Where former governors Jolly Nyame of Taraba State and Joshua Dariye of Plateau State, who are presently serving 14-year jail terms failed to secure bail from prison pending appeal, many are wondering if former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu could succeed, writes Davidson Iriekpen

Will former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, be lucky with his application for bail from prison pending appeal? This is the question Justice Mohammed Liman would answer tomorrow when he delivers his ruling on the former governor’s application.

Justice Mohammed Idris had on December 5 convicted and sentenced Orji Uzor Kalu to a concurrent term of 12 years imprisonment over N7.2billion fraud after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged and prosecuted him alongside his former Commissioner for Finance, Jonnes Ude Udeogo, and his Company, Slok Nigeria Limited, on an amended 39 counts charge of fraud.

In his judgment, Justice Idris found Kalu and Slok guilty of all 39 counts of the charge, while the second defendant Udeogo, was convicted on 34 counts of the charge. While Kalu was sentenced to a term of 12 years imprisonment for the offence, Udeogo got 10 years imprisonment. The court ordered that Slok Nigeria Limited be wound up and its assets forfeited to federal government.

“The case was conclusively investigated as the prosecution conducted thorough investigations. No gaps were left unfilled; this is the acceptable practice. The first defendant failed in his obligations under the law. He acted contrary to his codes of conduct and will be dealt with accordingly. No evil deed will go unpunished. The offences are anti-human; it is condemned worldwide, because it is a crime against humanity,” the judge held.

He should rot in jail, these are the people that make Abia, one of the most useless and dirtiest state in Nigeria, making my brothers from the yeast a fugitive and parasite in another's man land; thereby constituting nuisance in southwest and other part of Nigeria. Thunder fire him

If he was so confident in looting then he should be confident in serving. He might get the bail since he's already in the ruling party. If u roll with the ruling party then your sins are forgiven.https://www.nairaland.com/4814062/aluminium-windows-building-casement-casement/7

He would be granted bail pending appeal..

However, he remains a convict and would fight his conviction up to the Supreme Court. 2023, he won't have time for politics.

Bail ko bail ni. The man stole the citizens money for his personal gain and we are talking of bail. Imagine the number of people that would have died because of this money.. They always stole the money that belongs to active and retired workers, general citizens, Imagine the kind of pain those people would have passed through most expecially the retired one. They stole the money that's for the construction of good road and turn the road to the grave 4 average Nigerian that cannot get money for flight. Seriously sometimes i think the punishment for corruption should b life one or death. Thank God the agency brought this one to book sha but how many of it are we going to c again. D funniest part is that they haven't declare the seat of this man vacant and he will be continue to receive salary from prison because they said "declaring his seat vacant and stopping his salary is no where stated in the rule of law. They gave the example of people that either serving sentences or facing prosecution and still represented dia people and got dia seat. D likes of SENATOR OMISORE, former aviation minister S. ODHUA" the man will b in prison till finish his elective political office in prison and tell me how this man is representing his people. Thief.ole. BArAwoooo

Please allow Kalu to go to jail.

It remains Ikedi Ohakim, T.A Orji.

Then the Almighty thief of Bourdillion, Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves to be jailed for 150 years with hard labor for looting Lagos state dry since 1999.

Lagos state is Nigeria's Island where the whole of Nigeria has invested most of our collective national resources in making it a country in a country with huge IGR and federal government projects and presents since the colonial government era, how can we allow one eyed thief to continue to run Lagos like his personal property, allocating lands to himself and family and friends as he wishes, taken over properties, using his companies to collect Lagos taxes, installing governors in Lagos every four years to coverup his tracks, selecting house of assembly members and LGA Chairmen, appointing commissioners, appointing market women leaders, appointing motor park leaders (NURTW) heads and dictating everything like Lagos belongs to him when he is not even a Lagosian.

Nigerian government must make it a priority to disarm and jail Tinubu and liberate Lagos so Lagos can grow to become the true London, New York and Tokyo of Nigeria it ought to be than the dilapidated state it is now all thanks to looting machine Tinubu!! angry
