True talk.. I was expecting the Yorubas to be like the Igbos who accepts the past the way it is and promotes and touts their present, and work for a better future.. but they choose to distort the past for reasons I still cannot understand. Is it shame or pride? I do not know.
Anyways my Kingdom lives on forever.. even in defeat to the British we have not lost our pride or our Kingdom.
shut up their fool who distort the past the past more than u. Two can play the game

Who is on contradictory lane if not you Edo people? You claimed Oba means ‘shiny' in Edo but Omo nor Oba said Oranmiyan imported the word from Yoruba land . Some of you claim ,there are no Yoruba people or settlement in Akoko Edo yet we have seen full blooded words that aren't in Bini lexicon nor names. such as Akerele, Bayo, Tosin, etc . Perhaps, Yorubas are wrong, Kindly help us find the etymology of Ikiran Ilé and Ikiran Okè in Bini lexicons. How did Ilé and Okè became Bini words for description of a settlement? grin
normally we go don leave this thread for them and let them continue their bullshit but not anymore. This thread will never end

You just made me burst into laughter grin. Do you know they condemned Jacob Egharevba's work on history of Bini just to save face? Simply because, it became an embarrassment to Edos that their most revered king was a Yoruba man! grin
It is humor, rather human, to see the light side of things. Reality. The battle of the kingdoms and empires of Afrika has already occurred and the result was slavery and colonialism. cry

The Edos are still getting beat down shocked

The yorubas have displayed scholarship on this thread

I think it’s time to retire this thread

Edo was irrelevant then

Edo is irrelevant now

Ain’t no one in the diaspora claiming Edo descent

Ain’t no Edo sons or daughters with international accomplishment.. well except for international w.horing

I would be ashamed too if my mothers were the most popular d.icksuckers on earth

Lies cause damage. Yet in trying to undo the lies you may be feeding into negativity that's the trap. People who need lies to keep them alive are weak people, if that is the case and not some confused Edo historian. grin
Finally you don show your real self lol.. I knew your preaching of tolerance was a charade. only when you are high and think you are seeing and reasoning with the gods you preach oneness but when your high don clear you show that you are not different from your deluded yoruba brothers lol..
no worry I go soon do some research on how your god Sango met his death and believe me it will be heart breaking for u.

Anyways the only people who are lying just to feel alive and important is your brothers.

Do you know how the Yoruba Deji of Akure was beheaded by the Benin police in the mid 18th century? I will tell you because I like telling you things u don’t know.

After the Deji messed up, Benin special police (equivalent of SARS now) was dispatched to bring his head.. Benin didn’t have to fight a war to execute the Deji, yorubas was too weak and in fear of mighty Benin.. our police simply walked into Deji palace dragged him out into the street and took of his head while the Yorubas were just looking and wailing..
This account is stored in historical archives waiting for your future generations to read and judge who is master and who is the conquered..
if u can post this “historical archives” of the Deji of Akure being beheaded by Benin I will post a “historical archives” of ur Benin chief being beheaded and their wife being taken by ogedengbe hell I will post a screenshot of ur oba lying down being flogged by him too ok davidnaze. And I don’t need no write up or screenshot post the source u are reading the story from. History is waiting for ur descendants to know u never had a kingdom but a village where pepper was traded and Yoruba man was ur ruling class. Yoruba master and Benin is conquered fact

Mugu mugu.. where did the name Bight of Benin come from? Oh so the name Bight of Benin existed before Benin was discovered by the Europeans?
Chai!! If you mugus are Yoruba champions then we Edos are a superior race to you.
You and samuk have no shame.

Why havent you renamed it Bight of Edo? Everywhere you hear Benin is a glory to your foreign monarch....a legacy of Oranmiyan. We are forever proud of establishing our colony over your land.

Sango never die. The Alaafin didn't become Sango until after his death so Sango can never die! All Afrikans kings that were defied from Pharaohs to Kabakas, to Alaafins, etc, were deified after death. You can't kill a God you fool. grin

I am not backing up Yoruba or Edo. I called for this nonsense to end several posts ago. What's the beef about? You are not the Oba of Benin? You are not of the royal family so what's it to you?

shut up there.. as if you and your yoruba brothers don't know the Deji was executed by Benin for messing up.. I don't need to even discuss what you already know with you.. unless u are a dummy.
It should even be shameful to you yorubas that the execution took place towards the end of the 1800s.. that was a time when everyone was getting more civilized and developed.. but yet at that time yoruba was still under Benin Kingdom..

When he was alive his name was not Sango. Maybe the Yorubas will tell you his name, if they are feeling generous.

I am the only man ever to bare the name Sango while alive. Sango is a God. grin

Yet I am not Sango, I am Ejiogbe.

All lies.

European hated Sango so they demonized him along with Esu.

Europeans hated Shaka Zulu so they demonized him.

Europeans hated Kabalega so they demonized him.

Good Afrikan kings were hated not only by Europeans but also wicked Afrikans. There are some Yorubas who didn't like Sango because he hunted down witches, child sacrificers, and those who encroached upon Yorubaland. All good blackmen are hated in this wicked world. You must know that by now even by our own people. Only difference is a king has the power of his office to judge the wicked so they despise them severely and always hate their names.

Ase

Love Sango

make you enjoy this one.. Just got it from my research..

"Eastern Yorubaland also felt the impact of its powerful eastern neighbor, Benin. When Benin invaded Ekiti between 1818-1823, the aim was to quell provincial revolt and regain control over the region’s economy. Indeed by reasserting control over the trade routes, which linked it with Yorubaland, Benin strengthened the position of its long distance traders, the Ekhengbo (from Ekhen Egbo) (ekhen, traders; egbo, forest). Akure and Benin traditions agree that the invasion of Akure was precipitated by a commercial dispute following an attack on a Benin tobacco trader, Ogonto, who was accused of violating an Akure law. Even though the information is scanty, it is possible to situate the Benin invasion at this time and the economic dispute at its root, within the context of the rise in the supply of slaves by the wars in Yorubaland and Hausaland. Benin traders would have desired to tap into the northern Yoruba slave fields as well as send foreign goods into the interior. They would have also wanted alternative markets, even if temporary, to counterbalance the disruptive effect of the Nupe political crisis on Benin’s trade with the Niger. Consequently, Benin soldiers, under Ologbosere Imaran and Ezemo Erebo, carried out punitive expeditions, which left so much destruction that the fear of Benin lingered on till the early years of colonial occupation. Several Ekiti, Akoko and Owo towns were sacked and in them were created Benin colonies under the Balekale (consuls).
With the victory, Benin reasserted its control over trade in Ekiti, Owo and Akoko, and Benin enclaves in Owo, Akure, Ikere and Ado-Ekiti became the nexus of trade between Benin and Yorubaland. Both Akure and Idanre traditions agree that owing to Benin commercial activities, a nineteenth century ruler, Deji Gbogi and an influential woman, Olokoju both of Akure founded Alade village/market (near Idanre) as a meeting point for Ekiti, Idanre, Ondo, Owo, Ijebu, Benin and Ijesa traders. Imported items such as guns, salt and metal implements from Benin were sold as far as Ilesa, Ekiti and Ilorin. This earned the Ekhengbo the distinction of being called the “first long-distance traders in Ekiti.” Although the Akure king’s list seems to put Igbogi in an earlier century, the reference to the importation of guns would put his reign in the mid-nineteenth century. Most significant was that commercial metal products point to the position of Akure as a regional market.

Immigrants into Ekiti also included traders, soldiers, administrators and their dependants from Benin. These colonists set up farm in the forest straddling the Akure-Idanre border and occupied what is now called the Ọgbọn Ado (Edo quarter) of Ado-Ekiti. Similarly slaves captured by the Benin from some Ado villages and some refugees were settled at Ikere where they established Ogotun, Afao, Are, Iluomoba and Agbado quarters, all named after their previous towns."
