It is no longer news that abia state government has rejected any plan of federal government to use its land as a grazing reserve. I really don't blame them due to the herds men reputation of late which has been soiled further by the recent Killing in benue state.

Abia state is a state that has little or no federal government presence. So you can imagine my shock when even without been named the government is in a hurry to reject this offer without even hearing what federal government plan

If federal government is serious about ending the menace caused by cattle rearers then I would suggest the following which will make States like abia state regrets it's decision

1) federal government should encourage sells of packaged meat products

2) grazing reserve land should be allocated or bought from 6 States in 6 geopolitical zone by both government and private enterprise

3) grazing land should be adequately fenced and local indigene should be used as security

4) open land grazing law should be enacted with serous fine. Nobody should be seen with cattle on roads or Street

5) adequate transportation should be provided to move this life stock from one grazing reserve to another..

Most of you won't agree but if this my little common sense can be implemented I believe this could be the end of fulani attack.

If this is is what you call common sense then I advise you go and reconcile with your brain ooo

Abia State, is a peaceful and multiple business friendly environment, the presence of the cattle ranch is not needed, I want to encourage the Abia State government led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to reject any form of grazing and land for cattle allocation no matter the situation or enticement attached to it.... kudos to the government, kudos to the governor, we stand against grazing law

am not forcing anything on anybody but the killings is becoming something else our security forces seam to be dormant and guess what u shouting this have not lost any of ur loved one to this senseless killing

So the only solution to incessant Fulani attack is to give up our land? What happened to deploying law enforcement agent to checkmate them? Primary role of govt is to protect lives and properties of its citizenry...... Ours has failed and to get any semblance of protecting lives.... They are giving out our properties as incentives to the attackers..... This is another low!


If there is any ranching at all.... Private investors should handle that and pay appropriate rent to the state



Our lack of vision in Nigeria too has left their occupation so lucrative for generations that we don't have anything to persuade them to leave what they are doing for a 'better' communal or ranching life style. Imagine if with our education and enlightenment, we have set up ranches and made success out of it and drive down the price of cattle or even build a virile export industry around it..... Fulanis would have embrace the improved method of doing things. Boycotting Fulani beef will be a difficult thing cos we rarely agree on anything in Nigeria but imagine a glut in their cattle market.... That can help us to get them to listen to the cry of the civilized populace.

U r been emotional about this issue, do not be surprised tht years after this same template will be adopted to end this crisis after more pple would have died.

First of all d security forces cannot be everywhere, there r places n this country tht getting there is very difficult cos of the public services available. This country is too big for the number of pple policing it. What's d strength in terms of size of our police force........dnt forget tht d military is already fighting boko haram in the NE, in the south south militancy. So u see our military forces r already over stretched.

Now, if u want an end to this crisis, only a peace resolution will work......using force might even lead to more bloodshed.

Why cnt states give up land for grazing reserves??......is it because the pple who r herders r Fulani or because pple feel it is a private business, so govt has no business building ranches?

What pple like u fail to understand is tht, we have a crisis situation on our hands, we have to try every means to solve the matter. Even if ranching is a private business can't govt build these ranches n make dese herders pay to use the ranch??

If govt can build airports, seaports used by private airlines and shipping companies, y CNT it also build ranches??....y r u not asking govt if it is supposed to build airports with public money since the airports are used by private airlines.
