ashjay001:It is a half truth. The president has the power to appoint "any other person" The NSC has met several times since he has been in office e.g https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/241099-buhari-presides-over-security-council-meeting-with-military-chiefs-police-ig-others.html https://leadership.ng/2017/08/22/photos-national-security-council-meeting/ |

aribisala0:Which is d half truth, in my post? |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 3:47pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
ashjay001:Half truth means incomplete information. The National Security Council includes all the service chiefs and IG and is not very different from what the OP posted. You are the one that should show how the OP's list is wrong |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by ashjay001(m): 3:58pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
aribisala0:Hmm... So, d chief of defence staff, is not a service chief His name was omitted!D chief of Naval staff, is not a service chief His name too, was omitted.D VP's name too, was omitted! Do u know their names? Their tribe? That op's list, was biased. Even with those names, d list would still have been all shades of wrong! Why did op, then omit them ![]() ![]() |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 4:01pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
ashjay001:You are correct the OP is biassed and I am not his advocate but your list was incomplete andthat is why I called it half truth. The reality is the security council is not balanced. Nigeria is a complex country. The composition is lopsided do you disagree? |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by saaron(m): 4:23pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
Buhari has always been a tribal bigot. This kind of tribal bigotry in security appointment can never happen in sane countries anywhere in the world. And we wonder why herdsmen are killing Christians with impunity in middle belt. |

Let's call it Nothern security conference..
transmission fools |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by ashjay001(m): 5:15pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
aribisala0:Most pple lose, from winning positions, because of negligible mis-representation. If op, hadn't made those omissions, he's theory would still be viable. The composition is wrong, no excuses! |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by Ovamboland(m): 5:28pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
aribisala0:But why not simply saying it as it is rather than using inaccuracies to make the issue graphic? You and i know it's not true that ALL troop commander's are from the North but you keep toeing the line of the mischievous OP. Rather than call out the poor attempt to propagate lies, you do injustice to your observations by writing half truths. |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 5:32pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
Ovamboland:i sincerely do not have time for pointless back and forths. I am not trying to win anything. I am not the OP's lawyer. If you think the Seurity Council is fair and representative of all Nigerians fine, I do not. |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by Ovamboland(m): 6:15pm On Jun 16, 2018*. Modified: 7:08pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
aribisala0:The Constitution prescribes who and who should be in the security council, which representation rule has been violated? Modified: But it's obvious you're shying away from stating your opinion of lack of representation is based on the OP false list or the true position in the Constitution |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 6:24pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
Ovamboland:The federal character principle |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by Ndonu101: 6:26pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
This is the real reason why the government can’t deal with herdsmen The national security council does not see much wrong in herdsmen destroying other citizens life and property It is the problem of only one point of view in the National security council |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 6:28pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION SECTION14(3) the government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity and also to command national loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few states or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that government or in any of its agencies |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 6:46pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
From the North President Katsina Minister of Defence Zamfara Chief of Army Staff Borno Chief of AirStaff Bauchi Minister of Interior Kano Director DSS Katsina National Security Adviser Borno IG of police Niger From the South Vice President Chief of Defence Staff Chief ofNaval Staff Foreign Minister Every single person from the Nort is from the NW or NE some states have two persons while the entire NE and SE are ignored. ALL NORTHERNERS are Muslim |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by Ovamboland(m): 7:05pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
aribisala0:You still try to sustain the faux pax of the OP, cheif of air staff, naval and army staff, head of DSS are not normally part of the security council. I will take it that you're misinformed, but cleaning up your list shows there are 5 northers and 3 Southerners on the council. This is a far cry from the shock and awe the OP is trying to promote with his false list. The issue is when reality dawns the average Nigerian sticks to his bias and lacks the candour to shift position with new knowledge |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 7:17pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
Ovamboland:Guy do not take debates personal. You come across as rude and churlish. I am not the OP so please do not rope us together. The National security council contains by constitutional provison A specific list of 8 individuals presently 5 North :3 South as you pointed out and Any other person chosen by the president. Now we have seen Newspaper reports and photographs and( I HAVE ALREADY POSTED LINKS ON THIS THREAD) of briefings after NCS meetings under Buhari. and these have contained all those people I listed. Check!! In fact initially the Vice President did not attend this meetings and the goernment was forced to come out to issue a denial that he was being schemed out and marginalized and subsequently we saw photographs of him in attendance. |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by Ovamboland(m): 7:36pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
aribisala0:This is your response in agreement and support of the OP position which has been shown to be largely false. There's nothing rude or churlish in correcting wrong impression by presenting true and verifiable information. It won't reduce your stature one bit if you display enough candour and accept your premises for concluding on the lopsidedness of the appointments might be inaccurate afterall. I enjoy reading your opinion over the years on nairaland even though I post only sparingly. I never believed you'd be in the category of members here who would continue to stick to their guns when shown to be posting inaccuracies. |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 7:45pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
Ovamboland:I stand by my response. The NSC includes those people(service chiefs) because Buhari has put them there . If you want to disagree do so directly . I am not the OPs brother. What is the wrong information I put out? Please clarify? Are the service chiefs , Director of DSS not part of the current NSC ![]() My position is thaat they are So what are you correcting Anyhow I think we are getting over fixated with this NCS because it does not have any authorit over and beyond the president and so the whole point of it being diverse is to givee voice to different interests You talk but do not listen. I posted links for council meeting briefings take a look at them On March 1 2017 Osinbajo as Acting president presided over the NCS Go and look at the roll call |

| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by Ovamboland(m): 8:14pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
aribisala0:If the president has the perogative to invite whomsoever he chooses apart from the members listed in the Constitution what then is the hullabaloo about the Council becoming Fulani preserve or lacking federal character? It has been shown that this is even not the case. If for any reason the president wants the Dss head to attend or any of the services chiefs or you aribisala to attend, it remains his perogative and privilege. That right must be respected. |
| Re: This Is How National Security Council Looks Like by aribisala0(m): 9:05pm On Jun 16, 2018*. Modified: 10:57pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
Ovamboland:With respect you are talking nonense. Like I said to you several posts ago I am not interested in meaningless or fruitless back and forth. You said you were correcting me I asked you where I wass wrong and instead you have chaanged the subject to rights. How am I disrespecting the president's rights? First of all let us agree who is in the NCS before anything else so rather than evading it let one of us accept correction. Either I was wrong and the the IG police DSS director etc are or are not in the NCS or you were. Which is it? Once we agree on who is in the list then we are making progress. I too and the OP who you keep tying me to have rights to opinions. I have given a list of those who are in the NCS and clearly the vast majority are from the North. All those from the North are Muslim and some states have 2 individuals while the entire SE has 1 person the SW has 2 persons and there is no one from Taraba ,Benue, Kogi,Kwara, Plateaau or Nassarawa. My opinion then is based on the question of whether the president in exercising his power( it is not a right but power) isn contravening section 13(4) of the constitution whic I have already posted above. I believe he is though intelligent people may equally disagree. The operative points in that provision is the need to foster unity and loyalty from constituent parts Here is the nub the ONLY peron from the south who is in command of any troops is the chief of Naval Staff. We all know how relevant the Navy is in Nigeria. The DSS,The Army,The Police, The Airforce, The Customs, The NDLEA ,the Immigration are all under northerners and all under Muslims. In a country like Nigeria that cannot be right. So when we find ourselves in a situation where the chief of Army staff , the IG of police and even the Minister of Defence are saying grazing laws should be scrapped then we have a serious problem |

Please sir, remain mute...no one puts a gun on your head to comment. I still stand by my post...everybody is entitled to his or her own opinion. Amba555:Just empty words. If u had anything to stand on, I won't hear d end of it! Same poo u're doing, is what Saraki, is trying to do. Using corruption, to fight corruption! And, expecting to win. Live n let live If u had posted d right list, u won't smell me in ur mentions. We're probably, on d same side, criticising that list, not just from a fraudulent position. |

He is not the only interested party. Fact remains that the list is lopsided in the extreme. Fixating on irrelevances is just diversionary tactics |
