Not just that it is wrong to compare one's application with PhD applicants. It is totally wrong to compare your application with anyone's own whether PhD, Masters or PGD/C. Applications differ in all aspects. Continuous comparison will lead you into HBP and you will not like the outcome.

You smashed it.

Really?... hmm. Puzzled!!!

Getting an admission in Canada for PhD is usually very difficult and the number of spaces available are quite limited and at same time very competitive. An applicant must pass through rigorous processes prior securing an admission for PhD, which at the end of the day comes with full funding from the University. All these processes the visa officers have in mind, so granting them visa doesn't take much time. But, that does not mean they don't undergo due database check. The difference here is the visa officers doesn't scrutinize PhD applications like the way it is done in other applications.

Hi nairalanders...
My first application was on April 17th and was through an agent in Lagos. After my first application, I joined nairaland and discovered the packaging was poor.
Went through some threads and was enlightened on how to tackle common reasons for refusals.
Decided to re- apply by myself.
Reapplied in June at vfs Abuja, I live in Lagos tho.
Program: PGD
Course : RN- critical care nursing , Niagara college
Was skeptical about reapplying because it's a PGD. After I got my refusal, I didn't bother to order for notes cause I felt I couldn't wait for so long before reapplying.

I used the ideas from this thread and previous ones and
The difference in my second from first application were:
A well detailed, real and sincere SOP, made sure I proved I am taking a step of academic progression, made sure I explained why I want the course, how I will survive with funding, my intentions to return to manage my mother's business.
My personal bank statement showing my savings and a deposit of 10k dollars equivalent transferred to my account.
Pay slips - was payed monthly by a relative.
Letter of introduction - I graduated last year and was working voluntarily as a nurse for 6 months.
Sponsorship letter explaining how the funds have been allocated for my education and survival. Also explains how my sponsor will survive while I am away.
Letter or clarification
Reference letter from bank
Sponsor bank statement
Sponsorship letter
Land document or sponsor
Ielts result
Bsc certificate
transcript
Offer letter
Receipt of 1st term fees payment.
Needed to prove I am a real student.

Prayers and total trust in God's timing

I pray for more trv approvals in Jesus name.
Congrats in advance to the trv hopefuls.

Who was sponsor pls?

Dr. Frank, not all PHD comes with full funding. As a matter of fact an equal number do not come with funding and many here end up paying for themselves. Visa officers scrutinize PHDs very well too. Some get denied visas as a matter of fact. But they have a higher approval rate than masters because their purpose of studies is more defined. If you are able to get admission into a PHD program which is quite comepetitive you are right, chances of been a bonafide student is more clearly demonstrated!

Goodmorning House!

This Canada visa process gets tiring by the day. As much as I try not to let it get more than the thought it deserves, I cant help but still worry.
My app has been in process since May. Eligibility review started early June and till now no update. My CSE was replied by the Kenya Visa Office with the usually response that my app is under active review and since then nothing.

My dilemma right now is that I have a Visa interview at the German embassy by month end, and my passport is being held by the canada office. I wouldnt want to withdraw my app, but then, I also wouldnt want to miss the interview at the German embassy if Canada wouldnt grant me a visa. Its a tough call for me at this point but I think I should still give them some time before taking any steps.

So y'all June/July applicants, I think U need to take a chill pill cos May guyz are observing from a corner.

No feedback or update since after biometrics!
2nd application .

I dont wanna believe they have not started attending to June applicants, its possible they have attended to some and maybe unfortunately those that have been attended to were refused and they have not gotten back to this forum cos of their disappointment or heart break. So I wanna believe they have actually attended to some June applicants but we are not getting feedback here as a result of their outcomes cos for God sake, this is August and everybody keeps on saying June applicants have not yet been attended to, I dnt wanna bliv that is true tho.. It shall End in Praise

Approval -1th August

My younger brother application for undergraduate studies was approved. We couldn't believe how fast it was. Did paper application at VFS Abuja and didn't link it online cos we thought it was too early to start tracking. Just to receive the approval mail on Wednesday.

Note: the application letter came from the Lagos embassy which means the application was processed in Lagos

Funny thing is, both paper application and online route for canada study permit in London, you do not submit your passport.

I did paper aplication and I have my passport with me. When approval is given, they will post a letter to my house, i then submit my passport for visa.

The major issue is the fact that there is a profile one can always go check for updates. Even though it is good, it is torture (my opinion).

I think I prefer the way Uk does theirs where you don’t know anything (or see how to monitor progress) till it is approved.

Amen to your prayers bro.

Sorry, how do I access my profile?

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by harde116: 2:53pm On Aug 04, 2018
Oh i see. I think sometimes, it kinda doesn't work that way. My eligibility didn't even start even after i got an approval. I think they don't follow these rules sometimes. If your application stays for weeks, there's a very high chance that your eligibility review already started, even if they don't update it, otherwise, i don't know under what basis they would deny an application if they don't check for eligibility.

jnyuwa02:

Thanks man I appreciate. Eligibility review starts usually before any medical call. And it continues even after medical call. When an individual is called for medical for example, it means that the visa officer has reviewed the file and thinks that person is likely to qualify for the visa sought. Eligibility review is done one more time after the receipt of medical result just to make sure the person continues to qualify as earlier deemed. Sometimes the system forgets to kickstart the eligibility review throttle on the profile until after medical is received. That is why it appears sometimes that some receive medical call before review of eligibility is started. In actuality it is not so. Every person who receives a medical call, review of eligibility was done in one form or the other before the invitation was sent out. It is clearly not a random call.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by harde116: 2:55pm On Aug 04, 2018
Bro, that application was approved in 2weeks!!! This one no be matter of PHD na, i know someone here that got an approval after the 11th week, and it was PHD.
We can't take away the fact that some applicants are blessed and lucky and some have their applications well done. Even masters here got in 3weeks.

I think this is just hope for the ones that may think it's too late. There's still time and i wish everyone the best.

Cheers
