The Greater Between Jesus And Holy Spirit ? by iamwhat: 9:32am On Jul 22, 2018
In John 14:28 Jesus clearly states, The Father (Jehovah) is greater than Him but never mentioned the relationship between him and the Holy Spirit. In fact, I can't see anywhere in the Bible Jesus speaks about Holy Spirit being God.
Jesus always talks about Himself being in The Father and vice versa.

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
John 14:10 NKJV

Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
John 14:11 NKJV

At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
John 14:20 NKJV

I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
John 17:23 NKJV
.
.
.
There are many other Bible verses Jesus only speaks about himself and the Father but never talks about the Holy Spirit until He said he'll send a comforter.

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
John 14:16‭-‬17 NKJV

The above is Jesus' description of the Holy Spirit (He called him a Helper) which would be sent by God...

How come people refer to Holy Spirit as God ? and If He's God, is He greater than Jesus ?

NOTE: I'M A BELIEVER I JUST NEED SOME CLARIFICATIONS.

To answer you question, Grandpa is the head.

Now substitute Father, Son and Holy spirit into your list.

Let's represent Jehovah as Grandpa, which is A in your list, Who is B and C ?

How come Jesus didn't mention Him along with the Father ?
Jesus called Him a Helper, an angel could also be a Helper.

The Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are a manifestation of the same thing : God . So none of them is greater . In fact, there is a certain equality among them , especially when it comes to decision making . Take a look at Genesis1:26 and Genesis 11:7. Hope this helps .

I hope you've had a better clarification now sir.
They are Co-equal because they are One and the same God, just different manifestations of Him depending on the need and responsibility that had to be fulfilled.

The Holy Spirit is however the Unlimited Jesus Christ. He is actually the Spirit of Christ.
As a human/flesh, Jesus Christ was limited. His Power could only be manifested where He physically was.
But as the Holy Spirit, His power is available everywhere in the world and beyond at the same time, every time.

More Grace and Wisdom to us all.

pressplay411 in his brilliant post not touching on who is greater between Jesus and Holy Spirit moved me to chip in this.

People refer to the Holy Spirit as God
because the Holy Spirit is recognised as coming from God
and rightly seen as part, that makes up the Godhead

Though the Holy Spirit belongs naturally in the Godhead
people dont pray to the Holy Spirit, like when or as if praying to God.

The role and function of the Holy Spirit is making things happen and/or possible.
It enables another and/or others, to achieve an end, mission or purpose
It does this by giving power, means, competence or ability to accomplish or excel

The Father is greater than Jesus and Jesus is greater than the Holy Spirit
Where Jesus obeys the Father unquestioningly, the Holy Spirit obeys the Father and Jesus unquestioningly.
Where Jesus does the will of the Father unquestioningly, the Holy Spirit does the will of the Father and Jesus unquestioningly.
In summation Jesus is greater than the Holy Spirit

Verbal somersault everywhere.
"Holy spirit is recognized as coming from God" https://www.merriam-webbster.com/dictionary.
Definition of come from:
"To have a specified source or origin"
Yahweh is the source or originator of the holy spirit. The holy spirit is not God .
Likewise Christ Jesus.
"The Word became flesh.... who came from the Father" John 1:14

In plain language, each poster on this thread came from his father & mother.
What does that statement of fact teach U guys about Jesus coming from the Father ? How did God become Father to Jesus? Trinity peddlers, Pls Explain.
That U are your father & your father is U. Just one. Co-equal. Shey?

"..And you will know that I am in my father, and you in me, and I in you " John 20:11.
vs 11 says that the Father, Jesus & his apostles form the Trinity. (Are U guys gonna twist what Christ said?)

"OP, ask them Trinity peddlers, why is it that neither Christ nor the holy spirit never gave any command to God ?
Ask them to show U in the Bible where God obeyed the holy spirit ?

Whereas in the holy scriptures Christ Jesus said he is speaking & teaching what his Father
Yahweh taught him. John 7:16.

OP,"Iamwhat",pls keep asking them questions. Don't let them confuse U ,as U can see, they are confused, themselves.
U will soon see that the Trinity is a well packaged falsehood.

""I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;"
- John 14:16

"Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you.
If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father:
for my Father is greater than I
"
- John 14:28

"“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father,
he will bear witness about me.
"
- John 15:26

The sum and substance of the Godhead (i.e. the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit) is that they're co-equal
yet it doesnt stop the Holy Spirit being submissive to the Jesus, just as Jesus is submissive to the Father

So parroting Jesus, the Father is greater than Jesus
and hitting off from the above submissive context, Jesus is greater than the Holy Spirit

Prove it with the holy scripture that God obeyed any command given by Jesus or by the holy spirit.

What does the word "Father" actually mean to U?
What did Jesus mean by calling God "the Father" & himself, "the son of God"?

The Father is greater than all , but yet He seeks the consent of lesser Beings (Jesus and the Holy Spirit ) to make decisions (Genesis1:26 and Genesis11:7), right ? Is that showing you He is greater than all ? If I say I am greater than my Father, but yet my Father still seeks my opinion for decision making it does not make him greater than me in anyway. Please get the understanding of the scriptures through the Holy Spirit; for it is impossible to read and understand the Bible without the wisdom of God through the Holy Spirit.

U wanna twist Christ's word or U lack the sense to understand it ?

Besides, U are getting it wrong.
In Gen 11:7,& 1:26, God did not seek the consent or opinions of anyone.
Rather, HE led Jesus& the angels to carry out the idea that HE (Yahweh) originated..
Yahweh ALWAYS SAID " Let us make make man...."
"Let us go & confuse their language" (at Nimrod's tower of Babel)
U can see that it was Yahweh's idea , thought & desire that everyone else obeyed & key into....

Right there in heaven Christ & the angels were receptive/submissive to Yahweh's Supreme authority & direction.
Imagine a Father telling his children:" We are going to the farm ..."

Should we now conclude that each person present there, is coequal with him who made that statement," We are going to the farm...." ?

Who sent the holy spirit and the son?

Can the begeted be greater than the begeter?...the father is no subject to any one but the son is subject to the father 1 Cor 15:28

As for body spirit and soul. The spirit is greater and controls the physical. The soul is not a separate part but the entire package that is ( spirit+body=living soul)

How are those verses seeking consent for crying out loud?

What is the difference between

"Let us go down" and "should we go down?"
