60% of Nigerians leave their parent homes at 25, 10 years away from 35..

Nigerian graduate trainee positions end at 27, 8 years from 35.

Managerial positions in Nigeria is usually pegged btw 35 - 40.. now we are talking presidency.

Am only trying to be realistic.

Your opinion or those of PDP leadership doesn't really matter when it comes to age of people that can contest. What really matters is the position of the law and nothing else. If the laws say 35 years is the age limit for presidential candidates, then it is illegal for PDP to stop members within the 35-39 age bracket from seeking the party's ticket. If I am a 35 years old PDP presidential aspirant, I will simply approach the court and get this silly guidelines nullified.

Are you saying that there are no 35 year-olds within the boundaries of Nigeria who can manage the affairs of this country efficiently?

Is that what you are saying?

There may be really... but let the question begin from how many ceo's of multimillion naira complex companies are age 35? Not heirloom companies

Lets be truthful to ourselves... 35 years of age is too young for a president. That is how you get leaders like kim jon un and Yahaya bello..
Please dear sir,I implore 'ee do NOT mention an ineffectual political leader like our esteemed Yahayah Bello and Kim Jong Un in the same breath. Kim Jong Un is a far better leader than Bello. His achievements in the field of nuclearization of his country speak volumes of his gait as a goal-getter. What has the other guy achieved despite all the federal allocations at his disposal. sad Too bad Kim is about to dismantle those babies.

I can feel it. #sad

Nigerians wont vote for a 35 year old in a democratic system,[/quote]Says who You sounded so sure. I would vote a competent 25 year-old as president over an incompetent and senile grand-daddy of 90 any time any day. And guess what I am a NIGERIAN!!!
A Nigerian who is sick and tired of these old and corrupt bast.ards. They have made me lose faith in democracy.

we are too (elder conscious) for that. Same way buhari refused adesina to respond to obj's letter while even telling lai to be cautious with words as obj is much older than they are.

The youngest presidents all over the world are from very small countries less than 10m population, and they are above 40 except kim jon un.[\quote]

This, however, doesn't mean we should be content with being a glorified 21st century gerontocracy. Why don't we set the pace for once and watch others use us as a good example. We have tried the old men and they have proven over time to be never up to the task. Grand-daddies have messed up.

Since 1960 AD.

Lets not lie to ourselves.

The argument is on 35, 39 can always be assumed or projected as 40.

Should that^^^be the only prerequisite,sir?

I mean being the CEO of a multimillion naira complex company and all that. I know CEOs of top companies who have been elected to positions in government and failed woefully.

I mean abysmally.

APC presidential forms are more expensive
APC is still presenting an ancestor Buhari to recontest..

The age debacle will be looked into.. There is no wolf to cry about
what pdp has done is consistent with its avowed policy of obey the rule of law,it is putting the APC on its toes in respect of the guildlines for the elections, the laws says 40 years for president, that's what they have complied with, the amount for the nomination forms is as stipulated in the amendment to the electoral act which buhari is yet to assent to, hopefully this step may encourage buhari to sign the act. there is no reason to vilify the pdp, they've done the right thing according to the laws.

KenOne:
It could only happen in PDP. President signed not too young to run bill that pegged the age for president as 35yrs and above. And PDP that were deceiving Nigerians that PDP is the party for the youth has ignored the law that stipulates 35yrs and above and went for 40yrs and above with stringent condition for an aspirant to sponsor 60 persons from 2/3 of the state of the federation and nomination fee of 12million. PDP is really Party Deceiving People. They've set the ground for a 74yrs Atiku to clinch the party's ticket that they criticized APC for fielding a 72yrs Buhari in 2015 PDP hypocrisy stings.

When APC was selling ticket for 27 million, dollar was 210 and that equaled about $129k. At today's exchange rate that would be over 47 million naira.
PDP is now selling ticket for 12 million and BMC think they have a right to complain?
That's the maximum set for in the new amendment to the electoral which hopefully buhari will assent to.

The president signed the not too young to run bill into law some weeks ago and PDP publicly claimed credit for the law since the bill was sponsored by a PDP lawmaker from Lagos. The above guideline has however exposed the hypocricy of the party. Apart from the exorbitant N12million that they are demanding for nomination form, aspirants whose age falls between 35 and 39 cannot seek the presidential ticket of the party in clear violation of the not too young to run law.

Aspirants must also be sponsored by at least 60 people from 2/3 of the states of the federation and they must all swear to an oath to abide by whatever the NEC of the party decides as regards the primary. So as it is, a candidate can emerge and PDP NEC can decide to present another candidate as the party flag bearer and the original winner must not complain having signed a legally binding oath to accept whatever NEC decides.

I am really sorry for all the youths who still believe in PDP. That party will never ever change. Youth empowerment, internal democracy and rule of law are the least item on the agenda of that party. All they want is to return to power by hook or crook and start another round of looting.
You should have some honour na...at least thieves have some.

You posted this thread to spread falsehood and hatred.

Let Nigerians decide for themselves. APC is the blight afflict us...please spare us.

However, female aspirants are to pay only N2m for expression of interest form as they are exempted from the payment of N10m nomination fee.

Na the only thing I see be that, Gender Equality or Gender Partiality

we all know it is illegal to hold an age frame against the constitution....
also illegal to put such fees...

and we have some people to defend this... its either we are waiting for our gains or just being emotional...
PDP/APC should make this open...

those who are true party members will sponsor...

PDP can do better!
Uche Secondus is a mediocre chairman without serious understanding of how many factors contribute to political victory, or failure.
He is the guy whose only achievement was to lead the party on a national confession jamboree, obviously expecting to go to heaven after that, but not Aso Rock!
