I support legalization of guns.

Having been kidnapped before, the DPO recommended that I get a gun, but I decided not to.

But if Buhari wins again, I am getting my gun.

I agree with the Senator. As it stands in this country, the police is not a guarantee of safety any more. Each day we hear people being murdered and nothing is done about it. Safety in this country is almost zero. It's getting scarier and scarier each day. Legalizing guns will improve individual safety, at least the bad guys will know that they could also be hurt.

That's not the solution. The Yoruba have a saying that piercing the head is not the solution for headaches.
The solution still lies in the state. Government should be more responsible to its responsibility of providing security for every citizen.
America has not been able to come out of the conundrum she put herself about 200 yrs ago. Today, and for far too long, it has spiralled out of control.
The UK has been able to manage its gun crisis by beefing up security up to the point - that's the point they are now- that gun crime has reduced drastically. Criminals now resort to knife as their weapon.

In as much as everybody is screaming legalise gun legalise gun but the truth is that the Nigerian society is not ripe for gun legalisation due to the mentality of the people.

Legalising gun in a country like Nigeria will surely do us more harm than good. This one that gun is not even legalised people are getting it illegally and using it to undo both their enemies and innocent people alike then not to talk of legalising guns.

You only legalise gun in country and environment whose most citizens first value human lives; whose citizens Know that jungle justice is a crime; whose citizens maintain sanity in many instances; whose citizens are law abiding; whose citizens obey common traffic rules; whose citizens don't use political godfatherism to out one another; whose citizens are united regardless of any cultural, political, religious, ethic differences.

Anything order than those things gun legalisation will easily throw the country into high level of anarchy and discombobulation than we already are witnessing.

When the foolish Government failed totally in curbing the insecurity issue in Nigeria, they now want to legalize Gun and other fire arms so that its citizen can be killing themselves. I'm not in support of legalisation of guns, for some reasons that many reasonable people had explained here but I think the senate should amend the immigration law of this country, our boarder is weak. both the customs and immigration officer need to go on a thorough orientation redress

if our boarder is really strong, illegal fire arms shouldn't have enter this country and if the two agencies debunked weak boarder then the FG is responsible for the illegal guns in the possession of herdsmen, bandits whatever

how can a whole senator speak like that? you legalize gone then chaos will be the order of the day. everyone's life will be in danger, the moment you quarrel or fight a person the next thing you do is to get your gun and shoot. there will be complete breakdown of law and order, the police, army and other law enforcement agencies won't be able to curb or control the general population, there would be anarchy. The danger will be unspeakable

I fully subscribed. Until our institutions are strong enough to protect the lives of citizrns of this country, every man...and woman should have a right to bear arms. The levels of terrorism and brigandage is as bad as it was between the indigenous mohave indians and the Caucasian invaders/settlers in the old west of America. In order to protect themselves, their families and property from destruction society adopted the bearing of arms as there was scant law enforcement.

Today the similarities in Nigeria are striking, the settlers are being invaded by fulani and Libyan cowboys with law enforcement frequently out gunned and out manoeuvred. Isn't it time we turn the entire populace to one solid block of defence.

Makes total sense to me.
