If the doctor isn't giving you answers to your questions then simply take your child to another hospital!

My son was on admission since Tuesday and was discharged this evening! The diagnosis? Broncho pneumonia, acute tonsillitis, malaria and infection!

I suspected all was not well when he was coughing for days after I'd just treated him for cough

I went back and demanded for thorough tests to be done. After all it's my money!

Did you see a general doctor or a paediatrician?

When my son started showing symptoms, I saw a general doctor twice! He specifically told me that the cough and cold needed no treatment and sent us home with vitamin c. I went back 2 days later and this timehe gave something for the cold due to congestion of the nose.

Barely 2 weeks after that, he broke down completely!

This time I saw a paediatrician who diagnosed him and immediately admitted him as fluids were already in his lungs (I was already self medicating him at home with vitamin c and one cough syrup that he was giving before..... I will never try this again)

Bottom line, seek a second opinion! That picture you showed me on whatsapp needs to be addressed quickly. The fact that she's not eating too is a problem! Not to scare you but she may need to be admitted for proper care! Demand for tests! If it's an infection, demand to know what kind and ask what caused it! If it's malaria, ask how you can protect t her against getting I'll next time! You're her mother they can't deny you answers!

I wish her a speedy recovery.

almost same shoe with you. I didn't see my third period. My first two had a difference of 14 days interval instead of the usual 28 days menstrual cycle.
7 weeks passed, I didn't see the third period. I was 21 days late. I even nursed the fear of been pregnant until I went to hospital. Result was negative and doctor says breastfeeding will most often make your period irregular. She says sometimes you might not even see it for as long as six month after the last period. It's normal and nothing is really wrong.

Well I've finally seen my period sha few days ago.
Thank you, my mind is calmer now

How did they diagnose the broncho pneumonia, what test did they run on him. Dh's niece came to stay with me nd she was always having cough, the mum said she had pneumonia wen she was about 6months nd since den it's every week cough.I buy cough syrups every other week, Took her to d hospital serverally nd they said its untreated infection, a pead said is bronchial atshma, they will give drugs but give it 2weeks d cough is bak. I noticed my son will start coughing each time she had that episode, she had to go bak to her parents. I still fend for her, but I want to know the kind of tst I wld ask them do for her, and do I need to test my son too? He coughs once in a while whenever the weather changes

Mummies pls how safe it is for an 8weeks old baby boy to sleep on his chest??

Not safe at all. Let your baby sleep on his back but lie sideways for the first month with a little tucked soft cloth behind your child, this will help your baby stay put and breath good. All this will help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Don't tuck a pillow under your baby, only tuck a little baby blanket by folding it into two so it doesn't look like a raised up pillow but let it still serve as one. My baby is 6 months today and turning on her side since month 3 and the half. She still love to lie on her back. Very happy and jovial beauty. One more thing always monitor your baby's breathing and liquid behind the throat. Never lie your baby down without dabbing/burping your baby and holding your baby up for at least 20 to 30 minutes after feeding. I hardly slept and was changing my baby's diaper every 1hr mostly 2 to 3 hours for the first 4 months until she made it easier and now I set an alarm to make sure I change it on time cause she can stay dry like a toddler and she is as big as one. I also fed accirding to demand. Hardly slep up to an hour some days cause i monitored her a lot. From month 4 she started sleeping longer at nights. Now she sleeps almost througj and i have to wake her to feed her. She has her own unique way of telling me she is hungry even when she is sleeping. She is so understaning and let you be when she see you're sleeping or sleepy until she can't take it any more and begins to tap me with her habds or legs. From day 1 she doesn't cry even when I gave birth to her, rather she looked at me surprised and blinking while I talked to her. She even tired to walk when I held her back to adjust her on my laps on the hospital bed. She did that that day then has been doing that from week 5, lifting her head on her own from week 4 cause she has incredible strong neck muscle. Gosh she is so strong!!!!! She will mumble and try to speak to you with her words like she's been doing for a long long time now. Almost 3 weeks ago she was 10.6 kg and is almost 28 inches tall. Very robust and beautiful. Energetic and active. She is even playing and laughing beside me now as I type. She is a very clean and wise baby. We love her so much!!!!! I can go on and on about my Angel but I need a break. Beside I am 3 months pregnant with what I suspect to be a handsome boy. So let me get back to my babies including my sweet partner. I don't follow threads so this may be the only time I speak here. Just wanted to advice you on your angel's sleeping position. In case I made any typo just know I didn't have time to cross check cause I have to go now. Bye! smiley

Hello mamas

My baby is a month old. I noticed a strange behaviour from her when she was just 10days old. She would stretch and scream out aloud. I mean so loud. She would be bringing out saliva from her mouth. Her stomach makes lots of noise too. She does it mostly in the afternoons and nights every day. We took her to the hospital, but the doctor said he couldn't find anything wrong with her and that she isn't sick. I'm worried. Even my mum is confused as she hasn't seen such all through her experience as a mother. I don't know if anyone here has experienced such from their baby. Its kind of scary.

I saw a specialist
He went through his medical records, and saw that we've been there several times for the same issue
He also carefully listened to his breathing and chest (said there was palpitations), then from the way my son was coughing with pain, he diagnosed pneumonia. He also sent us to the lab for X-ray which revealed that he did have some fluid in his lungs.

Lastly, there's history of asthma from my side of the family. My mum was asthmatic, my cousins are asthmatic (one is late. He died at 7yrs.... From malaria)

I intend to take my son back for thorough tests and check up once he clocks 2 so as to be sure he doesn't have asthma.

I've heard that pneumonia, if left untreated, can become asthma.

I've also heard that a child under the age of 2 cannot be diagnosed with asthma...... I may be wrong about this.

Perhaps you should see a paediatrician and have him properly checked.

chai..all these discussion of illness is making me scared. I guess it is the weather and its effect on babies. May God speedily heal all who are ill in Jesus name. Amen

In other news, I have successfully found how to preserve ogi (for those who don't have light). Simply scatter the ogi on a cloth/tray, spread under the hot sun to dry. Once dried, mill it with your blender to powder form and store in a container. No more spoilage.

Kindly take her to another hospital and this time, go to the one that has a paediatrician. General doctors sometimes, are quick to dismiss.
kelizosuy:
The stress is something else embarassed she has become extremely cranky and clingy. This is someone that doesn't cry on a normal day. Now everything annoys her. She wants to be carried always and the bad part is that I can't do anything because there's no one to even leave her for. She has been spoon feeding since. She isn't bottle fed.
She doesn't want to even see anything close to her mouth embarassed embarassed. She has really reduced

She's 8months today

Evening mamas

We went to a specialist hospital today and we were placed on admission. The Dr had to admit us immediately because of how high the fever was and her rate of breathing. We haven't done any test because their lab will not open till Monday.

Thanks mamas for the mentions and prayers. We appreciate

If i read your post well, you had fibroid removed same day you had your baby? Waoooo, that allowed?

Hope you are being properly managed? Do you have your bath? As in, from up to down? I did not feel any pain after my cs till date and here are the advise given and i followed;

1; water must not touch the incision part for good two weeks.
1. Wipe the incision part with clean cotton wool and spirit up to 6 times daily can be more than. (For the wiping - take the cotton wool with spirit, wipe from right to the left and discard, take another one wipe from right to the left and discard, repeat like three times at a time - each wipe of a piece of cotton wool goes to right or left once)do this six times a day or more. Ensure you wash your hands each time you want to wipe.

2. Use your drugs religiously (there must be pain relievers in it, folic acid, antibiotics and i think i have blood tab in mine and others i cant remember their names)

3. Dont lift anything except cup of water.

4. Don't put on anything tight over the region.

I dont bath for 14 good days, i only mop my body. Wasnt funny but today am happy cos you can say i did cs when you check my belle, no mark, i myself hadly notice there is a cut down there. A former colleague nursed her own for over 8 months and it was not healing, i told her to stop bathing and wipe woth spirit, the mess coming out stopped in a week and she is better now and it has healed up. Doctors were even planning to up her up for restiching before she discussed it and thank God is is good now.

Rest. Dont lift anything heavier than your baby. Take your pain relievers religiously. CS is a major surgery and recovery takes time, then the fact that they decided to remove fibroids again? Most doctors wont try that. Take care of the site as you were advised in the hospital. Take periodic walks but no jackie chan behaviour. Leave cleaning, cooking, gbogbo e for now. Feed your baby, eat, sleep, take your drugs rinse and repeat. It typically takes 2 weeks to feel like yourself again

Yes it is. But baby still needs milk so you either continue to breastfeed a lot and express to support cereals and pap or you supplement with formula

Hello my sisters.

Please i need urgent help.

My kids are seriously stooling. I have done all i should do. This is the very first time they are all stooling. No infection, have given them flagyl, ort though they dont like it, i mix in water sparingly so they wont get the taste in water cos if they do they wont take it. Still no show.

Genesis of it, my daughter doesnt like you touch her head, just to make her calm and make hair i gave her sweets, i dont ever do that, i also changed their biscuit to pure bliss waiver, i tasted the biscuit abd saw its so sweet and i have stopped giving them. Since monday its been war with stooling.

Infact i bought garri for them to drink na lie, bought bread na lie, they took pap same lie. Plus all the drugs given. Am weak now. I broke down today in tears and dont go to church. My hubby is a vwry busy man so am just alone with them and its being sooooo stressful.

Please, i need home remedies or any anything that can permanently stop this stooling for them.

Me self being stooling, i wanted the rubbish pure bliss to finish in my house and i eat it over ten of it and its not funny with me too.

Their poo is now green.

I just remembered this thread and i smiled with relief, please some relieve me ooo.

Dr said its acute bronchitis. They've been looking for vein since yesterday but they didn't see. They had to change her drugs to oral. She started stooling this morning with mucus and vomiting. Dr said they will have to shave her hair and fix the drip if she vomits again.

Rant time

I just gave an insensitive nurse a piece of my mind. During ward rounds, the Dr asked me to notify them if she poops again. So when she did,I told a nurse to tell him. They brought another baby after like 30mins to the ward and the nurse came to attend to her, when she was through I asked if she told the Dr and she said no. I was like but he said we should inform him and she said she can't go and be disturbing him because my baby is stooling. I got so mad at her ehn. Meanwhile I had already shouted at her because she told me to use my hand and block Adele's nose when giving her the drugs so it will be fast. This is a baby that's already breathing difficultly

I laughed for a minute here. Maami you chop 10 pure Bliss? You da boss!!!

How did you make your pap?
This is usually my remedy to non stop purging.
Equal amounts of raw pap and cooked pap, mix and drink. Not in spoonfuls o, at least a cup.

Also unsweetened yoghurt works.

Even for diarrhea caused by viruses.

Then again since Monday is a long time o.
Try to take them to a Doc.

@Enque and Zaynie, thanks for your responses. We've been to the hospital. No infection no this no that. Was given flagyl n ort. Even took them to a phamacist yesterday and was told not to try any other antibiotics so i wont cause more harms.

I cant say both dint work cos they dont take the ort.

Am self medicating them on vitamin c cos they sneeze sometimes, i stopped that yesterday, does vitamin c increase stooling? Make i answer myself first, i think yes cos it works for softening stool. Hmmm maybe am the one not allowing the flagyl to work afterall.

Abi, make una help me out.

@Zaynie, i tell you oo, i was hungry and too busy to cook so i started feasting on them and am paying for it now. Though am better now but it comes on n off.
