2. Voting Leaders Due To Petty Reasons: @bolded Op see your mouth! Has an Igbo person ever had the privilege of being fronted as a presidential aspirant in this God-forsaken country? In the 90's, Igbos supported and voted for that thief called MKO but what did they get from the yorubas today as appreciation if not backstabbing and hate? yorubas and northerners are the only ones who do this rubbish you made as an example. They did it in 2015 because buhari is from the north and osibande from the South west...now look where we are today. |

skales67: Exactly my point, Sir! It's very wrong to vote someone base on TRIBE! I see you are in support of an Igbo president, but leadership qualities should come first before tribe. By the way, I only used 'igbo' as an example; no hard feelings. Besides, I am from the East. 2 Likes |

Government collect tax from organisations, we shouldn't be giving excuse for their non-performance. Its attitude like yours that's destroying the country |

Nigerians also dash thire culture away too easyly. We give it to Africa and not Nigeria. Our ethnic foods are now being adopted all over Africa without credit to Nigeria. After you give it to Africa, they soon begin to believe that it is thers. I even saw on Bela Nijer, some Ghanaians arguing bitterly that Gele is something they always did and Nigeria didn't event it. Developing identity helps create unity and consolidates a path to development. I'm sure, I'm putting this wrong. How can I put it? In the absence of Nigerians consolidating what they have, your foods, your head wraps style, your flora and fona dance styles, attire and the rest and ensuring those are identyfide as Nigerian and not African, the outside world is better able to identify you as corrupt. Your identity then becomes corrupt people. Inspite of Nigerians huge, huge cultural heritage, individuals from around the world are easily able to dismiss you as corrupt people. This happens becuse Nigeria embraces the idea of Africa , and hence gives what is theirs away to Africa, and leaves nothing for themselves as Nigerians. Without identify, you have no foundation, no blueprint, nothing to guide you, nothing from which to draw reference and gather strength. The English are fair minded, eat fish n chips, had empire French, high culture, wines, fashionable Indians turbans , curry, taj mahal Chinese, Confucius, chopsticks, kung fu Japanese, kimono, tea, karate, mount Fuji, blossoms America, Hollywood, fast food, brash, Science and technology South Africa, mandala, Zulu , rainbow people, Jamaica, ragae , ganja, flag Kenya, runners, Masai, Serengeti Ethiopia, straight nose and lips, Coptic church, Salassy Saudi Arabia, Islam Pakistan, Islam Nuclear bomb Nigeria, corruption Blame my stupid phone for all spelling errors, keeps changing what I wrote after i`ve gone on further |

khadaffi:The OP lists one of the problems with Nigerians as being an attitude of entitlement, and here you go providing a perfect example of such an attitude in action! Isn't any "government" drawn from amongst the ranks of the people, and selected by the very same people? Who then is to blame when governments fail at their duties, but the very citizens who refuse to hold their chosen representatives accountable? In any case, soiling one's environment with trash is not some form of "protest" against government inaction, but an act of selfishness that ends up harming those who engage in it just as much as the rest of their neighbors: even disregarding the existence of LGAs, nothing stops the residents of a neighborhood from teaming together to collectively handle their rubbish disposal, nothing other than the entitled, selfish and lazy attitude that "government" should handle it because "I've paid my taxes" - even though the vast majority of Nigerians pay nothing at all worth noting tax-wise. 3 Likes 1 Share |

OP how could you forget this factor. If people either dont demand government do their jobs they are at fault. Many would rather praise them for doing bare minimum and gloss over faults. Non enforcement of laws: The Edo governor practically begs the people not to throw refuge in trash ever few rainy season. If police simply started fining and forcing commuity service for violaters and at worst jail they would come to their senses. Take traffjc laws. Everyknows not to drive crazy since they took drivers Ed but alot of drivers dont obey rules. What makes people in US act right is fact fear of tickets. If they think theres a cop their who demeanor changes. |

DevelopNaija: More wisdom sir. The last point jokes is really a subtle but major problem. When we fail to acknowledge our discomfort by assuaging our sufferings with the covering of jokes, it limits our determination to rise above our problems. While jokes help us get by to avoid depression, it has also inhibited us from lifting ourselves above our problems and challenges. When we are supposed to challenge the leaders/politicians we would rather make a joke and accept our fate. I dare say some of these online memes and jokes are sponsored by politicians and has become anothet opium for the masses. Let's get serious, it's not even funny anymore. 1 Like 1 Share |

Wipe out corruption and nepotism in Nigeria and she will be a 1st class country equaling America and Western Europe. It's that simple because corruption is killing Nigeria. |

omohayek: Who says soiling ones environment is a form of protest. It is a failure of government. Stop excusing the government for its failures. The people cannot come together to handle their rubbish disposal because that is the reason they formed the government in the first place. Tell me one ideal society where people after having a goverment still come together to take the job of government. And saying we don't pay tax is nonsense. I don't know which part of Nigeria you stay and the kin of job you do but here in the southern part people pay their taxes. Infact they are over yaxed by various means known as multiple taxation. If you drive a car and you renew your papers you are taxed, if you drink a beer you are paying a type of tax known a Indirect tax. The reason it appears to you most of us don't pay tax is because most of the population are unemployed. Did you expect an unemployed man to pay his tax. In any case if we all are not unemployed and we still do not pay tax who is to be held responsible? Me? Is that not a failure of the government. I repeat stop blaming the citizens for what was caused by the government. The biggest problem we have is that Nigerians are not enlightened on their role and that of government. We feel if the govt don't perform a private org should instead take the role. |

khadaffi: Yes Sir, the government did provide refuse bins and refuse dump sites. Okay, let's assume the government doesn't provide or does not implement appropriate strategies to environmental issues; but is that enough justification as to why people litter the streets with dirts? |

DevelopNaija: Give me one example of a clean environment anywhere in the world where the government does not have any sttategy for environmental issue yet the environment is clean. And to your earlier assertion that govt provide refuse dump but people refuse to use it. Please that is a lie except you are talking about few states in the south, I'm assuming you are addressing the Nation not Lagos or calabar. This site is used by people from various states. When You go to most states in Nigeria, nothing like that. ***modified*** Ok I get you now. What you are saying is dump sites. Goodness me. Dump sites can't solve anything. Jesus! Let's take an example. In practical term, how do these dirt get to the street? When someone eats or drink pure water in ojota or Ikorodu. Say Ikorodu garage. Is there a refuse bin close by where you can put the dirt to avoid you throwing it on the street. As you walk the sttrets there should be visible bins everywhere. I know Lagos is trying in this area but how many states are following suit? |
