You self know what it is to be taxed and you are shouting free free, does it not pain you to work and then they'll give part of it to a lazy being who refuse to work? There isn’t really a system of public/private universities in the UK - there are a very small number (5) of fully private Universities. The rest exist in a kind of limbo.

All these “limbo” universities are partly publicly financed - including Oxford and Cambridge.

However, the Government does not own the university assets, university staff are not considered to be civil servants, and as of 2014, roughly 85% of the Universities’ income comes from “private” sources (student fees, endowments and investment portfolios and so on and so forth)

So, to answer you question: kind of.

The Government is heavily involved in regulating the universities, and finance a decidedly non-trivial amount of the total; however, most of their income comes from private sources.

Does this make them Private Universities? No, not really - we do have those.

But they don’t really fall into the same category of “Public Universities” as the US uses (“a
that is predominantly funded by public means through a national or subnational government”).
Name one State Uni in NIgeria that does not Generate Income plz
The issue here is realy not about private or govt Uni, U started this private n public thing hence Im trying to tell you oxford, cambridge,Aglian ruskin, manchester, leeds Burkinhamshire are all Private,They generate the higest Income from Research and private students, forign students. Now If I decide to go to Uni all over again to run a Degree for say full time 4 years, all I need is student Loan,I will then pay the Uni,Im sure U have heard of this loan student take to pay fees and live etc.Now for the young lads and girls, this is what they do, they live on this loans for the total duration of Uni.even after work they only have to pay back if they earn above £30k, so if they earn say £29k for the next 20 years after they finish Uni that loan is voicemail.and if they decide to return back to 9ja that loan is dead and buried
Now back to the new british citizen, wen you are trying to arrange for visa for ur kids to come to the Uk to school his kids only need ticket money,
when you are hustling to pay school fess for two of ur kids in the Uni, his kids are using their Loan money to pay fees, feed, pay rent, all bills @ cheap.
Why ur kids have just 20 hrs to work they have more to work
plz read here

Hahaha Oxford university is not a public university, about 85% of revenue is gotten from private sources. What makes you assume I don't have first hand experience, have we met before?
No free universities in UK even for citizens

Most of our reknown leaders went to public schools but the standards have changed just like in UK.

Toks2008:
It varies a lot.

1.If a foreigner has a child in U.K with a Briton even without marriage it will take 11years to get citizenship.

Or a foreigner has a child with a partner who is mot a citizen.. both parent and child will be citizens after about 11years if lucky to remain as illegals that long

2.If you marry a Briton the proper it takes 6years.

3.If you stay as partners it will take years

Too many ways but let me stop here.
Seems quite a process but 11 years seems rather long

As for the secondary schools, I will never hustle for my kids to attend public secondary school in UK because I know I'm above that by God's grace. If I can't afford private then no point, British citizens will also hustle to pay private school fees, if they have to attend

I have explained why it's not public, you can read up on my explanations. UK govt doesn't pay it's lecturers they only regulate their affairs to some extent, read up on my explanation.

I hope you've completed your mortgage payment, the single mother's among them are given accommodation support at your expense

Even if you can afford holiday, it's still painful to be taxed for a lazy person

Counter my point. No lecturer working in Oxford is a civil servant, they are all paid by the school from private funds.

You've not told us your age, but you mentioned that you've been in UK for decades in your previous post, assumed you were advanced in age.

OK, cool as long as you don't mind. I responded initially because you were typing free free free, I don't think calling your attention to the tax you've been paying for those things is out of order.

erm £29K is more than " £2k take home, and if he /she marries same wage bracket thier take home would be £4k plus and if they have kids they get all the insentives that comes with that. mortgage/rent call it £1300, there is a lot of balance still.it might interest you to know that £29k is above the national average.
