President Muhammadu Buhari has observed that that Senate President Bukola Saraki persevered through the course of his prosecution in the courts to establish his innocence. In his reaction to the Senate President’s acquittal by the Supreme Court over asset declaration case, the president also observed that the country’s judicial system, no matter the challenges it faces, is truly working and no one should be allowed to undermine or break it. A statement issued by Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, quoted him as saying: “I have seen many instances where individuals and groups seek the destruction of the judicial institution in the foolish thinking of saving their skin, instead of going through the painstaking process of establishing their innocence. “In the case of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, I have seen him take the tortuous path of using the judicial process. He persevered, and in the end, the highest court of the land, the Supreme Court, says he is not guilty as charged. “This is what I have done in the three elections in which I was cheated out, before God made it possible for me to come here the fourth time I ran for the office.” The President said the Senate President’s journey from the lowest to the highest court of the land provides an important example for Nigerians to emulate. The Supreme Court on Friday upheld Appeal Court’s decision discharging and acquitting the former Kwara State governor. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/saraki-persevered-through-court.html

Buhari just wasted valuable resources for meaningless political vendetta. There are three power bloc in APC that made Buhari victorious, the CPC bloc got presidency, the ACN got Vice presidency And the NPDP got senate presidency. Jonathan also tried nailing tinubu using same asset declaration which he failed, I am 100% certain even Buhari didn't declare all his assets completely if not how did Zahra and Aisha Buhari get millions to buy fashion accessory, and Yusuf can buy power bikes worth millions just to race with a friend yet Buhari couldn't afford N24m presidential form |

In any egalitarian society, upholding the independence of the judiciary is a critical aspect of rule of law. PMB has once again proved that "no one is above the law" of the land by making Saraki go through the judiciary to prove his innocence. He has also proved that he will not meddle in the affairs of the third arm of the government (the Judiciary) if it remains above board. |
