Okay so If i want to buy a corolla say 05-07 the car should actually be called the new pure water as e full everywhere with like 90% usage here what should I basically look out for beyond accidented that has affected chassis.before now i.e cotonu fayawo days buying a toyota with check light on was assumed to be a no issue but now that check light could mean a lot but I would just like to hear something new to be careful of before buying a corolla.thanks peeps.

Dont be swayed by some contributors who says this and do another. I remember Ogunvic time, many joined the bandwagon to praise Peugeot ,next they flipped over and said ,the best new thing that has happened to them is Kia product, next is i saw all the naija used Kia ,up for sale . Few month down the lane , praises was up for Elantra, Now is if u know u know ,its Matrix over corrolla . My bros,Dont be deceived ,if u keep reading advises from this forum upandan ,confusion go be ur name, some advise is sentimental and some genuine. Without being told u should hv deduced with common sense that sedan is most preferred than hatchback hence the price difference and high resell value for corrolla. My 2cent

I don't quite agree with you fully.Yes during the peugeot days of Ogunvic people got swayed but later realised they are too sensitive especially the 407 but I don't think I recall any extra canvassing for Kia/Elantra if at all the talk was that while they also have fair fuel usage their weakness has always been high engine cost especially for the Korean models it seems American specs are cheaper engine wise.

True talk will not even tell us how much fuel they consume and other misseccleouns
whether he does the 30k in one day or 2 days he would still use about same amount of fuel. Approx 6k for corollas. peg miscellaneous at any amount u feel comfortable with.

Driver had a busy weekend, which is the strategy some drivers use. Take week days softly, and weekend work na till target is met.

something about corolla made it high on-demand despite matrix' existence.
Ppl won't demand to buy something more expensive that is purely similar to another commodity in d market for no reason.
*Ignorance, that they are buying exact same machine except for the box it comes in.

*Hatred for hatchback vis-a-vis love for salon cars

Seriously matrix has a better interior IMO

It's that reason you are looking for that will make you follow the crowd & buy the more expensive corolla grin... Follow follow Nigerians.

I will tell you the that reason if you can explain to me why in Nigeria a toks 2005 corolla LE is more expensive than a 2005 camry XLE(full option)

Abroad a full option Camry should be more expensive than a basic corolla LE either in brandnew and used
I follow like this your kweshion. The camry is a more luxurious car and should be more expensive than a corolla of the same year not minding the class.

Naija na different market dynamics deh move us

Professional advice needed.
If I have 6-700k, which option would be best for me?
1. Buy a neat Nigerian used car, manage for 3-4 months, change engine & maybe transmission
2. Go for direct toks with HP agreement

If I'm going with option 2, how much would be a good deal for HP if I'm depositing 600k on 1.7m car? HP with comprehensive insurance óò. I won't be paying more than 120k/month on the HP (for proper vehicle care & avoid unnecessary pressure)
Thanks.

Nigerian used cars require a lot of attention, you should budget 1-1.2m for purchase and repairs to avoid frustration.

For HP you are good to go. If interested contact me grin

If you're my blood brother, this is the advice I would give you since I want you to succeed.

Don't rush, be patient.

Save a bit more to get your own direct toks.

Use your current savings for treasury bills to get interest that would reduce the amount of cash required to buy a direct toks.

1.4m - 1.7m would get you a prestine toks.

Doing HP is good but anything can happen during your HP period. You would be putting yourself under unnecessary and avoidable stress doing HP. You're almost there with your savings, don't quit now.

*********************

As a car owner not your brother now.

I would advise you do HP, if you get a good car with sound engine.

Ensure the car owner insured the car comprehensively. The name on the insurance policy should include your name. E.g Car Owner Name/Your Name. Incase anything happen, you also get part of the insured amount for the car.

Look at the agreement you signed before collecting any car on HP. If possible, get a shared 50/50 repairs and maintenance plan.

Use the right engine oil, fluids and other OEM part for repairs.

Collect only direct toks for HP to minimize your risk and expenses.

If you want to go into this full time, then go for a toks. With 700k u are half way to getting a toks. Success will never ever come cheap, deprive yourself of some things and keep saving till u get a substantial amount to buy a toks.
The car gave a very good advice, keep your 700k and look for a toks ride on rental and pick it up, with that u have your capital intact while u keep saving.
Personally, I am not a guy who loves bin in debt hence the reason I do not support a HP deal, anything can freaking go wrong and the end result will be : u lose your deposit and still won't get the car except if the Owner gat a heart of gold which in this case is rare.

Another reason why I do not support HP is as thus :
By the time u finish making payment, your car would have gone through a whole lot of wear and tear and thereby making you work extra months to be able to raise cash to fix it up. A Car of 1.7m would be given out for roughly 3.4 to 3.7m and a duration of about 2years, to me that's slavery. Yes a lot of people have actually benefited from HP deals but my person opinion towards it is a no no. I would rather advice anyone in this position to go for rental, save up and buy your car.

Lastly, Always ask God for guidance, you can never go wrong with Him.

Thanks for the advice.
I don't really like HP cos of its excessive interest. Would have preferred to borrow the 1m directly & pay 20% interest within a year.
On saving more, that seems unachievable right now (unless I carry money go play Nairabet)

With good negotiation, you should get a toks car between 2003 - 2006 depending on brand.

Chillex.8 would say don't buy a Naija used car but if you get a good deal and it's naija used please buy.

My car is Nigeria used when I bought it. The seller (First Owner) bought it new in 2013 used it for 4plus years before I bought it from him.

As at the time of purchase, A car dealer was calling 3.5m last price for an accidented toks with 175k miles when my Nigeria used non-accidented car is just 65k miles at 2.3m.

So when making your choice, don't be in a hurry. Take your time because car purchase is a long term investment which is gonna have significant impact on your finance and pocket.

Don't rush it.

Get a good mechanic and also be care of the mechanic you used during car inspection. Your mechanic can help make good choice or reck you.

If you're buying a toks, Vehicle History check is a must. Collect VIN and do your history check before negotiating price or doing vehicle inspection with a mechanic.

WHY DOES YOUR CAR NEED MYMOTO TRACKER

Whenever you need to start the car, you enable it also.

(2) Remote Monitoring: GPS Security trackers allows you to monitor your vehicle location remotely from your phone. You are able to view your car’s location in real time (from our IOS/ANDROID APPS).

(3) Vehicle History: Through our online platform (IOS/ANDROID APPS) , you can view where your car had been between DAY X and DAY Y. A plot is shown on a map showing your car’s movement over this period of time.

(4) Remotely Stop Your Car: With our security GPS tracker, you are able to stop your car from ANY PHONE with an sms command. This function can also be carried out through our online platforms.

(5) Geo-Fencing Alarm:If your car goes beyond set a radius (or multi-point), say Lagos, you will be notified by sms.

(6) Other alarms (Over-speed Alarm, Ignition On Alarm, Low Battery Alarm ): Over-speed alarms notifies you via sms when your car goes beyond a particular speed. Ignition on notifies you WHENEVER your car is started. Low Battery Alarm lets you know when your car battery is low.

(7) Daily Mileage report (online platform): Daily mileage report shows you a daily chart (in KM) of your car.

We have heard of one or two expereience of how clients were able to recover their vehicles BECAUSE THEY HAD A TRACKER INSTALLED IN IT. We will be sharing some of them with you based on TRUE LIFE EXPERIENCES.

YOU'VE SPENT QUITE MUCH TO ACQUIRE YOUR CAR, SECURE IT WITH A TRACKER. BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY

Story 1
During one of our installs, the client shared with us how Mr Ayo (not his real name) borrowed his brothers car, and waylaid in the night somewhere in Lagos. Unknown to the thieves, the car had a tracker in it. That same night they tracked the vehicle to a military baracks (apparenntly the thieves had accomplices with military connections). They went with the police and they were able to recover the car (THE DEMOBILIZE FUNCTION OF THE TRACKER WAS USED TO ENSURE THE CAR DID NOT MOVE UNTIL THEY GOT TO THAT LOCATION)...

Story 2
Mr Bayo was bout entering his car in the night somewhere in Lagos when he was attacked. He immediately used his phone to demobilize the car some minutes after they had zoomed away with the car. The thieves ran away when they discovered the car wasn't strating again. The car was tracked to Ajah. Apparently the thieves ran away in fear with the keys of the car grin
