Allow the dead rest

No amount of analysis about him will bring him back to life!
stop making a fool of yourself.

abiola is a vital part of Nigerian history so his life and exploits need to be documented. no one is trying to bring him back to life.

if this write up didn't inspire you in any way then you need deliverance

MuttleyLaff:
The origin of the dispute between Fela and Abiola, was as a culmination of two joint cases from:
"He who pays the piper/drummer calls the tune"
and
"dancing to the tune of a different drummer"

Fela with his protest songs was anti-establishment, the military took exception to this and wish have him muzzled.
The military pays the piper, and so Abiola had to dance to the Obasanjo tune drummed by drummer asking to check Fela excesses.

Similar to what Abiola did in going behind the back of the editor and ensuring that his paper National Concord published the apology President Babangida requested for publishing the article that was critical of the Babangida Government and sending heavily armed soldiers, SSS operatives and policemen to Concord Newspapers headquarters and Concord Press to arrest people and chase others away and seal off the premises,
Abiola as the major shareholder of Decca informed Fela he cant be going around making politically charged lyrics touchng on the government.
Fela wont have any of that, and similarly and just like those editors that resigned from Abiola's newspaper, he immediately told Abiola to go to hell
.

MKO Abiola had acquired Decca West Africa Limited, and so used it to settle personal score and conflict of interest with Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and gave threats to Fela, to the effect that, he, MKO Abiola will finish Fela musically etcetera.

The battle lines between them, were drawn, from then on, so the origin of the dispute between Fela and Abiola and the rest is history

To be honest, MKO Abiola's story would not be complete without any mention of MKO Abiola's treachery to Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the president Nigeria deserved but never got

MKO Abiola used, Concord Press, to fight everything Chief Obafemi Awolowo stood for (e.g. publishing stories about Maroko land grab etcetera), similar way, MKO Abiola acquired Decca West Africa Limited, to settle personal score and conflict of interest with Fela Anikulapo Kuti, threatening Fela that he, MKO Abiola will finish Fela musically etc.

Not many know that, MKO Abiola and the military junta "paddy paddy" goes way back before the military and ITT days.
Take for instance this, whilst at secondary school, MKO Abiola was the editor of "The Trumpeter" their school magazine and Obasanjo was the deputy editor.
Fela's "Like Obasanjo and Abiola, International Thief Thief" masterpiece is an act of genius

Using Concord Press and his wealth, MKO Abiola did everything within his power to scupper Chief Obafemi Awolowo's chance of becoming the President Nigeria needed and deserved.

Karma has no menu.
What goes around, comes around
It's no surprise, MKO Abiola got served what he deserved

I read everything patiently and am so glad I did.

It's kind of piecing together some of the events and actors behind the story of Nigeria especially during Military reign. You can see some of these actors are still recycling themselves today without grooming replacements. Anyway you cannot give what you don't have.

Like Rotimi Amechi (Transport Minister) recently said, greater percentage of wealthy Nigerians made money through government. I am not sure who he is referring to but this Abiola article kind of justifies it. Of course the Dangotes, Otedolas, Rabius, Folawiyos, etc all hit their fortune via government support in one way or the other.

Abiola is so wealthy, intelligent and popular, but I could see imprints of government hand also.

What a powerful narrative. Well done ops. You refreshed my memory and I learnt a lot on Abiola Story. How I wish he became Nigeria president, his life would have been a book to study in school.
Even throughout the world, that's the norm.

So far they don't embezzle from public office.

One of the best pieces I have read on nairaland.
Even though both Abami Eda and Abiola found
themselves on opposite sides of the divide.. they
remain 2 of the greatest Omoluabi to have ever existed.
@op...God bless you Sir for this lovely series.

@our youths..you need to know the past so as to
know how to tread the present and picture the future.

Even Dangote with his all his billions and richest black man title can never measure up to MOM Abiola. There is a story that he visited University of Ibadan and during that period came across an handicap student among the crowd of students. He called him and instructed him to meet one Professor Soleye. That's how the poor fellow "hammer"am. I don't know there will.ever be another Nigerian like MKO. Many people he did not personally know, he was funding their education. No matter his many sins, I know God in his mercy would be quick to forgive him because many Nigerians have positive thoughts of him, and am sure most of his children and grandchildren would be doing well too.its good to be good. It took Bill Gate to convince Dangote to go into philanthropy. Nothing against him, it's his money.

Senator Rowland Stephen Owie

"When people talk about June 12,
June 12; June 12 has no meaning.
June 12, is the repayment of evil for MKO Abiola
Whatever you sow, you reap

Yes, let me tell you.
Before anyone can say that the annulment was evil they should answer four questions.
Number one, who was that politician that brought what was called the Maroko land deal to limelight?
Who was that politician who used the Maroko land deal as an albatross on the neck of Chief Obafemi Awolowo?
Who is that Nigerian or group of Nigerians who went to Obasanjo
and connived with him and removed the Electoral College act from the decree of 1978?
Who is that politician or group of politicians that aided the military
to take over the government of President Shehu Shagari in 1983 after the NPN convention?

Who is that politician?
Who is that politician that aided the military in disqualifying all the major candidates of SDP and NRC?
I say if they can answer it and the answer is negative for MKO Abiola, then the annulment of June 12 is evil.

But if the answer is yes and it’s MKO Abiola, the annulment of June 12 was the best thing that happened
because you can’t plant mango and reap yam

"...Then NPN was in government
and he wanted a newspaper that will oppose the Tribune.
One of the major plans of Abiola was to be in opposition to whatever Awolowo stood for...

I told you that Abiola used it to fight Awolowo and all he stood for.
He also used it as the mouthpiece of the NPN whenever it was convenient for him

Late The Ooni of Ife:
Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II

"Abiola was one of those who did not allow Awolowo to reach his goal
and that is partly why we are suffering today.
That is why Yorubas are suffering today.
If Awolowo had made it to being the president of this country, this country would have been great.
Abiola had been planning to be president for 20 years

That is me, using an imaginative or sensitively emotional style of expression,
so in a more poetic manner, I chose to use the word treachery
Abiola was treacherous because of the presidential ambition he nursed, his conduct, towards Awolowo was deliberate and calculated

PS: naptu2 I couldnt post due to "Insufficient Permissions" flag message on the "It Begins With Me" thread
You posted:
"Man! I just suddenly became very hungry in less than a minute. Body shaking.
Everything that I can eat at this moment in time is illegal, except bananas and that won't take me anywhere.

I'll have to send someone to get cookies.
Can I make two threads in one day? It seems I need to.

I was going to make a post before my body started shaking, but now I need to change it into a thread.

By the way, I think I know why my body was shaking.

I ate around 6:30 when I came back from the bridge, then I took my drugs around 10 o'clock without eating again
"

Naptu2, do you know that banana is one of the fruits we are advised not to eat on a completely empty stomach?
I until a few weeks ago, wasnt aware too,
as I lused to love having bananas with pitted green and black olives in spicy marinaded oil, first in the morning.

Apparently, the high amount of natural sugars present in bananas that boost energy could also make you feel drained after a few hours
I guess the sugar nose diving triggerred your body shake

You are right. My Pastor's wife (an Igbo woman) on her 40th birthday shared a testimony of how MKO sponsored her University education for 4yrs in Unimaid, with flight tickets (Lagos-Maiduguri) throughout the programme. Funny enough she said she never met him for once. He was indeed a phenomenon
