Hi there,

How's the progress with your application?

The NT site is just so difficult to navigate. I can't even find the eligibility requirements for the different visa subclasses.

It's not difficult to find your way around.. what do you need help locating on their website?

We have gone to centerlink and Medicare. Also we have gone to bulk billing clinic for immunization update which we are waiting for update from them.
We have submitted family tax benefit (I don't know which one is a and b)

Do I need to create centerlink account for my son?

Currently we are looking for work And house, anyone with any kind of work should alert me. Am willing to relocate. We are presently in Canberra.

Hubby: Architect

Thanks.

Madam Lucy.Welcome to OZ.First of all,you definitely need to learn patience in this town okay.

We all have very busy lives here(which you will too soon by the way) so if anybody makes out time to come back to nairaland to respond to questions or even respond to mail from strangers, that is an effort in itself.Check out how many people were active on nairaland before getting visas and then quietly ease out once they are here and settled.
There is no entitlement mentality here, people share if they want to.If they do not, abeg do a quick google check. There is nothing you really need you will not make out time for.

I respond to mails when i can make out time because i am busy.

I assumed you have kids so i asked if you had their updated immunization records because that is where you need to start from but you did not respond to that.

Also,i believe its better to share here on this platform than private mails so more people can be informed.

Update his immunization records at a bulk billing clinic first and ensure his medicare details are updated in medicare by the clinic(this takes days and even weeks sometimes).
create a my gov acct
Update his records and this information on centrelink.

then you can apply for family benefits/allowance.the allowances you might be entitled to because you have a kid is
family tax benefit (part a and b)
family tax rebate
rent allowance

it been a while and this much i can remember. There might be changes to part of the process from July 2018 as well.

Even better is if you go to centrelink personally or call their familes line for more clarity.

Can't say much about your profession with regard to relocation but your hubby definitely has to relocate to Sydney or Melbourne and try to align and package his resumé towards construction because construction is massive in these two cities, an average construction worker is balling in these two cities.

3.5M for what? I don't think you need anybody to advise you to run far away from him because your money will go down the drain.

Kindly start by asking him the subclass of the work visa , afterwards google the subclass and know the requirements. Maybe you will be amazed to know that these agents cannot help you rather they will complicate your case with falsified information about you to the embassy. As a graduate, seek for more legal way of migrating to a country. My one cent.

Hi Lucy.
With regards to work,I stay in Melbourne so maybe there’s someone else who can help with job options in Canberra.what you can do is try to google employment agencies around your area and physically walk in to drop your cvs.If you don’t mind, you can include blue collar jobs in your search so even if it’s a factory ,you can start from there and use it as a stop gap to earn money before your desired job comes.

With centerlink,go to your centerlink online acct and click on “make online claims”. Your son and your husband should have been added to your profile ,if not, there will be the option for you to do that.
Once that is done, you can apply to make claims.it should give you an option of what claims you’re entitled to and you take it from there.

i can’t remember the specifics but it involves you answering some questions and uploading certain documents they require to confirm your financial state.Once that is done, you submit and wait for them to get in touch with you.

If you still need further clarity, centerlink office will be able to assist you more

Thanks Solitin, I arrived Sydney on the 2nd June, very funny situations at Istanbul but overall, thankful for Gods favour and journey mercy.

What are the first things to do to have a beautiful stay here in Aussie. Pls any advice would be welcomed.

Solitin40:

Call Turkish to ask them for hotel bookings because of your long stop over I know of SAA that you have to book a week before flight date

If you have enough money go with shuttle service from the airport to your destination but if you want to save cost just use the train from the airport to the nearest train station to your destination and you use uber to get to your final destination At the airport ask questions from staffs on how to get opal card and load it do not be shy just ask questions and make sure you have A$ with you

You could've googled and it's even on their website..

http://www.australiasnorthernterritory.com.au/migrate/migrate-to-work/northern-territory-government-visa-nomination/skilled-nominated-visas

I'm very grateful for this but http://www.nt.gov.au/ is what I saw on the Home Affairs portal.

I'm just taken aback by the information I'm seeing for ICT Support Technician nec nd related occupations.

"Offshore applicants must provide evidence of having received an offer of employment by a NT employer in their nominated occupation or a closely related occupation"

I noticed most ICT occupations were affected. What do you make of this?

I read in one of your posts about applying for Welfare Worker, that's not affected at the moment.

I have no idea on what's going on with ICT occupations as it's not within my purview, I'll rather leave it for capable "Titans" in the field or pple with more insights on the occupation.

Hey guys! I'm in Melbourne, visiting from Wellington, I'm here for a few days on some work related stuff but also using the opportunity to check out the city, because I'm hoping to move back to Aus in a few months and trying to decide which one of my firm's office I want to transfer to - Adalaide or Melbourne. I've lived in Adelaide for about a week and have my bother there, really chill place. But this Melbourne is more my style, big city and lots to do, you guys have traffic here sha and lots of construction going on.

I googled african barbers and found one in footscray, took the train there...southern cross station is busy as. Infact everyone in Melbourne seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere, but it's been nice seeing a lot more diversity here than in Wellington. I saw yam in footscray, I was so happy bought 1 tuber, cost 20 dollars, but the yam is really good, all those very white ones that when you cut them are a bit slimy. I've only seen big coco yam (ede bu ji in igbo) in NZ.

I'm liking Melbourne so far, will go see seaworld and some other places over the weekend before leaving. See photo of my yam which I'm getting ready to cook with egg sauce and fry some later. Chai...wish I could take this back to NZ and make porridge.

Hi,

Are you staying with friends in Canberra or by yourself?

Google is your best friend you know?Canberra has an immigrant service unit that helps with settling down which you would have contacted from Naija please see the attached and send them a mail.(They mailed us that newsletter and a few other infos since we are waiting on a 190 grant for ACT.)

For house I have been reading/researching on suburbs and am signed up on a few alerts you might want to check out houses in Coombs it's a new suburb I gather.

Also try to join groups on FB and Instagram there are loads of Canberra community groups and you might just be able to find all the help you need.

Like someone said move around, church etc am not certain if there's much anyone living in another State can do for you,You will have to find someone living in Canberra to give precise information.

All the best.
