You will still come out to justify evil. Why don't you also carry out your own investigation and give reasons why Akwa Ibom is a good place instead of bringing politics to everything. You want Nigeria to be better you need to do the right things and not support evil. That's if you really want a better Nigeria.
I think his point is this happens all over Nigeria, why single out Akwa Ibom?
Unless your intention is to make it appear worse than it is.

One would think you are one rich man or beneficiary of corruption but no, you're just a poverty-stricken young man who is hawking Thailand visa. WTF is Thailand visa? Can Akopabio's children go there? Can Udom's children go there? The way you're going, even your children won't be allowed to enter that Thailand cos they'll ban them for your foolishness.

At your age, you should learn to stand for something noble. How can you see those kids sleep out there in the cold on the icy floor and say it's to discredit Udom?

Richard Akpabuyo, big head is not sense and your case just proved that.

You just spoilt my mood tonight.
May God bless you for this piece!

Yes it's all over Nigeria but The point here is that Akwa Ibom state is highly Rich and well funded. They should be some level of development in public schools. Do you leave in Lagos State? Even some rich men send their children to public schools here in Lagos State. Lagos State govt to some extent paid attention to public schools.

This is another reason the church owned schools are under pressure to reduce cost.
The poor pay out tax to govt and tithes to churches but have lost hope in govt and therefore rest their hope on the church.
One thing I know is that, education isn't cheap anywhere and even if the govt provides all the ingredient for a standard system, it cannot sustain it.
Good infrastructure goes beyond initial capital and involves recurrent cost. Recurrent expenses requires more than intervention most govt bring to the table. Take Kaduna or Osun state for example after employing huge staff or building new schools where will the funds to maintains those structure and pay staffs come from ?
What each state needs most is a good IGR mechanism. You can't make economic projections on unstable income like oil income.

@HigherEd, this might interest you.
You ar talking in an ideal situation. Go and find out how much was budgeted and ridiculously looted in the name of upgrading those schools. You will be shocked those schools consume more funds on paper than their private counterparts.
They can also charge to make the schools better. For example a medium private school with 30k fee per term, the state government can comfortably provide at least 50% subsidy especially factoring out teachers' r enumeration which the government already sponsor. Of it ensures proper management in such a way that the public schools compete with the private in whatever way, people will immediately transfer their kids.
There is a similar story in Kenya (or Uganda) I think where public schools are turning out to be better than private schools and it didn't take too much funds like you are insinuating.
Please let's stop finding excuse for our failure.

You can say it isn't expensive but education isn't as cheap as you make it sounds also. I acknowledge the mismanagement part also but believe me, if govt tries to subsidize it to the level the average man can afford it, then they may end up reducing the number of slots available for prospective students.
How many salary earning parents can afford N30k per term for 2 kids (N180K) every year? What about taxpaying artisans who survive on less than $100/month ?

We are saying the same thing, agreed education is expensive, but states like Akwai Ibom have more than enough resources if properly managed to make things work.
BTW I didn't say 30k, I made case for 15k which was also a mere example. You also ignored the point I made regarding the east African country that is making public schools better than their private counterparts. Can't we copy what they are doing right? Instead of claiming impossibility?

Im glad Mobil is building new school in the state since Udom feels a new church is a better use of funds.

I posted the quote below in one of your threads............in as much as i am not against what you are doing but please direct your concerns to the appropriate quarters.

Good job

Udom is the worst thing that have happened to the state............infact he is the worst governor Akwa Ibom has ever had.

His propaganda machinery is as oiled as Buhari's own if not more

Akwa Ibom has a body called Inter-Ministerial Committee set up right from the days of Victor Attah to fix social amenities like public school renovation, primary health center renovation, construction of inner urban streets and rural roads, provision of potable water and rural electrification as well as other small scale projects that does not require huge funding and state machinery to handle.

These projects are always awarded to local contractors to build their competencies as well as circulate money around the lower class as the contractors will always employ local labour and source materials locally.

This has been ongoing from Attah down to Akpabio gradually covering decay that has existed in those areas for decades until this slowpoke came on board. He declared to whoever wanted to listen that there is no money just like his master buhari and shut down most ongoing work that was started during the previous administration.

He crippled the Inter-Ministerial Committee works that was garnering momentum during Akpabio's time and every thing came to a halt.

A lot of people hail Akpabio because he empowered local contractors by funding the committee's work resulting in multiple small-scale projects (i listed above) across the state enabling money to flow among labourers, market women, transporters and other lower class folks...

It seems this set of government (politicians of 2015-2019 across all level) caters only to the elite......an elitist government in power

Oga, you need the rest more.

What has accent got to do with the topic?

Where are you from? where were you born?

Do you have problem with an Hausa man who grew up in Sokoto speak? Even the president of this country is with his own accent.

Go to Ibadan, Oyo, Ife, Akure, Ondo, and some other part of SW especially those that have been living all their lives there and try to evaluate their spoken English.

Even in the SE, a business tycoon who's in charge of multimillionaire businesses has his own accent. JayJay Okocha n Papilo even after spending several years abroad still speak igboish English.

Let's be tolerant and respect people the way God made them.

I am sure if you look through the country you would notice that even the least expensive private school is still better run than the government best schools

In Government schools Teachers do not report to duty on time, they have laissez-faire attitude etc

Noted but I doubt this situation can be all his fault. Hes only been there three years. I agree with your point about Inter-Ministerial Committee. He cut education budget as well due to economic constraints. In previous articles the author mentioned the amount budgeted for school rennovation and education. How much cash was released in both years for that purpose.

Samuel Efuo, a lawmaker and Chairman,  Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Education, says the problem is partly due to poor contract administration by the Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Committee saddled with the responsibility of finding quick-fix solutions to the infrastructural deficits in the social sector in the state.

What these state law makers have done about it I dont know.

Five hundred million and N450 million was budgeted for the sector in 2014 and 2015 respectively for the renovation and refurbishing of buildings, including the provision of facilities, in 124 secondary and primary schools in the state.

The administration’s plan then, as documented in the budget, was to pick four secondary schools and four primary schools for renovation in each of the 31 local government areas in the state.

The poor. Should respond adequately.. Cut down on child birth. No poor man should go pass two kids..let the third one come accidentally and there should be no fourth. If you have just two kids, it may never get so extremely bad for you as couples. Your child kids could make a middle class school. If not the top but certainly not the rock bottom no chairs and tables schools.

You really know nothing about Aks, even the Abak GTC you're posting was renovated 3 years or so ago alongside Mainland G Technical C and the one in Uyo. But no, it's that one you will see.
Those schools you posted were probably abandoned due to natural causes like low patronage from locals, so the next popular government school closer will have a better facility because it's more used. You didn't mention the thousands of facilities Akpabio built for abak people, even that bridge linking abak and uyo the federal government won't afford to do that kind of bridge cus of the obvious cost...
