You can book yourself. just go to the airline's website.

Saintp:
Plz guys who have traveled, did you use Travelstart for your flight bookings? Did you experience any issue with them? They seem to have the cheapest fare rates but I'm reading a lot of negative reviews. Are there better options?
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by zengurl: 10:53pm On Jul 15, 2018
You better apply with him, - my candid advice. sponsoring is not that easy once you arrive.

neni83:
Hello all please I would like to know the risk of applying alone without my hubby(unaccompanied) this is because my crs score it's 444 and with hubby it's 437...what are the procedures for sponsoring once i get to canada?

The flight from Lagos to Addis Ababa was calm and uneventful, inflight entertainment was okay, They served lunch (rice and chicken or beef sauce, salad, bread with drinks of your choice) and dinner ( Macaroni and chicken or fish sauce, salad, bread with drinks of your choice). Drinks were served in between meals. Got to Addis Ababa, but the plane wasn't cleared for landing so we spent some time going round in circles till we were finally cleared to land. Passengers going to Canada were grouped and we got on a bus that took us to the airport, the cold was something else, we were directed to the ethiopian airlines gate where we and our hand luggages were searched , the pregnancy certificate was again requested for and then we headed straight to board the plane. Because of the delayed landing there ways no lay over time, the flight took off not long after for Dublin. This plane was smaller than the first one, the seats were smaller and more closely packed, inflight entertainment was the same as the first flight. Breakfast was served (scrambled eggs and some mede mede, bread and beverage of choice). This didn't go round so some people had to be served rice and sauce and the usual combo, I was in this category but at this point I was tired eating the sane thing over and over again, so I took only the salad and tea. We landed in Dublin for refuelling, cleaning and flight crew change, but we didn't get off the plane. We were in Dublin for about 50mins after which the plane took off for Toronto. This flight was about seven hours, I can't remember the meals served, but the flight was uneventful. We landed at YYZ a few minutes behind schedule, meanwhile we had a connecting flight to catch to Edmonton our final destination. We went through arrivals, there was no queue so we went to the vacant counter, we submitted our declaration form and were asked if we had meat to which I answered no, she then asked if we had any animal products as our bags would be searched. I told her we had a little milk for our twins food. She wrote this on the declaration card and waved us on. We went to complete our landing formalities, there were about five people ahead of us on the queue, I was asked to seat with the kids while hubby remained on the queue. When it got to our turn we submitted our COPR and passports, we gave friend's address, the officer processed it, we were back a copy of the COPR. Since it was a sunday, we couldn't get our SIN done so we proceeded to get our luggage's. We spent about 30mins completing the landing formalities. Went to fetch our bags, paid a potter to carry the bags and moved to the custom section. We submitted the declaration forms and we were waved to the right. Went to the officer at the counter, he asked for the milk I was carrying, I gave him the three small sachets of milk, he asked if we had goods to follow we said foodstuff and clothes worth $5000. He filled the form, gave us a copy and asked us to go. We proceeded to air Canada for our flight to Edmonton, of course by this time we had already missed our flight. We were placed on the next available flight at no extra charge, we had to wait about an hour and 30mins for this flight. The downside of this flight was that we couldn't get seats that were close together, but we got three seats at the back for myself and the twins and two seats for hubby and our daughter a few seats ahead. The flight was four hours long, inflight entertainment was good, but food was for sale. The twins were restless and loud the first hour of the flight, but they later settled down and slept through the flight. We landed in Edmonton at about 4:40pm, we got our from air Canada baggage service office, got a minivan yellow taxi and went to our airbnb apartment. The place was really cool and clean, it had everything. I cooked some indomie noodles with smoked Titus, we ate had our baths and went to bed. It felt strange that the sun was still shinning brightly at 9pm. This is Canada, we don land.

hello. I had a baby 7 weeks after landing. What would you like to know?

Congratulations grin grin Although I'm still waiting to receive COPR, I've started getting stuff ready since I intend to do a short landing in October, God willing. I'm sure I'll have more questions, but for now;

1. How comfortable was the trip? did you have a straight flight or is it better to take a connecting one so I can rest and stretch my feet between flights?

2. Thinking of landing in Alberta, how easy or stressful was it getting a doctors appointment and Obgyn in such a short period?

3. Are there any particular documents the Obgyn requested for to make the process easier? (I already intend to take all lab and scan results with me)

4. Costs; I've already done some baby shopping grin seeing as its just a short landing, is it more economical to take the baby stuff I have with me or is it cheaper to just buy there? I'm not very particular about our local food so I don't need to use more than 40% of my baggage allowance for foodstuff.

Thanks a lot

2. What banks would you recommend to open an account?
3. How do I get a bus pass?

Congratulations on your successful landing. One question though, why did you choose to take a flight with 3 stop overs? ie Lagos-Addis Ababa - Dublin-Toronto-Edmonton? Was this not too stressful on yourself (as a pregnant lady) and the kids?

Thank you. The choice was because it was cheaper, it was about 1.49m naira, for all five of us. Other flights cost 4m and above, now compare 4m and 1.49m and you have your answer. Besides it wasn't so stressful, especially for those used to being in one spot for long hours.

Congratulations on your landing, wishing you a favorable stay.
Please i need your guidance. saw this comment from one of your posts

"I don't have a Cotonou stamp on my passport, I have my ID card and that's all I need to cross the border. Lots of people work across the border so an official ID card suffices.."

Now my question. Was this how you explained this? were any concerns raised by the VO as regards this? I took up a course in BR, though it was by correspondence, however, i had to travel to write exams which happened only over a weekend, twice a year, and didnt stamp my passports too.
Your response would really help as i am at crossroads on how to present my case when submitting.

Thanks in anticipation.

Please someone just made mention of 'transit visa', that if my flight is not a direct one: from lagos to edmonton, that i will be asked to show a transit pass at each stop we make. I myself dont even understand this, please can someone clear me?

I want to board ethopian airlines and there will be 2 stops before we finally get to edmonton. According to their website, once you put in your departure and destination, the flight lists comes out and all of them have their stops, the one am choosing even has the least number of hours and stops. How do i know which flight is direct or not and what is this about transit visa? Please i will really appreciate an explanation from someone, thanks guys!

I was 33 weeks when I landed 2 weeks ago
1. There is no straight flight to Canada, you can always walk around the aircraft to stretch your feet and then when you connect cities.

2. There are walk-in clinics which give you requistions for tests and referrals to ob/gyn once you get your Alberta health card .

3. That is sufficient and for information purposes only, they'll still redo theirs.

4. It actually depends on you, if you like labels buying here is better but note that you shouldn't buy so much clothes because of seasonal changes. Buying winter clothes here is definitely better . I didnt shop from Nigeria for my baby, I bought and still buying my stuffs here.

All the best

Which 2 cities will your Ethiopian flight stop at? And for how long?

You only need a transit visa when your plane stops in USA. Anywhere else, you are good to go, unless under some special circumstances.

We left Naija on the 7th of July which was a Saturday via Ethiopian airlines. The flight was booked with their app and the price for that day was one of the cheapest in July 326k. Our flight was for 1:40pm, we arrived at the airport at 9am with 10 suitcases and 5 hand luggages grin(family of five). We had 14 small eva bottles of frozen palm oil spread out in three of the suitcases containing clothes. The scanner picked one of the suitcases and we were asked to open it for a search, I was asked what it contained and I told them palm oil. They asked me to bring it out, I fished out one bottle and they had an argument amongst themselves about the fact that it was frozen, then they took it and asked hubby to settle them. Me I sha jejely zipped my bag and left them to do their thing, thankful that they got just one out of 14 bottles Yippee!!! And no they didn't return the bottle. We were stopped again by a custom officer to come for a check of our foodstuff, 7 of the 10 suitcases contained foodstuff, dried fish, smoked fish, crayfish, egusi, ogbono, garri e.t.c. The potter who helped us with the luggage's asked me to declare just one bag containing food, so I pointed to a suitcase that didn't contain much food stuff. They saw beans and dried fish and stated they were agricultural products and I needed to fill a form, I filled a form and a sticker was brought for the bag. The sticker cost 2k and we were told that bags containing food without the sticker would not be cleared. We sha parted with 2k for that one bag and ignored the other bags. Next we moved to Ethiopian airways check in point and the bags were weighed, we had weighed all the bags at home with a handheld digital scale so they were all within the 23kg limit. Hubby was asked for the pregnancy certificate that must be filled by preggies to show that they are fit to fly, I had previously downloaded the form and taken it to my doctor to complete and sign. Hubby presented the form and was asked to make photocopies, he made and submitted the photocopies and we were done with checking in. We spent some time with friends and family, filled the yellow immigration forms, bid our loved ones good bye and went in. Our hand luggage's were searched then we proceeded to the lounge . Waited for a while and then we boarded the flight from Lagos to Addis Ababa

To be continued...

Hi dear! You went with ethopian airlines? Please was transit visa requested before you boarded again at your stops?
