Right. Like I'm a connoisseur of gay tv shows, heh? Never mind. It happened on:

- Californication
- The Shield
- Episodes
- Sons of Anarchy
- True Blood

... to name a few.
Well, I can clearly state that you are wrong because such didn't happen in Californication.

Of all shows to complain about gays, it is now Californication that is set in California.

So because AM isn't shoving gay material down their "paying" customers's throats, it implied they (AM) are backward?? Wow! You've truly and utterly been brainwashed by the western media.

Every commune is governed by a certain perceived sense of morality. In Africa, homosexualism is a sensitive issue and as such, contents with gay materials are not mainstream. It being mainstream in America doesn't make their own perception of morality superior to ours or ours to theirs, nope. In fact, it can be argued that Americans legalizing weeds and gay wedding is very amoral. Bottom line, it all boils down to the sagaciouness of rectitude (morality).
Morality?

I wonder how Nigerians can speak of African morality whilst living in one of the most brutal and corrupt countries to exist.

African culture, like every other culture has a lot of bad sides (as well as the good). The problem is that the African man has yet to understand how to tweak his culture to progress in the modern world.

I won't speak too much on this. Just keep watching African magic since you do not like western culture

Like I said, I have no issue with gay people but the act itself. As a straight man used to heterosexual relationships all my life, the THOUGHT of a man kissing another man alone not even getting to see it, repulses me. It's weird and makes me cringe. I just can't stand it and therefore fast forward such scenes for my own sanity.

Don't be like this naa. You think Nigeria is bad, kindly take a trip to Afghanistan, Pakistan and Laos. Just a week in one of these countries and you'd realize that Nigeria the so-called " most brutal and corrupt countries to exist" had it easy.

The flaw in your argumentation stems from the fact that you're equating progress to good and retrogression to bad/evil. You couldn't be more wrong, sir. It's a grey area at it's finest.

A culture can choose a retrogressive lifestyle and in many ways be very enlightened, whilst a culture can be very progressive in their lifestyle and be very lacking in many ways. Japan has a civilized but retrogressive culture compared to western standards but today are one of the world most technological advanced countries. In contrast, Russia has a progressive culture and were the first country to send a man in space, but are one of the most racist countries on earth. Nazi Germany in her prime is unequalled in technological advancements, but were genocidal.

Experience maketh a man... we are what we become. Japan became what they are INSPITE of their culture. Russia are what they are INSPITE of their culture. Nazi Germany became what they were BECAUSE of their culture. Thus, Nigeria can become a first world nation INSPITE or BECAUSE of our "retrogressive" perception of morality. We are not inferior to the western so-called progressive ideas. Don't be brainwashed.

I'm pretty sure there is an unexpected gay scene in that show. I can't exactly pinpoint the season it occurred in, but it happened.

Hmmmm. To add to that, in the age of Trump, if you follow what's going on in the US, it may as well be Nigeria, with his supporters cheering or defending everything he does. There is brazen corruption in his administration, attacks on law enforcement agencies, wastage of government funds. Oyibo have been fully demystifyed. I look at Trump and I find the racism of his supporters pitiful, because it highlights their own poor reasoning.

Plus the Japanese are just weird. Gave us the Walkman, fuel efficient cars, hentai and tentacle porn.

I never equated morality to progress. Let's get that clear.

I made mention of two things - corruption and brutality. A nation cannot be corrupt and claim to be moral. A nation cannot be brutal to human rights and be moral. So if anything, I rate a country with disciplined govt and human rights very highly.

The problem with your argument is that you fail to define "retrogressive"

Japans culture is not retrogressive. You have no idea of what you are talking about. The worst you can say about Japanese culture is that it is nationalistic and it leads to racism. Japanese remain the most polite set of people in the world. Compared to the western world, Japan is okay.

Furthermore, Nazi Germany was never unequalled in technological advancement. They relied on American IBM for record keeping.

Oga, the fact remains that a progressive culture must precede a stable and human rights abiding nation. A progressive culture might not always lead to a more moral country but it must be present.

Hmmm. I didn't set out to convince you but to point out the flaws in your assertions... I think I have done that reasonably well too. I'm tempted to give you a lesson in Japanese history of isolation and primitive ideas, but I don't have the strength or motivation. It wouldn't do any good anyway. You have been utterly consumed by the western propaganda machine.

America is a result of people not finishing their job when it comes to creating a progressive culture.

European countries are far more developed (look at how they outrank USA on hdi rankings) than America.

America failed in two aspects of progressivism

1. Restricting religion with secularism

2. Restricting excessive capitalism with certain elements of socialism.

E.U. countries aren't religious and they have many socialist policies such as national healthcare, progressive tax, heavily regulated or govt controlled business environment.

Remove the religious die hards and the heartless capitalists and you can never have trump in the White House.

Did you read about Japanese culture in English (from.a western source) or in Japanese? Food for thought.

Japan and China tweaked their cultures when it was not working for them.

I know what Japan was during world war 2. But they changed.

Is Japan still isolationist? They too accepted parts of western culture and improved their culture.

Western countries too took from Japanese culture and improved themselves. Read about kaizen and other Japanese manufacturing techniques.

And just to make things clear, I do not worship western culture. I am just progressive and liberal in nature. I respect African traditions but I must point out where it goes wrong.
