As for 4th generation fighters....the Gripen is a proven fighter..the JF-17 is not. Its only common sense yhat Nigeria try the initial 3 JF-17 inncombat before making large purchases...its common sense dude...the F-7N is basically an interim fighter. If the JF-17 proves itself...one or two squadrons will be acquired.

SAAF has what, 12 Rooviak in service? Good thing about Russian copters is their versatility......troop carriers like the Mi-17 have secondary strike capabilities...,,

People tend to forget that Nigeria's love affair with helicopters and drones was driven by the Niger Delta insurgency, not Boko Haram. As far back as 2003 Nigeria acquired six Aerostart Israeli drones and started acquiring the MI-24V variant. Back then the Mi-24V was a formidable helicopter gunship, and still is.

Besides all these current and new platforms, the Army, Navy and Airforce are also acquiring new equipment, thanks to the $1 billion dollar loan.

In two years time like Perestroika said, we will be at an enviable position

Lol dude...you quoting from wikipedia...as early as 2007 before the Boko Haram insurgency Nigeria had more than a dozen Mi-24 gunships. The Nigeriam Air Force helicopter fleet is made in Russia. Besides the Mi-24p Nigeria also in service six Mi-35, these come with rotary gun turrets. NAF recently signed a deal with Russia for the delivery of 12 new Mi-35M helicopter gunships. The first brand new helicopters Nigeria will be buying in decades. This is one of the most advanced helicopter on the planet and gives the NAF night fighting capability.

This is the Air Force. We are yet to know what the new Nigerian Army Aviation Corp will be composed of. Im not taking anything from the SAAF but its an understandable trend. Nigeria is building up because its been at war for long. Aircrafts lost to attrition and all are certainly going to be replaced and improved upon. Its not rocket science.
Who said i was quoting wikipedia??

- One of my sources is flight global.....ever heard of it?? and no you don't have more than a dozen Mi24....you have 11 including the 2 new MI35m which were recently delivered out of the 12 ordered from Russia. Night Fighting capability isn't anything special.

- The only aircraft that have been ordered by NAF are Super Tucano's and 3 JF17s(Which are nowhere to be seen)........SAAF also has projects(although deferred) to replace several of our aircraft, NAF is not the only air force that replaces aging aircraft.

? dude really.....the reason we don't arm our transport helicopters are due to doctrine....that however doesn't mean they can't armed.

Yet you've not even received a single fighter of the 3 JF17 that you've ordered 3 years ago?

It is a demented mind that thinks a country with NO ELECTRICITY can overtake or out-achieve another country with electricity in anything, except maybe in stealing, drug trafficking, and corruption. Nigeria is a disgrace to Africa.
