dreamwords:When electricity was discovered isn't important except for history students, engineering students should be more concerned with newer, better, safer and more efficient ways to generate that electricity. An outdated curriculum holds the entire engineering community of the nation back. |

GrandPa01:I did part of my medical study in South African and when I returned back to Nigeria, I was hit with 1 week of depression. The health care system in South Africa is far above that which I have seen in Nigeria. I was disappointed with this country. |

dreamwords:It's not about the laws, they don't change unless new discoveries are made. It's about the technology and method and those change constantly, it'll be like someone teaching you how to operate a computer today using Windows ME. |

dreamwords:This argument smh. Are the Lead acid batteries and internal combustion engines of the past comparable to what we have today? If i taught you how to build an engine using technology and method of the 80s and then told you to build an engine that can compete with the efficiency and performance of an engine made last year how well do you think you'll do? Or if i asked you to make a smartphone battery in the size and capacity of today's battery but only with knowledge of it was done 20 years ago will you be successful? |

It could depend on your thesis. Some will require references beyond 10 years, other's, it will be plain silly |

dreamwords:Those are laws that rarely changed. You can quote them using recent works done on identified gap. Even the Power System Stability,1964, referenced by the lecturer has recent edition published on March 1995. Meaning, the author has identified certain areas that no longer hold values or can be improved. The lecturer was just lazy. |

It shall never be well with Nigerian public uni lectuers. Amen! Take your kids to private uni, a mushroom one is better than the so called UI or OAU. Thank me later. If you can not afford abroad uni. |

Even most Nigerian lecturers send their kids to private universities or schools in abroad. They don't trust the system. I became tired of our educational system while I was in 300L. I attended most classes because of 75% attendance. I once challenged one oft my lecturers that what he is teaching us is obsolete, He replied; "My brother don't blame me, blame the school curriculum". When I was in my final, I stopped stressing myself for course works since I was already on 2.1. |
