Scope n breath of so-called Pidgin spoken in Nigeria is breathtaking.The variety is immense.Why there are versions spoken so lyrical they verge on poetic and many when spoken you’d be hard-pressed to understand if you as a Nigerian did not come from the area.In many ways calling this Nigerian form of English Pidgin or Broken English is a disservice, the form has suppased the categorisation.

The Indian guy Tay can be forgiven for his ignorance, which is similar , in my mind, to a child who sees the equation e=mc2 and is unable to fathom what the fuss is about for to them the thing could only be simple judging from its literal shortness in length.

That would be because you don't know much about the country. A Kano indigene speaks English very differently from an Ibadan indigene who speaks very differently from an Onitsha indigene. Even if the English is grammatically correct, there is a phonological interference rooted from your mother tongue. Of course, if you stay long enough in a very cosmopolitan city like Lagos, you acquire something of a "neutral" accent regardless of what tribe you're originally from. To be honest, East Africans actually sound too slow and boring to me the way they speak their English, but then everyone must not speak English like the Brits or like Nigerians.

Most kenyans recognize that as problem and try to reduce that heavy mother-tongue interference. Nigeria wear it as something to be proud of. This to me points to a collapsed education systems - that produce Nigerians speaking some of most awful English I've heard spoken- and that deny many Nigeria opportunities - either abroad or internally. Talk about call centers/BPO opportunities that will never dare land in Lagos...where accent reduction is a nightmare.

Yes. But not in a bad way. I suppose they are just fascinated by Nigerian culture. They love the accent, most of their women fancy Nigerian men. Kenyan men are typically intimidated by strong women so they naturally aren't even getting Nigerian women, only few upper class men do, if you meet a Naija lady with a Kenyan husband? So they have this TV comedian alias Obinna (Im still not sure if he's actually Nigerian), his job is just to entertain Kenyans using a nigerian accent. I know because I've interacted with a lot of Kenyans. Even though Kenya is a generally liberal country, Kenyan men are much more misogynist than the average Nigerian man. Nigerian women are part of the foremost proponents of gender equality globally. You can't compare Nigerian women to Kenyan women in terms of financial power. A lot of your men are generally intimidated by strong, confident and financially independent women. It's a fact and you know it.
