This is the hate many people don't understand, Nigerians are pained Igbos came out of the civil war stronger than they were. let me tell you, all these pentecostal pastors like Adeboye and co hate igbo progress but you guys don't know, he is fond of making jokes about igbo civil war tragedy and the girl eating lizard she picked during the war. There was one animal i busted here calling himself Developeast, he claimed to be Igbo but its always on painment whenever a project is commissioned in SE or an individual put one decking on another building.

This Enugu thread is a dagger to many people's chest if you dont know, travel wide Nigeria and see the reason they hate us, they live in antiquated mud horizontal buildings while we build concrete vertical structure but they claim they are develop when 100 people share one bathroom and toilet in their dusty villages. These people you see on many Igbo threads trying to cause confusion arent Igbos, they want to fracture us.

I will repeat it, they hate us because they thought after the war we will be lining the streets with green bowls begging for alms.

God bless you brother!
The hatred towards Igbo is worse when they see any type of progress in the East. They took ALL the federal projects, Federal jobs, Federal Civil service, and all economic enablers, like sea ports, yet they are not happy.

The worst is that they target innocent hard working people to try and kill their business simply because they are Igbo. See what DANGOTE did to IBETO and what GT bank is trying to do to INNOSON. They ban Igbo companies at the flimsiest excuses.

Yet, somebody like DANGOTE who will not build even a hurt in the entire SE is selling most of his cement to Igbos? Why can't Igbos buy other brands to protest the evil actions of these people against Igbo people? Why are we always distracted from doing what we must to boycott these people trying so hard to impoverish us?

I am hoping contractors like Spyder and other home owners try to buy cement from other companies and NOT Dangote. If IBETO did what Dangote did, the Emirs will issue a Fatua that anyone selling his cement or products in northern Nigeria be attacked by the youths of the area.

We should start thinking seriously and sanction anyone that plots the destruction of Ndigbo NOT GIVING THEM CHIEFTAINCY TITLES !

The roads are bad, most houses look like they are going to fall at any time, the whole place looks dirty; sometimes when I go to New heaven or independence layout I wonder if abakpa where I live is also part of Enugu state.

Can we meet in Abakpa today so you show me the roads you are talking of?

The major roads from Abakpa bridge on the mammy market end till Nkwo Nike at the Local government end has no single pot hole. The Road from Nowaa filling station till Texaco, and into the streets of Abakpa is very smooth, the major road from Achiakpa bus stop linking Liberty is very good, I think it was renewed last year or so. The same thing with the streets from Last bus stop into other areas.

Why are you comparing yourself to people who are equally doing the wrong thing. Aspire to be better. So, you will feel better about your substandard projects just because other regions are equally building substandard projects ?? What happens if we design the best buildings in the world ? Are European super humans , even Kenyans.
Oh I think I kinda get your point now.
But it's the way you made it sound like South east was lagging behind in a First World Nigeria undecided

I have some additions to make. I have read several accounts by foreign and Nigerian nationals about owerri as the worst sh1thole in Nigeria, Africa and world at large. owerri was recorded as one of the most polluted cities in 2016. All the major towns in Imo state- owerri, orlu and okigwe were recorded among the most polluted towns in 2016, now the 2018 owerri equally recorded as among the most polluted places on earth. I think our igbo leaders should start doing something about imo state, particularly owerri because it has turned to a complete sh1thole and dungeon. owerri is a disgrace to the igbos, it is littered with bad roads, filth, flood and all manner of environmental mess that has made Imo state people to rush out in their millions to Onitsha and Enugu where they can live a better life and earn a decent living. Today there are over 2million imolites living and working in Onitsha. In owerri people eat and drink human faeces because their borehole waters and food are contaminated at their backyard because there is no pipe borne water in the entire Imo state. Aba has surpassed owerri in cleanliness and infrastructure. Igbos should join hands to save owerri because it has become a thing of shame to the Igbos. Recent study showed that owerri must be demolished to the ground if it can be rescued. However this take a political will to do so, as we don't know if the incompetent failed governor who has not been able to clean filth and fix roads can afford to do so in order to save the town. It is time Igbo leaders, Ohaneze etc, take up the mantle and do what is right in the sh1thole called owerri once and for once.

You are a complete DUMMY. Some of you backward mentality people couldn't recognize excellence even if you are SLAPPED with it. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT MEDIOCRITY IN IGBOLAND. Not really surprised that some of you are offended about it because YOU JUST DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER. All you know is what you have lived with all your life. That's why I keep advising people like you to visit other developed places even here in Africa.

There's no sugar coating it. There are some places in igboland like aba that makes me ASHAMED TO BE AN IGBOMAN. I have read articles written about onitsha and aba by white people that depicted the place to be a complete shithole. Somebody here on nairaland even posted a study about air pollution, and igbo cities of aba and onitsha were in the forefront as the leading cities in nigeria with the worst air quality. As usual, people like your DUMB ASS tried to refute the study, which is EVIDENCE of living in DENIAL. Any human being from an advanced CIVILIZATION, who set their foot in igboland will immediately conclude that the people who live in this environment are very BACKWARDS. The first time I returned to nigeria after being away for about 12 years, sent shivers down my spine. The entire landscape looked like Hiroshima and Nagasaki after an atomic bomb was dropped on it.
We have practically done everything the wrong way. We have built our houses with the wrong materials. For example, instead of building with an assortment varieties of bricks, tiles and granite, whose outer surface lasts forever, we used block and cement. The paint job on the cement starts to peel off after a few years. We built GUTTERS and called it DRAINAGE. The gutters end up becoming home to sand, refuse and congealed slime. We have zero environmental sanitation system. The entire igboland is buried in heaps and heaps of refuse. The aba portharcourt express way is LITTERED with mountains of refuse. Because we don't do any LANDSCAPING whatsover, the land is ravaged by erosion. One of the reasons why our roads are covered with sands is because of so many untarred roads, but also lack of landscaping our environment. There's no running water in our cities. We have substituted water treatment plants, where the water is treated before distribution, with BOREHOLE water that is not treated. We have buried all our human waste (raw sewage) in our backyards. Think about this for a minute. If aba or onitsha, two igbo big cities have one million houses, the human beings living in these million houses are essentially LIVING WITH THEIR PEE AND POO. If you don't know how DANGEROUS that is, you should read a UNICEF study about the possibility of borehole water contaminated with faeces. Because of this large-scale environmental degradation in igboland, OUR RIVERS ARE DYING. Some of our free flowing rivers I saw as a young man in the seventies are all DRYING up. That is very very dangerous because rivers and not boreholes should be the source of our drinking water.
We have no rules and no regulations for everything. People are trading everywhere and anywhere, on the street, sidewalks, median strips, with thousands of others carrying stuff in their heads hawking one thing or the other.
The SHOCK about all these things I've raised, is not that it's happening in igboland, but why did WELL MEANING INFLUENTIAL IGBOS KEEP QUITE ABOUT IT. All I hear is how aba and nnewi is the Taiwan or Japan of africa; or how abiriba is small London, which to me, have to be the biggest joke of this century. It's an INSULT of monumental proportion to compare aba and nnewi with Japan or Taiwan with anything whatsoever. Building big houses with giant pillars does not make abiriba or any other igbo village with big mansions as comparable to London.
So you keep reproducing and inventing new names on nairaland to post comments, but in the end, you are one psychotic, demented useless igboman, that you need to check yourself to the nearest psychiatrist hospital.

It appears obvious that this company does not have the funds to execute this project out of their own money and sell the homes to the public as they originally envisaged.

I think what they need to do now is to sell the land to interested members of the public and have an agreement on the type of building for each area of the estate. In this way, private individuals can be building the structures and the company will use the money they have to complete the roads, electricity, piped water and other infrastructure for the estate.

I don't think they can financially build all the homes required and sell. They need help in building the homes and they can provide infrastructure needed in the estate. They can recoup some of the money for infrastructure through the cost of the land.

Centenary city does not own these set of buildings at the entrance road of Centenary city. Just like the new Jedidiah estate at the entrance road of Centenary city isn't owned by them. These are estates by another company.

Centenary property starts from the point where they situated their gate. Hopefully, they will start planting flowers and trees along that road now. it helps to appreciate the value of the land as well as beautify the environment.

They should use the little money remaining to do short fences on all the plots of land there now. This will prevent people from encroaching on other plots land when the time for fencing comes. Then folks will be in court for years, delaying the project even more.

They should put short fences around each plot before they sell it, So that whoever buys the plot can only make the fences higher and not extend the perimeter of each plot of land.

They are selling land there to interested public and never really planned to build the houses. Their work there is to maintain a good city plan in the area and maintain infrastructure when built.

I already got a plot there

The bridge looks solid and aesthetically good too!

What's the name of the contractor? So we can recommend them to some states in the South East that usually have inexperienced contractors execute substandard and ugly projects!

Abakpa is fine and getting good attention. The roads are good and gutters are working. Traffic blockage is being fought by the new traffic wardens in Town. But, don't expect Abakpa to become Independence layout overnight. Abakpa had a major setback as it was not well planned like other parts of town. Remember, Abakpa was a village of Nike people where ancestral homes were scattered before the coming of the white man. It won't be easy to plan it now.

However, the upper parts of Nike like Ibagwa, Amorji, Edem and Umuchigbo are mapping out lands for some sort of planned development. We hope the development of those listed towns will correct the way we see that end of town.

Oga Spyder do you know of a new layout called Graceland Layout adjacent Golf estate? This is in Ngwuagu Udi L.G.A. Enugu. If know this area, what are your thoughts about it. Thanks

No, I don't know Graceland estates, and Golf course estate is not around Nkwoagu Udi but in Enugu GRA.

There's a planned estate around Nkwoagu Udi, but not much is happening there. I passed there today and its still bushy.
