Every country should be proud of their cities and you're very right about Nigerians being proud of Abuja. I actually like you. You're pragmatic and don't argue out of ego and inferiority complex. Unlike that Obaboon idiot who argues like a Kenyan stole his girlfriend and he's so bitter about it. He's also not as informed as you - does random google searches and feels like he's just invented the cure of death.

But you still have the power to elect the right people right? I believe that power is in your hands

Almost all countries in Africa had the West influence (Naija included) it just that they decided to settle in SA due to our fair weather,so I'm failing to see where you going with your write-up tbh.The biggest lie ever told is that corruption was almost non existence during white rule, only a deaf, dumb and blind fellow would believe that

Never said there wasn't corruption during white rule. Every country including developed countries have corruption. It's just likely that there was less corruption during white rule which was when SA was really progressing. If you look stats you'll notice more developed countries have less corruption. Today according to stats Nigeria ranks among the most corrupt countries in Africa. SA according to rankings is less corrupt than Nigeria, and again SA is more developed than Nigeria. There's a corelation between levels of corruption and levels of development

Nigeria's a relatively young democracy. We only returned to voting leaders about 19 years ago...
You can vote someone who you think is genuine but turns out once he's elected, the true side of the candidate unfolds... Today, Nigerians who voted for the current President of Nigeria(Buhari) regret the decision massively..

SA was progressing back then?...another lie they told and the gullibles took it without questioning. If everything was running smoothly then why is it that blacks only started having basic amenities after they elected their first black president? why are people trying to reverse the mistakes of white privilege? why was it that a white man could become a CEO of a company without his matric certificate?

Corruption was high during white rule but the white man being good at playing mind games he used his media to cover his sh*t.You read sh*t written by the same folks who termed Winnie Mandela a terrorist?

I don't how much of white lies you have read but just so you know,The ANC inherited a broken economy and not to mention that many European companies left SA as soon as blacks took over.Nobody can undo 400 years in 24 years

When you have military dictator ship that's massively corrupt, you get a shitty nation. A former dictator alone had over $4 billion government funds put into overseas banks...

Nigeria is rich country with huge oil wealth... But when you get leaders who don't care for the citizens nor the nation, you get a country with poor citizens and dilapidated infrastructure in all sectors

South Africa on the other was a settler country with large European influence and rule.. Today South Africa is the most advanced economy on the continent (not the largest) and one of the most successful, prosperous countries in the continent... Generally during white rule, there was less corruption and better leadership... South Africa during white rule was one of the progressing countries in the world, SA even had nuclear power.. I admit the white exploited the blacks... South Africa's success today is thanks to the Europeans...

But Nowadays i don't know whether South Africa will continue to be successful under black rule..

Personally, I just want Nigeria to catch up to SA then overtake SA
.
You wish grin You are too weak to reach the standard of South Africa, Not today or tomorrow, You must completely forget about that dream, It will never happen grin But you can keep on dreaming if you like grin The choice is yours grin

Foreign Direct Investment To Nigeria Fell By 21% To $3.5 Billion In 2017

Foreign direct investment (FDI) flows to Africa slumped to $42 billion in 2017, a 21% decline from 2016, according to UNCTAD’s World Investment Report 2018.

Weak oil prices and harmful ongoing macroeconomic effects from the commodity bust saw flows contract in major host African economies.

“The beginnings of a commodity price recovery, as well as advances in interregional cooperation through the signing of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, could encourage stronger FDI flows to Africa in 2018, provided the global policy environment remains supportive,” UNCTAD Director, Division on Investment and Enterprise, James Zhan said.

FDI flows to North Africa were down 4% to $13 billion. Investment in Egypt was down, but the country continued to be the largest recipient in Africa. FDI in Morocco was up 23% to $2.7 billion, including as a result of sizeable investments in the automotive sector.

Lingering effects from the commodity bust weighed on FDI to sub-Saharan Africa, with inflows declining by 28%, to $28.5 billion. FDI flows to Central Africa decreased by 22% to $5.7 billion. FDI to West Africa fell by 11% to $11.3 billion, due to Nigeria’s economy remaining depressed. FDI to Nigeria fell 21% to $3.5 billion.

East Africa, the fastest-growing region in Africa, received $7.6 billion in FDI in 2017, a 3% decline on 2016. Ethiopia absorbed nearly half of this amount, with $3.6 billion (down 10%) and is now the second largest recipient of FDI in Africa. Kenya saw FDI increase to $672 million, up 71%, due to strong domestic demand and inflows in information and communication technology sectors.

In Southern Africa, FDI declined by 66% to $3.8 billion. FDI to South Africa fell 41% to $1.3 billion, due to an underperforming commodity sector and political uncertainty. FDI into Angola turned negative once again (down to -$2.3 billion from $4.1 billion in 2016) as foreign affiliates in the country transferred funds abroad through intra-company loans. In contrast, FDI into Zambia increased, supported by more investment in copper.

Multinational enterprises (MNEs) from developed economies (such as the United States, United Kingdom, and France) still hold the largest FDI stock in Africa. At the same time, developing-economy investors from China and South Africa, followed by Singapore, India and Hong Kong (China), are among the top 10 investors in Africa.

FDI outflows from Africa increased by 8% to $12.1 billion, reflecting a significant increase in outward FDI by South African firms (up 64% to $7.4 billion) and Moroccan firms (up 66% to $960 million). Outward FDI by Nigerian firms, in contrast, remained flat at $1.3 billion, focused almost exclusively on Africa.

FDI inflows to Africa are forecast to increase by about 20% in 2018 to $50 billion. The projection is underpinned by the expectations of a continued modest recovery in commodity prices and strengthened interregional economic cooperation. Yet Africa’s commodity dependence will cause FDI to remain cyclical.

You insist we envy you but actually this is how we see most Dangotelanders!

Police claim many Kenyans have fallen prey to the suspected fraudsters, Mr Timothy Ogba Ebakole and Mr Alex Olesugun Adebayo.

The suspects allegedly impersonated the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Kilifi Senator Steward Madzayo and his Bomet counterpart Christopher Langat.

The First lady, herself?! One one level,I almost admire the cojones....

Anyway,we're not the only ones who associate you with such antics, most people do!

The word is versatile. All of the Nigerians wear the same clothing like in conservative Muslim countries so the whole country is one uniform mess. Your country looks like a military camp or a primary school. Kenya is the opposite, people wear differently from traditional to modern to everything. Thats versatility.

This is very false!

Nigerian tribes dress very differently and in most cases, even within the same tribe, sub-tribes dress differently and practice different cultures.
We have began to share each other's cultures over time but we all still have our independent original cultures.

That's why I said I could show you hundreds of distinct cultures from Nigeria, I wasn't joking about that.

No other country in Africa has as much cultural diversity as Nigeria.
Infact, East Africa combined with Horn Africa is still not as diversified as Nigeria.

Do you actually mean you are impressed with the way Kenyans and Ugandans speak, or are you kidding me?l l always found East African accent ridiculous. l'm surprised you think you speak well or this must be a joke.

Thank you. I couldn't believe that Kenyans were claiming to speak English better than Nigerians.
I wasn't just interested in that argument at that moment cos I find it ridiculous for Africans to be bragging on who speak a white man's language better.

Educated Nigerians speak the most beautiful kind of English in Africa. Many Nigerians now speak English as a first language (which is sad though).
I doubt that there are any Kenyans who speak English as a first and sole language. I always find the accent of other Africans ridiculous.

Kenyan comedians rarely use an accent that can make us laugh, maybe they would when they are mimicking a politician. We just laugh at the raw jokes, not the accent. His main target audience has all been Kenyans tbf, we just love mixing English and Swahili. I got to say the way Trevor Noah does it is so marvellous, the best one in Africa in standup comedy I'd say!

I think Kenyans mixing English and Swahili together is just very ridiculous.
If you wanna speak English, speak it, if Swahili, speak it.

This is probably the reason why Tanzanians speak and sing a far sweeter flavour of Swahili.

I fell in love with the swahili language because of Tanzanian singers.
