Legalization doesn't cost that much oh. I did my legalization and pre-enrollment today and overall I spent 36K for both of them.

Please also be aware that the costs may rise in July.

This is not true. This is the new correct order.

1. Get your documents authenticated in Abuja at the MOE and MFA. Don't forget to get receipts for the authentication.This should be around 20,000 - 40,000 depending on if you're going yourself or being helped.

2. Translate your documents at the approved translators. It's around 1000 - 2000 per page.

3 Book for an appointment to legalize. You can have your pre-enrolment done simultaneously. Both should be around 40,000

4 Wait for your DOV.

5 Apply for your visa.

From authentication down to legalization it took me close to a month but that's because I made many mistakes along the way. But if you know everything you need to do, the only thing that would take your time is translation.

I have authenticated my documents since 2015, that should be 3 years now and I don't have the receipts, can I still use it at the embassy?

Translation is not the problem because it only takes 3days or maximum a week. How many days does it takes you to legalize in Abuja and was it by proxy or you went to Ministry of Foreign affairs Abuja yourself

That's what I'm saying. The translation is the longest process. I did the authentication myself. I spent one day at Ministry of Education and one day at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In total, it took me two days to finish my authentication.

But they did not give me the DoV, and they didn't say specifically when I should check back for it. I've sent them emails to ask for update, no got no replies.

I believe it also depends on the university you applied to. Mine is Ca'Foscari and the legalization staff informed me that I have to write a mail to the university for the latter to send the embassy the names of accepted students. When that happens, they would start working on the DOV.

I'm not sure about your case but maybe you could go back to the consulate and ask them specifically.

Because my school is Univ of Milan and I already emailed them. But they said it is the consulate that must first send them a list of pre-enrolled candidates, after which they (that is, the school) will now confirm the candidates on this list that already have admissions. This is directly contradicting what the Consulate said. So I am kinda stuck right now.

All hope is not lost,i was at the Italian consulate in Lagos today,and in my presence someone was issued visa today. They have finally resolved they technical issues so carry on good people of 9ja.

Yes, I sent a mail to the university and they wrote back that they would confirm to the embassy the names of all the accepted students soon.

Bro, I think you should forward the mail the university sent to you to the Consulate so that you can have that on record. If the Consulate doesn't respond in a few days, you could go back there.
