MKO ABIOLA AWARD: Prof. Segun Awosanyo analysis. (Is this administration thinking?)

The kudos starved admin just need something to be celebrated for, thus the hunt for sentimental issues to placate and since we have a village of shallow zombies seeking to hail for a fee, there will always be a win win situation within the conundrum. #EndSARS #ReformPoliceNG

Been holding back from lecturing anyone on the implication of this but I guess you all should hear it and tag your aspirants for a free political and statecraft lecture on the house. This wasn’t thought through and the President must be held liable for this bad precedent.

If not that the president and his cronies enjoy divisive antics, what stops him from making this recommendation to @NGRSenate and @HouseNGR for him to get their collective input?some of the major players of June 12 are still alive, what was their input in this pronouncement?

Those who said this is deserving are very ignorant. Posthumous National honor of this nature is only reserved for troops who paid an ultimate price in battle. People who died in a coup if military etc Chief Abiola’s case is complex and controversial at the same time.

He wasn’t a President. He presumably won the annulled election and technically committed Treason by declaring and parading himself President. This was what actually got him arrested by Abacha. Before you haul stones at me...breathe and listen deep.

What would have happened in the country if @GEJonathan had made this primitive and politically sensitive declaration? Do you think we’ll still have a country? Babagana Kingibe also has a bad record with NIA. Are we now rewarding crime with national honors for political advantage?

We have been plunged as a nation into validating criminality. And come 2019 anyone who feels he was cheated out of the election can now freely declare themselves president and hope to be a national hero someday. Secondly, expect a SE/SS leader to honor Ojukwu, Kanu & Asari Dokubo, this is the trajectory we have found ourselvesin where GCFR, GCON have been reduced to tokens of seeking political advantages while demeaning our political institutions and ethics of leadership in our society. Mark these words and you will say I told you so. This is Tragic.

The failure of this administration will start showing in this regard when the June 12 Brigade starts to demand Presidential entitlement of Chief MKO Abiola. Now that we have recognized him as Past President by the conferment of GCFR. Can someone help them calculate this...?

Don’t forget to calculate for Babagana Kingibe as well based on the recognition as the substantive former VP and GCON. Then ask yourself if this administration is thinking at all. Police have gone rogue just like other security chiefs and people are still dying daily then this!

You can clearly see why The Fulani Militia are untouchable. Criminality has been Validated in Nigeria. It is no longer hidden. Long Live the Federal Republic Of Nigeria. I hope those whose sentiments were tickled will think deep. Just saying it as it is. I stand with Nigeria.

That being said it was well played. Politicians will never see it my way. This is not because it’s not a superior argument but because anyone who fights this may be seen as an enemy of the SW. so checkmate. NASS will have to play along. It’s like a mosquito on the testicles.

In fairness to the @HouseNGR, Hon. Wale Raji Moved the Motion on the declaration of June 12 as the National Democracy Day by President Muhammed Buhari. He expressed sadness that successive Governments since 1999 refused to acknowledge June 12 as Democracy day.

He commended President @MBuhari for the action & urged INEC to release the remaining results of the June 12, 1993 General Elections & publicly declare the winner.

Hon. Kayode Oladele stated that June 12 1993 is a watershed in the Nigeria's history as it was the success of cumulative efforts at trying to return the Nation to democracy. He Expressed regret that the success however was not let to see the light of day.

Hon. Chris Azubogu stated that the name of Prof. Humphrey Nwosu who chaired the Electoral Umpire at the time and against threat to his life tried to show the way the election went was conspicuously absent on the list of Honorary Award beneficiaries.

He expressed the hope to see his name on the list of Honorary Award beneficiaries. Hon. Edward Pwajok stated that the Public Holiday Acts will need to be Amended to change the date from May 29th to June 12.

He stated however that Chief M.K.O Abiola cannot be declared a President of Nigeria as he was never declared by the then NEC, nor was he ever sworn in as President.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon @YakubDogara sought clarification on the Court Order restraining the then NEC from releasing the remainder of the election process. And also to find out if Chief M.K.O Abiola can be declared former President by Presidential Decree?

Hon. Ossai Nicholas spoke against the Motion that the Powers of the Legislature was circumvented by the Presidency. He pointed to the Exclusive Legislative List in creating Public Holidays Act, which he stated is in the purview of the National Assembly and not the Executive, the Speaker however clarified that the National Assembly had Amended the Act and given the President leave to set aside a date for celebrating Public Holiday, but a schedule in the Act makes the declaration be in contradiction to Section 2.

Hon. Ahman-Pategi Aliyu in speaking against the Motion stated that the President can only Amend the Public Holiday Act by a Bill and not by declaration. The Speaker referred the Motion to the House Committees on Justice and Rules and Business to explain to the House.

See what I mean? This is far more complex than the premature celebration of sentimentalist. This is a country/Republic and must be run as such in a Democracy.

The election was annulled! No winner was declared, so parading himself as d winner, wasnt because he lost(rightly or wrongly) to his opponent! Tofa, could well have paraded himself as d rightful winner!

Until d remaining results, are declared(results we assume d govt have access to) n confirm a loss to MKO, this move satisfies it's variables.

Buhari was part and parcel of abacha govt that killed mko and he should stop throwing placebos at us like dumb people who cant think and reason beyond nursery 2.
My fellow yoruba brothers let us demand for a better life, security and dividend of democracy from who ever is at the helm of govt.
Let us ask our self what buhari has done for us esp in agriculture and industrialisation. Let us stop jumping and frolicking upon empty crumbs of placebos been thrown at us like confuse rat.

The election was not about Abiola per se but about respecting the wishes of the majority of Nigerians. What legitimacy or mandate did Abacha have to prosecute anyone for treason?

It wasn't about abiola, yet

- his family has been writing to the presidency for abiolas recognition as president

- buhari awarded a GCFR posthumously to him.

Yoruba and childish sentiment. A thousand boos for you.

And to think that this analysis was made by someone from this part of the world shows that some people still have their sanity intact.

Buhari simply played on the intelligence and sentiment of our Brothers from the south west for cheap political point but they were sentimentally blind to see it.

Buhari is a legend of divisive tactics , disobedience to the rule of law, and master of crooked crafts all in the bid to get his own selfish agenda done ..

God help Nigeria ...

When you are being told the truth, you bark like a dog. Always afraid of your northern masters. There are high ranking individuals who have said despicable things about other tribes and you never lifted a finger. Now suddenly you have become an advocate. Nonsense.

All we want from Buhari’s govt is the recognition of June 12 after all we know Buhari is a certificateless dullard when PDP takes over power which won’t happen till 2023 Yoruba will demand good governance from the PDP.

The same good governance PDP as been delivering during the 16 years it ruled with the slogan share the money n declaration that stealing of public fund is not corruption but Buhari must finish his two terms whether Igbos Igbos like it or run mad.
Ko kan aye.
