The C230K is a 1.8L supercharged four cylinder engine. Same with the C180K, though it makes 40 HP less than the C230K.

same as a C200 kompressor with same 1.8L turbo charged engine with different hp

The truth of the matter is eventually both are different on the long run. it's better to just put them seperately and go with the flow. Thats the complicated issue benz has, they make one mark and give it like 15 engines

such maginal picture can't tell if its the v6 or kompressor. If you're buying it, ensure the issues were corrected prior to its importation to Nigeria. Its got 7gears auto

I just confirmed its a v6 m272 engine.
I am yet to embark on a long journey to inspect the car to verify all these issues u indicated.
But how bad are those common faults they have, referring to the balance shaft issues VGS etc?


Is there anyway one can find out if these issues have been corrected prior to its importation as u mentioned, online?

this is un-true. The guys abroad used it for years no issue it came to Nigeria and starts losing power why? maintenance wrong oil spec, leaks from intake or supercharger hose or a limp mode from transmission or engine or abs issue.

I haven't seen all the supercharged 203s, true. But from what I know superchargers suck power to give power. Which is why supercharged RRSs lose power and cost an arm and leg to fix.
What do I know?

i'd always advice who want to purchase a car to send someone HIGHLY COMPETENT to go do all the stresses of inspection and check and ensure its a good buy to avoid paying for a car that'll cause heart aches.

He said its a 4plug engine.

That is a V6. The owner is chatting absolute shite. The only four cylinder W203s have a Kompressor badge. That is a V6 facelift model.

Short version, generally the smaller the engine the less the fuel consumption. With Mercedes you are always going to get power for the engine size. I've owned many Mercedes in my lifetime and when you are in the same class, it's not a huge difference in power unless it's an AMG.

As far as 4matic vs kompressor, you are comparing apples to oranges. 4matic is Mercedes 4 wheel drive system whereas kompressor means it's a turbo charged engine. Turbo=more fuel consumption which IMHO is not worth the power boost in this class. Also, harder to maintain should something go wrong.


Get the c230 and be done with it. If you think you need 4wd because of where you live, get the 4matic. Ignore the kompressor as it's the opposite of your stated concern.

You are wrong in 2 places
1)kompressor=supercharger and not turbocharger
2)turbo charger does not increase consumption since as it only collects exhaust fumes,cools it and resend it(air) to the engine while supercharger sucks power directly from the engine by the serpentine belt driving it.

1. Kompressor means supercharger, not turbocharger.
2. Saying that a car with a turbo is less gas efficient than a NA one fails to take into consideration the fact that turbos are used as walk-arounds over bigger NA engines. A 3.0L V6 will guzzle more gas than a turbocharged 2.3L i4, all things being equal, and both with have similar power outputs. There's a reason why manufacturers like Honda are starting to phase out NA V6's in favour of charged i4's.
