This question is very technical but I'm sure many students will get carried away with the "jokes". What they will miss is that "Silver Jubilee" birthday. What's silver Jubilee? It's actually 25 years. Many will miss that. That means 25 - 18 (chioma present age) = 7. Simply the question is... In 7 years time, will 32 million naira outworth 45 million naira @the rate of 7.5%pa using Compound interest (uno = unless noted otherwise).

Let me solve the question sef

If interest is constant

18 years = 42 million

Assuming she refuses and spend 5 more years with Davido = 18 X 45 / 5 = 162m

Plus the number of times Davido slept with Chioma

If K is constant and interest is constant

K = Number of times Davido mekwe Chioma

K = value reduction and bride price deflation

K = damages

So 162m + 32m (settlement for damages)
= 194million

At silver jubilee celebration,Chioma would be having
32000000+16800000=48800000.
My advice. She should collect the best 32m now because she would be 3.8m richer in seven years time when she would be celebrating the silver jubilee.

you got the calculation wrong however you got the final recommendation right. The Prof set the interest rate too high and that's why you got the final answer right.(he should have set it low enough for people who calculate it the way you did to also come to a wrong conclusion)

correct calculation is (32,000,000*0.075)^7. Think compound interest.

apart from the stereotype this is a very good business 101 question for testing future and present value of money

This clearly shows that the lecturer who set that question paper is one of the people who are not happy about the lovebirds relationship,.
