Contrary to what most Nigerians are expecting, there will be no public holiday on June 12 this year, despite President Muhammadu’s announcement on Wednesday.

Buhari, in a press release, moved Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12.

The president also announced that MKO Abiola, winner of the annulled election, will be posthumously awarded the highest honour in the land, GCFR.

However, part of the statement read: “The investiture will take place on Tuesday June 12th, 2018, a date which in future years will replace May 29th as a National Public Holiday in celebration of Nigeria Democracy Day.”

DAILY POST reached out to a source around the presidency, to make clarifications and it was indeed confirmed that the date will be a public holiday in future years, but not in 2018.

“It starts from next year,” the source simply said.

He also insisted that May 29 remains the handover/swearing-in day and Buhari is not planning to extend his stay in office by two weeks, in the eventuality he loses next year’s elections.

Fact is: Governor Fayose honoured MKO Abiola before Buhari, who was among the killers of MKO and his wife, Kudirat remembered to honour him obviously for political reasons.

Nigerians must still remember that Buhari was a prominent member of the Abacha govt that arrested, incarcerated and killed MKO Abiola.

Then, what effort did Buhari make to free MKO?

Shedding crocodile tears on the grave of the same MKO Abiola that they conspired to kill won't redeem Buhari's image as an unrepentant dictator and ethnic champion.

May the soul of MKO and Kudirat Rest In Peace.

MKO Abiola worth been celebrated ,this was man imprisoned ,lost properties , fight for the mandate given to him to rule by fathers ,mothers ,grandfather and grandmothers of most young people ranting on online ,lost his wife and ultimately pay with his life for the freedom you are enjoying today . .I can bet it if these people hasn't paid the price they paid most of this under 30 years won't have access to the internet ,l can also bet it you can have the kind of freedom you have now . Even our fathers don't have it untill MKO lost his life . All Nigerian from every tribes stood with him , both Christian and Muslims . Almost every tribes he tasted from the fruit of his labour (Obasanjo Yoruba Yaradua Hausa ,GEJ N/D and Buhari ) is anything wrong with this man celebrated ?

Democracy day will never be June 12, it will remain may 29. This move is political, watch out for June 12 2019.

Obviously you did not read the news, such that despite the extra effort put in to address ignorant fears that a Democracy Day automatically becomes Inauguration Day, you still had to ask the same question already answered in the last paragraph.
