I'm especially responding to you because you brought up Mitsubishi and Hyundai, which will allow me to talk about the travails of INNOSON, the first indegenious car manufacturing company in subsaharan africa. Before I do that, I want to talk about something that have had me scratching my head every time I think about it. How is it that a company called ARAB contractors are building our roads, while some Turkish and Asian companies are building our high-rise buildings. If I'm not mistaken, I think Arab contractors also built the brand new enugu Secretariat. FOLKS, this is an abomination, something we should all be ashamed of. By now, in the year 2018, igbo contractors should be able to build all it's highways and bridges. Currently, all the top contractors in the nigerian oil and gas sector are igbo companies. Three of the biggest oil pipeline construction companies in nigeria, nestoil, oilserv and Baywood continental are all igbo. These companies have mastered the art of laying pipelines in all manners of terrain, including swamp areas and even on shallow water. They have even mastered the engineering feat of laying pipelines through rivers without disturbing the river bed. They simply accomplished this by drilling under the water bed!! And yet, we have arab contractors building common road for us

During the last anambra gubernatorial election, I vehemently attacked obiano for abandoning patronizing INNOSON after the huge patronage that was lavished on them by the Peter Obi administration. Of course, I also didn't like the fact that anambra, like imo state, have not adopted the FREE EDUCATION SYSTEM. By now, since 2010 when he opened his manufacturing plant, INNOSON cars should be seen in all nooks and crannies of the state. But this is not the case. Every time I visit home, I always take it upon myself, as an assignment to locate his car products on the road. But alas, I never see any!!. This is very very shocking. All blame should be laid on the feat of the clueless obiano and his anambra government because like we say, CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME. The rest of the igbo states, can also not be blameless. The INNOSON's saga goes a long way to reveal that the igbos states, and by extension their southsouth cousins, do not know how to martial out their resources to achieve maximum objectives. Any people who does not remotely understand how to maximize the potential of INNOSON, like the Koreans did with Hyundai etc will never realize their maximum potential.

This is key. If Igbo states have stakes in Innoson, he can go global because their patronage alone can keep the business in serious profit. With a booming business, Innoson can soak up most of our graduates looking for work, plus continuity is assured even if Innocent Chukwuma has grown old and died.

Igbo states can still patronize INNOSON without having any stakes in the company. The United States federal government and all it's agencies, the United States fifty states and every single one of their agencies, all the American cities, localities and agencies all drive ONLY american owned manufacturing companies, FORD AND GM. Remember now, Korean, Japanese and German car companies are manufacturing in the US BUT NO SINGLE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT OF ANY KIND BUYS FROM THEM. By the way all these american government federal, state and local agencies have zero stake in the two car companies.
This same scenario I just described is also applicable in Germany, Korea and Japan. Those countries federal, state and local agencies also exclusively drive cars manufactured by their own car companies even though foreign car companies are also manufacturing in these same countries. Nigeria should not be different. The igbo states should not have to aquire any stakes before they can patronize INNOSON.

I'm surprised that a lot of us do not understand the problem facing Igboland and truth be told, the problems will persist until some drastic is done deliberately by the Igbo leadership.

Our number one problem we have in Igboland is BRAIN DRAIN. If we're asked to name some of the most successful Igbo men and women, i can bet that 80% of them do not live or have their businesses in the south-east. You cant grow when your best brains are not their to help out. That's why we will keep lagging behind. Unlike the Yorubas who have their best brains in Lagos (Yorubaland), ours are also in Lagos, Abuja, Port-hacourt and other parts of Nigeria. Until Agbakoba opens his law firm in Enugu or Onitsha, Chimamanda moves to Enugu or Nsukka, Peter Obi moves his superstore to Onitsha, Uche Nnaji moves his clothing line to Aba, Kanu Nwankwo and Okocha build academies somewhere in Igboland, nothing will change. The little development you are seeing in the east is due majorly to Igbos who are based in the east. The best Igbos have done is to buld residential houses in their various villages where they hardly live.

The government also has a share of the blame because they are supposed to be the drivers of an economic revolution. If the governors of Anamra, Enugu, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi cannot even replicate 50% of the gargantuan projects that can be found in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, then let's not expect any change.

Like businesses, smart brains will only gravitate where they can maximize their potential. In that sense, I partly don't agree with your assessment. Right now, as far as I'm concerned, we have to organize our environment and cities to make it livable. Igbo states and government should try to start URBAN RENEWAL PROJECTS. Every time I come home and I think about moving back home, the one livable city I think about in the east is owerri. Some certain parts of the city just looks very PLEASANT to me, and like I said before, probably one of few igbo city I can afford to bring one of my foreign friends to. On the other hand, there's no way on earth, I'm bringing any of my foreign friends anywhere close to aba. So until igbo governments start organizing igbo towns and villages, it's citizenry will always migrate to seek greener pastures.

I remember in the early 1980s and 1990s, every government parastatal was mandated to drive Peugeot make of vehicles because it was assembled in Kaduna. Now all that patriotism has been thrown out of the window because this vehicle manufacturing plant is in Nnewi?

I agree that the SE governors who have abandoned their own are the worst in this case. Even if other Nigerians refuse to drive INNOSON simply out of tribalism, the SE and SS governors have a responsibility to support our own.

Igbo contractors and by extension Nigerian contractors are the worst in the world. None of their works stands the test of time.

I have always advocated for our people to stop or reduce the consumption of beef and instead eat more chicken and fish.
Personally, i eat chicken and turkey even in soups and stew and its much better and healthier.

Culture of eating beef in our environment is partly what is driving all the cows in northern Nigeria into our farms because there is market for it.

people performing ceremonies in Igboland should learn to stop buying cows for the celebrant. Instead, give him the equivalent N300,000 - 500,000 naira in an envelop and still carry the rope to show you bought a cow. Buying 20 cows for people and then they have to sell them at discount of more than N200, 000 back to herdsmen means you actually gave them about N50,000 even though your cow cost N250,000 naira. I just hope we change the bad aspects of our culture that is encouraging the current slaughter of our people.

EXACTLY right. All the south east governors, all the south east commissioners, all the south east permanent secretaries, all the south east heads of agencies, all the south east chairmen/women of local government councils and their deputies, all the police vehicles aquired for use by the nigerian police, all the universities and secondary school officials in the south east, SHOULD ALL BE DRIVING INNOSON'S MADE VEHICLES. In short, every single one of them. An exception can be made for other igbo owned manufacturing car companies like coscharis with Ford. But, since his manufacturing plant is located in Lagos and not the south east, which means that all his taxes are paid to the Lagos State government, the share of cars bought from him by the south east governments should be very tiny. This is exactly how it works in all countries with indegenious car manufacturing companies. In the US, all their federal, state and local government officials drive only American cars. In Japan, all their federal, state and local government officials drive only Japanese cars. Same thing in Germany, Korea and France.

Obviously, they are trying to achieve this through charitable means. This, folks, is their operating procedure. While they are treating Enugu people for their diseases, they will start forgiving hospital bills, which will gradually end up ensnarling them to start a SHIITE ISLAMIC GROUP smack in the heart of igboland. I always tell out people to take this christian vs. muslim country easy. This is how we disasterously thought Britain will support Biafra as a christian country rather than Arewa muslim republic. So what happened? We should have learned how the world operates by now is by economic advantage and not by religion. The same western countries we are "hoping" on becuase you think they are "Christian" countries are busy taking investment from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iran. yet, you won't take because of religion that westerners who don't even like you at all brought to you? If Saudi Arabia or Iran wants to build a world class hospital in Enugu with advanced diagnostic technology and treatment for cancer, advanced surgeries, the Enugu state government should better grab it. It will help solidify Enugu as a medical destination in the West African subregion.
If Enugu does not want it, i will advice my own Anambra to go after these investors and give them land in Awka to build this hospital to treat our people and improve standard of healthcare.

I get baffled when my people talk about Germany, Japanese, Korean industrial and technological strides and development, without taking into cognizance the fact that these people are independent countries of the own, hence have full control of their socio-economic and political destinies.

If there is any lesson to be learnt in Biafra defeat, is to never take religion seriously, but to instead think in terms of interests.

If Iran is offering investments that would provide jobs to our people and improve our medical technological know how, then we should be grabbing it with two hands.

Infact, the sooner we started building lasting relationship with countries like Iran with better technological advancement than us, the better for us.

Also, the Islamic Caliphate in Nigeria is of Sunni extraction, whereas Iran is a Shia Islamic nation.
We can always find a middle ground with them, if we are serious.
