I am confused because on the website I saw a list of documents including Transcript, medical license and internship documents. By my calculation I have about 7 documents. Is this correct?

U only need your mbbs certificate for source verification to get an ECA report. A notarised copy of the certificate along with ur international passport and certified identity form printed from your account should be sent via courier to mcc. Please read the page 0 of this thread to have a better understanding of the process.

Documents sent to MCC- May 4
Received - May 9
Viewable online- May 14
Under review - June 4
Reviewed and not accepted- June 4. This was due to a part of the certificate not showing on the photocopy
Another photocopy sent via email- June 4
Reviewed and accepted- June 29
Ready for ECFMG submission- June 29
Submitted to ECFMG- June 30
Verification returned (passed)- July 6

I kept contacting them via chat on a weekly basis to know the status of my application.
I'm glad I've gone pass this stage. The photocopying error caused me an extra 4 weeks.

Ok. But I'm surprised it's still at that stage since its almost a month it was recieved. It should have been at least sent to ECFMG by now if not even verified. I really don't know what could be causing d delay. Maybe their workload has increased. I guess u just have to keep calling and hopefully they comply.

Thanks for sharing your timeline. I'm pleasantly surprised that they accepted the second copy u sent via email. It would have been extra expenses to send again via courier.

When I first saw their email that my document was rejected my heart skipped, until I saw where they said I didn't need to notarize it and I could scan and send via email.

Thus far, i have gathered the following info as regards an MBBS ECA.
1)open an account on www.physiciansapply.ca a $278 non-refundable fee is charged.
2)request for a source verification (svr) of your qualification on the physicians apply site (this is done through ECFMG). It costs $157.
3)Send mcc a copy of your mbbs degree and a cover letter (downloaded from your physicians apply account) via courier.
4)2-3 working days after receiving no. 3, ECFMG sends a request for a source verification of your degree to your school via regular mail (with a copy of your degree, a form to be filled and a pre-addressed envelope). If the school does not respond within 60 days, they will send another request to the school. At this point you can opt for a courier delivery to your school. They will only repeat this step 4 up to a maximum of 3 times.
5)ECFMG responds to your school and processes your verification within 20 working days and then you can proceed to step 6.
6)Request for an ECA from mcc. this would cost $102 and would take 21 working days to process.
7)Pay a courier fee for delivery of your ECA to Nigeria (about $140).
Note that step 2 may take as long as 100 days or more seeing as most Nigerian schools claim not to receive this mail. To speed up your process, you wanna keep tabs on your school right after ecfmg requests for a source verification and ensure they check their mail and then you pay for a courier delivery back to ecfmg. I see my post made it onto a new thread. You may not have intended to pass it on as yours but you for at least copy my name join the content and credit me on the post instead of cc-ing me naaaaaaa. Anyway i think there is a lil correction to step 4. It is only after ecfmg has sent the request 3 times (60 days x 3) and are yet to get a response from your school before you can request for the svr to be sent by courier.

Thank u so much... So there are two things that don't need to be notarized : cover letter and consent release form, right? Everything gets a stamp or seal from a notary public, right?

Pls help a newbie, thank u

Responded to your pm. Your debit card would work as well. Used FCMB and Gtb master cards for payments and they worked just fine.

The pre-addressed envelope mentioned in this post also adding to my confusion

I learnt they do both most times. For my school (Lautech), an email and response was via same means. A friend who studied in Ukraine had hers sent via regular post which took 6weeks to get delivered, her school claimed not to have gotten any email.
I'll suggest that you find out from your school the means through which they've been receiving such request.

You don't need to notarize your certificate too.
Please ensure the notary does everything correctly so you don't have to spend twice on courier and also waste time.

I don't think this is true. Both d copies of ur passport and mbbs degree certificate should be notarised.
