Stupid BMC zombie, you just made your self look stupid ..imagine the so called leaders of tomorrow still in grid between there brain and emotion..the country you called up there are developed countries that doesn't depend solely on crude oil..tell me where all the so called countries there are still planning on building another refinery...we should be looking at how to diversify the economy and not been stagnant.

Am sure you didn't even read what I wrote well before saying I'm hating
I agree you are more intelligent than me. Sir, what is the alternative to comburstive fuel on which we have comparative advantages for now in our economy. Answer me please. Electric or thermal cars right. You are the one who is stupid and whose lineage stupidity has become heredity. Dangote is building refinary not prospecting crude oil idiot. We need local refineries to save our ourselves the burden of fx required for fuel importation in the country. Last time I checked, other bigger economies have not short down their refineries in the name of your worthless diversification. Go and learn oga. Stop embarrassing your alma Mata if you get one.

So because we want to diversify we should continue importing ??
He obviously doesn't know what refinary means. He just jump to comment on the topic.

And you think fuel will stay at N145 per litre when Dangote refinery starts supplying fuel to Nigerians
where have I said it will remain at 145? If anything the price will crash.

I consider it a shame on the government. What a government couldn't achieve with the huge cash flow. An individual is making it happen. The wealth deposited in Nigeria is what should feed the whole Africa continent in the first place. But Nigerians are dying of hunger and starvation.

Kudos to Dan!
Government don't run businesses. Private sector does.

You sound silly and pained..well I never said we shouldn't have a refinery, you surely don't get me and I don't need to abuse you to make you see my point, let me break it down.
It's really so pathetic that our past and recycled politicians and our country just got to this level when other countries have been there like 40years ago...just read my comment and digest

@ topic ...that's a huge loan from ruthless loan sharks like the Word Bank. Heaven knows how much interest and under what conditions. I would've been more comfortable with him setting up a smaller refinery and others later instead of putting all his eggs in one basket. The West on the whole is against Africans period being self sufficient or progressive. I'm almost sure they will find a way to sabotage the refinery.
That the European refineries are jittery.

The EU refines 15million barrels a day

Victim mentality or not, it does no harm to learn from history and take precautions. The extra cost spent in proactive security, will be as nothing compared to the cost after a couple of well placed terrorists acts with Bokoharam already in place as convenient patsy.
Are we taking precautions with China ?

Sensationalised article written to stroke the egos of Nigerians.

How much is 650000 barrels in the grand scheme of thing's?

Just be happy that Nigeria will have a working refinery.
U have no idea.
One barrel of crude oil can produce about 50 liters of petrol. U do the math, how many do u think 650000 barrels will produce a day.

I hope all the wastes from the refinery wont be channelled to ikorodu.....this will surely cause an environmental hazard to Lagosians

I'm not talking about the amount of petrol to be gotten from 1 barrel of crude oil

Nigeria govt should own the refinery...

Although they will mismanage it...

Also, I disapprove it being in lagos..
We will still have challenges... Already I have noticed. Dangote recruitment is centered to lagosians..
Tell me a sane place where the government owns a refinery?

The viability of the refinery business would hopefully force others to build something like this.

That will finally and truly mark the end of fuel subsidy and have a good domino effect on the country.

Small small we will get there. All that remains now is for all corrupt politicians to be killed if they refuse to die on their own.

Threat or no threat, we want the best for our dear country..I really don't know why a country in which its politicians promised to diversify the economy is still building a local refinery at this time and age...the world is moving on from oil and we are laying our foundation on that...

obailala:
Seriously?... Please tell me you're joking?....

Nigeria consumes an average of 40 million litres of petrol daily and about 1.2 billion litres monthly and all of this is IMPORTED. But you think it is a bad idea for Nigeria to refine it's petroleum within its shores because we want to diversify?.....

The most ridiculous thing about this comment is that in few minutes, there are already over 5 'likers' shocked
It is a good development by Mr. Dangote, but i also hope we shall see more effort on renewable energy, that is the future, from an environmental point of view!
Re: Dangote Oil Refinery Poses Threat To European Plants by Bluffly: 12:55pm On Aug 03, 2018
What is all this? Who is shouting threat? Is Nigeria meant to lick their arses? Nigeria is doing its own, let them do theirs. If they feel this will get them out of business, then let them go and start a new business. Must someone be shouting up and down that Dangote refinery is threatening European plants? Nonsense.

[quote author=frugal post=69945378]The development of the country lies in the hands of visionary entrepreneurs. Our politicians have nothing to offer us.
America is what it is today as a result of entrepreneurship. [/quot

The project is quite needed, but i would not consider it as been entrepreneurial at all. Refineries have been in existing for ages, so nothing new.
The kind of entrepreneurship i would love the world to remember dangote for is something like this headline, "the Man who ensured 80% of Nigerian household now has solar panel as alternative source of power supply". Meet Africa's King of Renewable Energy... Dangote should aim for a project that builds a sustainable future. Why is Europe trying their best to move off fossil fuel technology for most of their basic needs. This is a challenge for Mr. Dangote, how do you promote renewable energy while not affecting the financial viability of your refinery in the long run...
I am just appealing that we should envision what we desire Nigeria to be like 20 years ahead, most time we are only satisfied with looking forward like 3 to 5 years ahead.

It is a win for some of the refineries to shut down, no more fighting environmentalist, most of the refineries would be stripped down and shipped as replacement/servicing parts to be used for Dangote Refinery.
I doubt, if any nation in Europe has made building a refinery a top priority, they are embracing a new future of zero or low carbon emission, so the gradual migration away from fossil fuel technology.
