izzou:In addition, how would the southern states deal with the exodus of people from the north down to the south. Humans have survival instincts |

kjhova:When talk about the core north, we are talking about northern states with with high poverty rate, illiteracy, religious extremism, lazy and dependent state government etc. Northern states like Bornu, jigawa, Kano, Zamfara etc fits the description |

izzou:A revenue balancing fund will be created to augment states with poor IGR or worst case, the states will be dissolved to form federating units with better income. That said, there is no state in Nigeria that can not raise IGR astronomically but most governors are brain dead and are always looking forward to commissioner for finance returning with cheques from Abuja monthly. |

Pesuzok:The southern states will survive. Infact the southern region is one of the regions prepared for restructuring |

Which useless restructuring he's using to scam people. What we need is mass employment for youth to reduce suffering. Restructuring is meaningless without solving problems on ground. Atiku is a thief and he should learn from Dangote, you don't need to be president to solve people problem, he's too desperate to loot treasury dry. |

id911:The problem is still not restructuring, lets states like Bayelsa say what they have been doing with the allowances they have been receiving. We have very wicked leaders and restructuring wouldn't change them |

i dey laugh when people think the north will suffer if the country is restructured. The southwest should better work harder to survive if the country is going to be restructured. I am from southwest and i know what am saying. |

Pesuzok:Who wants to come should come but priority will be given to indigenes before non indigenes. Whoever comes and is unable to survive then chooses the path of crime will be dealt with according to the law. My state for example would probably be in the top 5 richest with indigenous people enjoying the spoils while migrants from other states do the labour as it is in Dubai and every other hydrocarbon rich states. |

oooduancalmdown:i get you but yorubas have been calling for restructuring has far back 1967,68 after ironsi introduced unitary system.restructuring is another word for going back to what the founding fathers agreed upon. |

| Re: There's No Alternative To Restructuring - Atiku Counters President Buhari by Jethrolite(m): 12:08pm On Jun 27, 2018 |
olas24u:I sometimes think in terms of regions but I believe if states are dissolved into regions it will create unnecessary agitation that could lead to the whole process failing. Copying what America is doing is better than collapsing states into regions then bringing in the federal system. If Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta States are collapsed to form a region, that would be a region too big to properly handle but as we currently are with governors and LG chairmen, that is by far a better organisation and government will become very responsible to the people as most developmental activities would be handled by LG chairmen with states handling inter LG affairs. There also would be no need for money wasting agencies like PTDF, NDDC and others. |

olas24u:Sister mi, lets be truthful to ourselves. Nigeria can never be restructured. The North won't support it. Even if Yoruba, Niger deltans, Igbos, and middle belt do, it won't be enough. People that agitate for restructuring are not sincere or they are simply wasting their time. Nigeria will never be restructured |

Before PMB became president he was alleged to have said that Nigeria was structured to fail. Then he became president and he started singing a new tune. So, why should anybody believe the new contestant? |

Pesuzok:Restructuring will do a lot more good than harm. There are so many benefits in it than continue to depend on the current overcentralized structure. Opponents of restructuring should be regarded as enemies of the State and those who don't want the country to achieve her potentials |

izzou:And how does he expect to get the support of the 19 Northern States to actualize this agenda. The truth is that Atiku knows that he can't do it but he needs to tell the people of Southern Nigeria what they want to hear! |

olas24u:I really can't tell when the battle for resource control started but I do not think it was as far back as 1993, Ken Saro Wiwa was like the beginning for me before Ibori and Odili took it up years later. Niger Deltans really weren't interested in oil revenue for a very long time and were mostly ignorant to oil or the revenues that accrued, we were very contended with fishing and farming. Not too long ago when Chevron Nigeria Limited was still call Gulf Oil, they had to go into the villages to beg for staff. It was that bad. Not until recently did enlightenment truly come to the Niger Delta. I could be wrong though. I haven't researched it. Just speaking from what I personally witnessed. |

kjhova:The core North is the North-west and North-east part of Nigeria and are dominated by Hausa-Fulanis. Kano, Yobe, Sokoto, Jigawa, Bornu, Kaduna, Katsina and so on are states that make up the core North |
