For our states assemblies and juficiaries to have freedom from emperors [governors], especially our governor from Ekiti that has turned Honourables in the state assembly to puppets that cannot do a thing without Fayose. Next one I'm waiting for is LG autonomy and for all SIEC to be scrapped and taken over by INEC. KUDOS TO BUHARI

My only fear about this LG autonomy is that, primary school teachers will be at these chairmen's mercy for salaries and other benefits...and with d little things i learnt from history; d last time they had this autonomy, Primary School teachers suffered a lot.

Most of our LG Chairmen in Nigeria are half/full illiterates with money mismanagement flowing through their veins.

That's good.... Remain Local government full autonomy, then all those useless governors will be exposed and stop making workers suffer.

Gradually we will evolve into a society of humanity. Most of our infrastructural developments will come from the state and if power can be dissolved off the hand of the state executives, this may lead to better lives. State judges can at least be able to expedite Judgements now since they know that the Governor has no hands in their finances, legislatures can as well check the state executives dealings without fear, at least to a large extent

Because they want to "collect their share" from the governors, they would refuse to oppose or stop the governors but instead allow the executive to hold sway so as to share in the loot.

Padding of budgets, contract price inflating and padding, and approval for unnecessary borrowing and loans will continue because the legislature participates in it.

No offense bro....its just surprising coming from a govt who spent almost 8 months trying to get a cabinet. Elections are almost on the door step and suddenly they realize a sense of urgency.

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has signed the Fourth Alteration Bill that grants financial autonomy to State Judiciaries and State Houses of Assembly into law.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (senator), Senator Ita Enang disclosed this to State House correspondents on Friday.

Senator Enang said, “I just want to inform you that His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari today assented to the Constitution Fourth Alteration Bill which grants financial authonomy and independence to the Houses of Assembly of the respective states and to the Judiciary of the respective states.
