You guys asking whether this is hacking. Yes, it is hacking. Social Engineering is a form of hacking. Hacking is getting access to data by any means necessary. You do not have to sit behind a computer installing malwares and Trojans to get access or penetrate computer/network defenses before you call it hacking!

Hacking is being used loosely. If you have a genuine access to a database, that is not hacking. That's abuse of privilege by a malicious insider. The banks internal control system is lax. Every transaction not initiated by the customer should be authorised.

These are the problem from AUTOMATED BANKING.

When we were using the old method of banking as far bank as the 70s and down to the 90s there were less problem of hacking and debiting of account.

but with the advent of mobile phone banking, using banking app etc STEALING is now the order of the day.

Honestly, you're so right. it pisses me off when every phishing, spamming and social engineering is tagged hacking. What else does the Zenith bank worker need to do, since he has access to customer's info from the Zenith bank database. No be to just debit the person and provide the account to be credited therein? Nigerian Police Force are just bunch of olodos, nothing upstairs! When they're suppose to employ capable and competent men in the right departments, No! they won't. Keep encouraging quota system and federal character!
