you are saying almost same thing, but the car in question ain't turbocharged... the 2005 c230k is supercharged hence more fuel consumption....turbocharged engines consume less fuel nwanneni: |

HeavenlyBang:1. Seriously, your beef is that I didn't say super instead of turbo? Do you really think that distinction was necessary for a lay person? Semantics over whether it's external air versus the exhaust providing the extra power? Does that negate the point I was making that it has nothing to do with comparison to the 4matic as they are two completely different systems in a car? Interesting how the use of turbo didn't get your panties in a bunch earlier when a guy said it ![]() 2. Again, your argument has nothing to do with the comparison I was making. A turbo charged 4cyl is less fuel efficient than a regular 4 cyl. What in my statement made you think I was comparing 4s to 6s? I clearly said compared to the boost you get from the turbo charger, the additional consumption is not worth it. Does a turbo charged 4 give you more power than a 6? No. It gives you more power than a regular four. Thanks for the mansplain but next time, make sure your assumption is what was being talked about first. *Oh, and since we are nitpicking, work-arounds |
| Re: Mercedes Benz by radautoworks: 1:46am On Aug 02, 2018*. Modified: 2:05am On Aug 02, 2018 |
nwanneni:Turbo chargers do increase fuel consumption. Again, to get better fuel consumption with a turbo charger, you'd have to reduce engine size. That's why instead of v6, manufacturers will put a turbo 4 which brings us back to smaller engine=smaller fuel consumption. Just like the mistake your buddy made in willful misinterpretation of my previous answer, a turbo charged 4 is not going to be more fuel efficient than a regular 4. I'll make it easy for you. Go look up two versions of the same car and look at the manufacturer mpgs then come back and apologize. If you're more cerebral, then read https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theglobeandmail.com/amp/globe-drive/adventure/red-line/the-trouble-with-turbos-why-fuel-economy-can-be-worse-not-better/article29705614/ I've attached one to help you get started. Modified The only latest model with a supercharger is the new CLS and they're giving it another fancy name cos it works differently unlike the regular supercharger Turbo charger has an edge over super charger not because it's more fuel efficient but because it doesn't suck up engine power to give that boost Turbochargers also fail on the long run and cost an arm and leg to fix cos it badly affects the engine Which is why I'm a fan of NA engines no matter how big they are Who gets a v6 or v8 and still worry about fuel consumption anyway? |

| Re: Mercedes Benz by Nobody: 8:24am On Aug 02, 2018 |
radautoworks:worthless argument!just posting factless random materials. I am talking from a very solid engineering background. If you say turbos increase fuel consumption, then i have to stop exchanging words with you girl cos indeed you dont know anything about physics let alone engineering. Have a nice day |
| Re: Mercedes Benz by HeavenlyBang(m): 8:27am On Aug 02, 2018 |
mammanbawa:The W204 C180K and C200K are supercharged, not turbocharged. Turbocharged Mercs don't carry the Kompressor badge AFAIK. Also, I know the differences between a turbocharger and a supercharger, no need to educate me, thank you very much. I'm also a fan of NA engines, so we can agree on that. radautoworks:This comment implies that any car with a charger should be ignored if the prospective buyer is in the market for a vehicle with good gas mileage. No shite, if two cars have the same engine displacement and one of them is charged on top of that, the charged one will guzzle more gas. Isn't that common sense? My entire comment was pointing out the fact that a car having a charger usually means the manufacturer has opted for a smaller engine, which is helpful for gas mileage, not otherwise as your statement implied. Case in point, W203 C230K vs C240. Supercharged 1.8L i4 vs NA 2.6L V6. The C230K has more power, more torque, and is also more fuel efficient. What's not to love? |

nwanneni:Poor baby. Which facts upset you? The lengthy article from people who study cars for a living or the pictures from the people who actually make the cars? Oya Pele ![]() I should have known you were fragile from the other thread. Having pictures of cars on your wall does not constitute a solid engineering background It's not fair for someone with five degrees (four in science and three advanced I might add) to argue with someone who seems to have barely managed one. Oya, I won't shame you again. Don't cry o! Sorry! |
| Re: Mercedes Benz by radautoworks: 11:32am On Aug 02, 2018*. Modified: 12:19pm On Aug 02, 2018 |
HeavenlyBang:My comment doesn't imply anything. It clearly states what I mean. The OP asked Please which c class is fuel economical, is it the c230, c320, c240. My response deals with the OP's needs and not yours. This buyer should ignore this vehicle because of his situation. I would have thought so which is why your response to me was useless. Again, no implication here. Pretty sure that's exactly what MY comments said. I know it can be hard but pay attention. Again, my comparison was c230 vs c230k and came with pictures for you ![]() Argue based on what the other party said, not what you think they said. I know it's hard to admit you've been owned so I'll just forgive you ![]() |

Please House a lot has been said about c class that i am getting confused, can someone summarize this in the other of their 1) Maintenance cost 2)Fuel economy and 3) Reliability. My spacial Thanks goes to HeavenlyBang and others you guys knows what time is it my brothers. I will also like to know about E class. Thanks everyone. |

jaypee2020:Both good vehicles in both respects. Think of c class as the Corolla of Mercedes and E as Camry. |
| Re: Mercedes Benz by mammanbawa: 8:03pm On Oct 09, 2018 |
jaypee2020:The w203 was produced from 01-07 It was facelifted in 06 I think That was when the c240 and 320 were dropped for the c280 and c350 with the introduction of the m272 engines into the line up Definitely the 4 cylinder versions are more fuel economical which is why I'll advise you to go for the c230 kompressor It's got sporty looks, a fuel economical 189hp 1.8l supercharged i4 engine It's quite fast for a car of its kind The 2006/7 c230 with the 2.5l 209hp v6 engine has balance shaft issues on the long run but you're good to go if it's fixed well. It looks better, faster and it's more fuel consuming though the difference is not much. I'll go for the c230 v6 if I were you The c280 balances between the w203 models when it comes to speed with 228hp. It is the fastest after the c350 with 3.5l 268hp same with that of the w204 c350 |
| Re: Mercedes Benz by jaypee2020: 1:29pm On Oct 11, 2018 |
mammanbawa:Thanks for the details please the 230 kompresor which model, and do you have an idea about E class and GLK 350 I am not cocerned about speed rather reliability, parts availability and maintenance cost. |
| Re: Mercedes Benz by HeavenlyBang(m): 1:34pm On Oct 11, 2018 |
jaypee2020:Reliability, parts availability and maintenance costs...hmmm. Just buy the 2005 C230 Kompressor and rest, sir. It's not the most reliable car out there but it's probably one of the most reliable Mercs of that cursed generation. Or a 2005 C320. That powertrain was bullet proof. |
| Re: Mercedes Benz by mammanbawa: 1:41pm On Oct 11, 2018 |
jaypee2020:The GlK is just like the C class SUV Same engine so definitely same parts Suspension parts will be different sha The C230 kompressor is a very nice car Sporty Fast Economical Get the 2005 version E class is a larger sedan I'll advise you not to go for the versions with the Airmatic suspension Anything else is a good buy Just make sure you do a background check before buying any vehicle Cc: computerglobal |
