Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja, on Monday admitted four members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to bail in the sum of N10 million each.

Justice Nyako admitted Bright Chimezie, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, David Nwawuisdi and Benjamin Madubugwu to bail.

Messrs Chimezie, Onwudiwe, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi, aged between 33 and 45, are facing three-count charge of conspiracy to commit treasonable felony and illegal possession of firearms.

They were all arrested in 2016 and had been in detention since then.

They were charged along with the former leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu who has not been seen since September 22, 2017

Mrs Nyako in granting them bail, said she had carefully considered the consolidated application for bail submitted by their counsel and the number of years they had spent in prison custody.

She also made reference to the defendants health status as well as the ruling she had read of “a sister judge’’ as well as the Administration of Criminal Justice Act,(ACJA)2015.

In considering their bail, Justice Nyako ordered the defendants to deposit monetary sum of N10 million each with the Chief Registrar of the court.

She added that the defendants are not allowed to travel outside the country, that they are to deposit their travelling documents at the court as well.
 
The judge ordered that they were not to seen in any gathering at any time or granting journalists interviews or any type of interviews.

“No welcome `oyoyo’ gathering.If you do that, you will be sent back to prison. Go home, be with your family, come to court. The trial has commenced,” Mrs Nyako said.

At the prayer of the defence counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the judge ordered the defendants to report to the Commissioner of Police at their locality every two weeks, instead of Abuja.

She ordered the first defendant, Mr Chimezie to report to the Commissioner of Police, Rivers.

Mrs Nyako also ordered the second defendant, Mr Onwudiwe and the fourth, Mr Nwawuisdi, to both report to the Commissioner of Police, Enugu state.

She said the third, Benjamin Madubugwu should report to the Commissioner of Police in Anambra.

Mr Chimezie also pleaded the court to stop men of the State Security Operatives from invading their residence after being admitted to bail.

Justice Nyako in response, assured them that they were under the custody of the court.

She adjourned the commencement of triai until Nov. 14.

Upon a split, Igbo's may most likely loose their investments in other parts of the country and flee back home.

For majority of returnees, they will either return penniless and even if they have money, it will soon run out if not properly invested. No investment can thrive in a chaotic place.

There'd be mass chaos upon a split. Igboland will be submerged with refugees.

Not all Igbo speaking people will be part of Biafra anyway. The Ikwerres, the Aniomas and Ika will not join you. Forget all South south states or tribes joining you.

So basically it will be Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi state. I don't envy you guys. The bedlam is best imagined.

I don't see a flourishing democracy there but a corrupt and oppressive one and a half party masquerading as a democracy.

Biafra is one chance my brother. It will pauperize and destroy Igbos for decades!

After much bullying, the fulani Judge pulled their ears and told them "you can go on bail but if I hear pim, you will all go back to prison" they knelt down and thanked her like she was their God.

I can't believe people are celebrating this. They pitied some people and released them and some people are busy calling it a victory.

I can go on mentioning countries of old that had divided and each is doing well on their own.

It was Malaysia and Singapore that split and that was in 1965 and it was peaceful.
