Okwyla:
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Wednesday, cautioned private cyber cafe operators against extortion of prospective candidates who want to upload their results on the board’s website.

The Head of Media of the board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, gave the caution in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

Benjamin said that the caution became necessary following several complaints made to the board by the victims, on fraudulent activities by some private café operators.

He said the candidates complained of high amount of money they were being charged by such operators to upload their WAEC results on JAMB website.

“Not only do they charge them high, they also convince candidates who had already uploaded their results on the site to do same again.

“Candidates who have had their results uploaded at the point of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration need not do that again, except for those who registered with awaiting results.

“Those are the ones allowed to upload now on our website.

“This upload should not cost more than N100.

“No cyber café should charge more than this amount, however, if candidates can locate any of our Computer Based Test (CBT) Centres, it is free to make the upload there,” Benjamin said.

NAN correspondent who visited some of the cyber cafés in Bwari reports that while some charge a negotiable N500, few charge up to N1, 000 for the result upload.

The exercise follows the recent release of 2018 WAEC results and the announcement by JAMB that“leaders of institutions agreed that the First Choice Admission would be conducted from July 2 to Oct. 16’’.

According to the board, the Second Choice Admission is to commence from Oct.17 to Dec.17.

A nation without direction,

Here The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) cautioning cafes operators of extorting people.

What stop and average Nigeria from knowing how to operate computer? In your mind you believed that anyone has something doing in computer is doing fraud with it. You as a Nigerian help government to blind yourself more from having access to what happens in the world through internet.

A lot of business has collapse because the operators don’t have anywhere to get information to upgrade their business while the information is online freely.

Am laughing cause a time is coming when some will cry if they had know they should have learn how to operate computer at their youths age.

Ghana banking industries advise public to have one lap top per house as to do most of their transaction and other business online in other to reduce traffic in offices.

And in Nigeria when laptop or computer is found in your hand you label a fraudster or anything they wish and public will be crapping.

And today what you need to do with computer or laptop have come and you’re going to someone café and your worried for the how much he charge you, is your fault cause even when you don’t have private computer all you need is to buy time and upload your items and go your way.

If have your own pc too, 100 or 150 naira bundle is enough for you to do your thing.

What if these café operators close their shops with excuse they don’t have fuel or bundle, is government going to force them? Did government know what he spend for power the café both diesel and bundle. You can’t seat in your office and command someone that assisting you to do your job how to seat on his own office, if you don’t like go buy your own laptop or desktop.

Is time we blame our self for our fault and accept our mistake, any youth in Nigerian should accept that is his/her fault for not knows how to operate or browse at this century.

Know it to today that another fast way these governments use to blind the youth is by blocking you access to laptop or desktop. Cause whatever your doing today need information and motivating, be it a farmer, engineer, doctor, football betting, traders, importer, e.t.c.

So when one seize your laptop this day and give you allegation of being a fraudster have it in mind that he intention don’t want you to have access to the world of information.

Today common to upload at Matriculation Board is something the department issuing warning to public, to me is shame and sign of fail government that don’t have any future for their youth. In other to help yourself let there be one laptop or desktop for 1 family.

Cautioning them is not enough, they need to make examples of one or two of them (by arresting them and slapping them with fines) to pass the message across
For what? so I should buy fuel, then subscribe, then burn my fuel due to poor Nigeria network and still collect N100 right?

Abegy

Most of those cafe operators are charging candidates more than what they charge for regular browsing. I went to do some printing at a cafe a while back and I saw price list of their services. I observed that Jamb registration/NYSC mobilization was priced higher than buying time to browse. Does jamb registration consume more power, fuel or data than regular browsing? Why charge them more?

You don't know the frustration trying to access jamb/NYSC website due to the heavy traffics... there's no way the charges can be the same with a singular site with less traffics, cuz what you can in 5 minutes on a regular site can take you up to 30mins on those two site due to their traffics.
