Exactly my thought on the issue.Kingibe has always been known to be sneaky and slippery. No wonder he did well in foreign service.

Panshow:
I pray our leaders get back to their senses ( that's if they even have sense at all) so they can take massive action that will move our country forward. Nigeria is not as bad as you think, our leaders make it so.
In addition to prayer, why don’t you join others to make sure our leaders, who were ordinary citizens like you in the past, get back to their senses?
Is that something that you can do huh

Mhen! See the people leading Nigeria....this guy look deranged....and he is a commissionerhuh

I see no hope for Nigeria at all...we are far. Out of all the smart intelligent people in Osun State, this man is the best to be appointed as a commissionerhuh He even sounds like someone on hard drugs, even his dressing looks barbaric, otimu o shocked shocked
Please keep quiet.

That is the great Segun Maiyegun. In his undergraduate days he was even more famous than Sowore.
His resistance to military rule and his mobilization of students in UNILAG ensured that Nigeria never became like North Korea, Pakistan, or Myanmar. This is a man who along with others mobilized thousands of Nigerians to confront the military - and won. Nowadays, you guys cannot even resist your lecturers who make you kneel down in lecture theaters like primary school kids.

His dressing has nothing to do with his intellect and his contribution to the freedom you enjoy.

The source of hopelessness in Nigeria is from passive people like you who have never marched for freedom, never protested, never confronted government, probably never even voted - yet want a better Nigeria.

Apology accepted.

People died for Nigeria in 1989 protesting against SAP and in 1993 protesting for the June 12 mandate. It was not a joke. It was war.

It's much more complex than that.

According to what we know and facts collaborated by both SDP leaders and Abiola's close associates,

1. Abiola encouraged Abacha to seize power and dismantle the ING headed by Shonekan and thereafter hand power over to him (Abacha and ABIOLA werent strangers. This was the third time they were involved in planning a coup. The other two being 1983 and 1985).

2. Kingibe, Ebenezer Babatope and one other man from The MKO Campaign organization were nominated into The new (initially agreed to be temporal) Abacha cabinet by Abiola.

MKO only started crying wolf about Abacha when it finally dawned on him that Sani didn't plan on leaving Aso Rock anytime soon.

Still thank God for him. He spoke faultless English and is a PHD holder!
Segun Mayegun has always been on dreadlocks since his days in Unilag. A radical to the core!!
I think he was a one time SUG president and ferociously fought for democracy and students rights.
I schooled in UNN but still remember he made his marks in Unionism in the early 90's before Sowore won the SUG president in Unilag.

Leaders? No, I disagree. The people, I mean Nigerians made it so. A people get a leader that reflects their core values and beliefs. A pigeon can't give birth to a duck. Give Nigerians a good leader, they will chase him out of office. Good people are not appreciated here. Only lousy, noise making liars readily win the hearts of my people. It's one thing I have come to realise about us.
This is a very valid point brother.

Who is this one again?
Why do we like causing confusion and distracting ourselves on things you have no absolute control on?
Who is this one again? It's sad history was syatematically scrapped from schools. Segun Maigeun was a problem for the military government. IBB no dey like hear in name. They played a huge role in where we are and they know a lot more about what went down than me and you. He knows Y he said that and I agree. Kingibe who became a minister under Abacha does not deserve to be on the list. The reason for being a minister was to legitimise the annulment and put June 12 to rest. Yet he benefits from it now. The man has no honour abeg. So the question is "why is Kingibe being honored by Buhari?"

Whether your story is true or not does not invalidate my statement. When Nigerians marched for June 12, they did not march for Abiola as a person, but for the restoration of the electoral mandate and to establish the supremacy of the people.

True to that!

However, history will remain unkind to him.

At least he gets to enjoy the perks of the mandate. What a windfall... shocked

That is a true fact! Babagana Kingibe is the baddest traitor of the June-12 struggle.

You actually don't know what you just posted. Mayegun represents the last era of active student unionism in Nigeria unlike what obtains presently. This guy was detained side by side with Gani Fawehinmi and co. I don't know his political stand now but he also paid his dues in the June 12 struggle. Google is name and be enlightened.

I wonder how many people here will be old enough to know Red Drum (Olusegun Maiyegun).
The great union leader of our time....good to hear from him....I'd wondered where he's been....honesty, these are young Nigerians that should also be recognised as freedom fighters....not with gun nor machette but with movement of the Nigerian youths.....

Greatest akkkkooooookite....

You are a true Nigerian. God bless you. June 12 isn't about Abiola, it is about Nigerians who pit aside their differences and decided to pursue a common goal. Even when SDP presented a muslim-muslim ticket, Nigerians looked beyond that and voted for freedom.

You are 100% correct. Sowore learnt under him. The Great Olusegun Maiyegun aka Red Drum. His political vision of Redrumism was well respcted in Unilag then. You seem an Akokite?
