They think it should be able to jump from a feudal, agricultural backwater to an advanced industrial economy in a matter of weeks, not even decades or centuries, as happens elsewhere. Deluded people. Advise to Nigerians: Learn to enjoy and appreciate what you have. Less than 20% of countries on earth are developed countries. Your situation is not unique. Accept that Nigeria is most unlikely to be an advanced nation in your lifetime. Your role is simply to contribute to make it better for the next generation, and leave the rest to God.

Alternatively, you can continue being angry, disgruntled, hateful of your countrymen, hateful of your government, country, etc, until you depart this world. Sure would be a wasted life.

I will have to agree with you. A lot of people are actually ignorant of what industrialization entails. Most of the nations we admire today are where they are because of decades of activism,centuries in some cases. Sometimes, I'm of the opinion (though unpopular), that, we simply demand more than what the nation can offer at this stage which in essence leads to more angst and frustration.

They are small countries, with very few ethnic issues. Why are they not all like Japan? Get this. On your own, you would, like the aforementioned countries, be very vulnerable to warlords, western power influence, economic sabotage, lack of market access, anonymity, dependence, and irrelevance. At last, an insightful contributor. Nigerians have lost track of the meaning of life. Life is about contributing to whatever society you find yourself in. Not complaining constantly about it and ridiculing it. In Victorian England, poverty was the norm. The masses reacted by forming charity groups that built 'soup kitchens' for the poorest, and houses to shelter the homeless. This was while the elite were living in serious luxury. Today, those private charities still exist, helping the less fortunate. In Nigeria we see kids of 10 hawking on the street. Why can't we help to make their lives better? We don't need to wait for the Government. BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE.

This small time thinking. The Igbo nation should be independent and targeting the 7 billion global market, not the small 200 million Nigerian market.

Switzerland is just a population of just 8 million people but Switzerland has a bigger GDP than Nigeria. So nobody cares about your population, what matters is what you can offer.
