Isn't this the same PDP who, when they were in power set up Virgin Nigeria Airways some years ago, that was to be our new national airline, and was supposed to be the revivial of our dreams...only for Branson to pull out few years later, followed by another story that we would 'continue' with the airline...which then failed appropriately one year later?

PDP should explain in detail what happened to Virgin Nigeria...or Air Nigeria ....before they come and throw stones at APC initiative. Are they scared that APC's airline would actually work?

(Then there was the story of making Arik Air our national carrier....which ended being a story...same PDP).

As for me, APC should forget about airline for now. Anything government business in Nigeria always gets messed up by Nigerians.

I like the idea of having a national carrier. It is long overdue! But certain issues must be addressed to help the current efforts by the likeable Aviation Minister. Why purchasing 5 new aircraft when we can 'dry lease' or convert the Presidential Fleet to start up the national carrier? How and when will the new investors come in, having taken critical decisions of registration and purchase of start up aircraft? Can the national carrier be fully private sector driven when the name suggests ownership by Nigeria? Who takes operational decisions like insurance, flight scheduling, staffing and regulatory activities when no partnering investors are not on board? Finally, how is the $300 million for purchase of aircraft to be sourced? Is it part of this year's budget or what? I like and respect Hadi Sirika, but he needs to make haste slowly on this delicate matter, especially when nothing is being done to clear all liabilities left behind by the defunct Nigeria Airways. As usual, I wish him well
