Messi was fantastic for roughly the 38 matches in laliga. He had goals, assists and mesmerising plays as only he could produce. He won the league and Copa de rey. in the CL, he was not very good and they crashed out early. he had more than 40 goals and I think the highest in Europe.

CR7 was poor in laliga earlier on. but fantastic in the CL up to the quarterfinals. still scored similar goals to messi ovarll and won the CL.

Kane Had a very good season with 30 goals in the league alone. he had a good CL up to the 16 stages and scored goals there too. he actually hard more than 50 goals for club and country last year. But he didn't win anything.

However, winning the world cup for Kane would change everything.

To me, anybody who scores enough goals should rival Ronaldo now, he's a striker now and does next to nothing other than scoring. his performance is ordinary if he doesn't score. messi does bring goals and magic. he doesn't have to score in a match to be the "the man of that match". perhaps, that's is the only thing Kane would never be able to match, messi's genius.

But I think Messi and Ronaldo won it because they had amazing numbers in terms of Goals and assists. Which counted against 4 of them.

Belgium only beat Brazil because of Brazilian players like Fernandinho, Coutinho, Neymar and Jesus had a poor game and they also got a bit lucky with a clear penalty decision that wasn't given and some balls into the box that didn't quite set up for any of the Brazilian players to finish, Hazard played well today but he's not a class above Neymar, he has had worse tournaments than Neymar before, was below average in 2014 world cup and Euro 2016.

Belgium has had a strong squad for like 6 years but never reached a semi finals of any major tournament with that squad, they are one of the dark horses to win this world cup before it started but they were never the favourites to win it because of their previous poor performances, I believe France can now win it if they can beat Belgium but if Belgium wins it then they become the favourites to win the world cup.

It's been a weird world cup, I think this is the first time that I've seen neither Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Spain in the quarterfinals of a world cup. Its been an exciting tournament but the only sad thing is that it's become an Euro cup since its only European teams in the semis and no African teams made it to knockout stages.
