They are jealous of us , they know Nigeria and Nigerians are way better than them . Ungreatful ugly things . Without Nigerians that country would fall apart in two days, all major developments there are done by Nigerians, most of the schools and hospitals are operated by Nigerians. The only thing they know is to drink and jealous us. Stupid illiterates.
Did this one even make it past Grade 3 ?

How is Nigeria South Africa's older brother?

South Africa was developed long before Nigeria even began to develop.

South Africa's oldest universities were built in the nineteenth century. Our oldest uni was built in the 1960s.

They've had good infrastructure for several decades before we started building ours in the 1960s.

The white colonialists actually spent SA's export proceeds from gold etc, in developing the country, unlike in Nigeria where they simply looted our resources to enrich the Queen and her cohorts. By 1960, Nigeria was an underdeveloped backwater with mass illiteracy and near zero infrastructure, while South Africa was already an industrialised nation.

So the truth is that South Africa is our older brother, not the other way round.
Nigerians do not have world veiw, therefore do not understand how they are being perceived by the rest of the world. Decades & decades of tribal, religious and regional politics have consumed all Nigeria energy focusing inward instead of focusing their energy in understanding global socio-economic-political realities that drive the world. Not having world veiw and understanding global politics will have the Country remains as the world capital of extreme poverty, backwardness & underdeveloped. Country of sophisticated morons.

Development in what sense? Is it in terms of infrastructure or economy or what?

The problem the youths today have in Nigeria is that they dont read and do research... they are beclouded by the present problem of the country. They dont even know solutions to them and thus the reason why they dont know much about the country and her greatness.

All that you mentioned to me is subjective. See in terms of economy we are bigger than South Africa. Nigeria currently boss that area in Africa.
In terms of infrastructure they are bigger than us but I tell most are not indigenous. See South Africa infrastructure/environmental development is White inclined. In terms of living standard and technology they are bigger but do you know that everything still bores down to what the white did for them.
You were referring to the past when the Whites were developing the areas where they only occupied and no black dared go there. Soweto which is the seat of apartheid where much of the freedom fight was incubated and executed by the blacks is one of the largest slum in the world today... if not the largest.

South Africa development today is a white man development in a black country. Ours is black man's development in a black country.

Go and check the list of 2018 Billionaires in Africa... Nigeria has 3 billionaires who are blacks on the list whereas South Africa has up to 8 billionaires in which 7 are whites and only one is a black man. What are we saying... Nigeria has more forex than them.
We are more populated than them. We are more influential than them... even globally (entertainment, culture, politics etc)
Most of what we can boast of are indigenous and there are some things we can say we are "the first to do in Africa" in many terms.
They have high unemployment rate in their country.... Nigeria too has it. They are violent too.. Nigeria too same.. though our own might be higher...

See that Nigeria can still survive and still be leading in many things in Africa and even economically with her numerous and complicated problems is enough reason to say Nigeria is great and fit enough to be elder brother to all Africa countries. No country in the World can survive the problems we are currently facing in the country without collapsing.

If Sowore says Nigeria is their older brother... its not an overstatement... though he could have been diplomatic about it... but even the South African itself has issues with us in their country..they dont respect us.... so Sowore giving it to them straight like dat is not bad so that they will know that Nigerians shud be treated with some level of respect.

Finally, the future looks brighter for Nigeria more than any country even in the World... I know God will help Nigeria and give us a good leader who will be selfless and help Nigeria overcome her problems.

Thanks

Is Sowore actually campaigning to be president in 2019? I thought the position is zoned to the north. Or does he just want to make some noise and waste his money?

South Africa beat you both in infrastructure and economy,in fact South Africa beat you in ALL indices.I don't even know why someone would brag about an economy that is controlled by a tiny cabal of looting politicians, but if it floats your boat then....

The irony in the bolded is out of this world, somewhere in the middle of your misinformed comment you referred to Soweto as a slum,The same Soweto that held 2010 FIFA World Cup's final match. So you are guilty of the same crime you accuse others of...INGNORANCE that is.

Like I said,SA economy is bigger than that of Nigeria.Your economy is only big on paper, just look around you and tell me if you can see the benefits of your "big economy", ohh and while you at it,check South Africa's budget and compare it with yours and tell me how exactly your economy rules Africa,I don't think you can even stand toe to toe with Botswana.Whites gave almost all Africa a head start,Nigeria included, but if you still want to use that "whites built this, whites built that for them" excuse that y'all been using for 5 decades then fine let's play it,why is Botswana,Kenya and many other African countries better than you even though they don't have white population building for them? how are you going to spin this one? You really need to visit Soweto because it's clear you know nada about it.

So now we rate how good the economy of a country is based on few billionaires who care nothing about the masses that are drowning in extreme poverty? Africans are truly the architects of their own miseries,I don't even wanna go further here.

Your more populated,we get it,but how is that a good thing? isn't that a burden on an already ailing economy?

Influential than who? really? Go watch that Black Panther (Wakanda) movie and see how South African actors/actresses are all over the movie and SA music could be heard in the background throughout the movie, while at it,check which country has been collecting Gramy awards since the 50's,and check which country, for the first time in the history of the this continent has drawn a all nations of the world to Africa (2010 FIFA World Cup) . I don't think Nigeria will ever produce a man of a stature like Mandela,EVER.A South African comedian is a host of the biggest satirical show in America (Trevor Noah) and he is loved by many...should I go on?

yeah both countries have a problem of unemployment, there we agree, but we all know one is worse than the other and we all know who

Sowore's words mean nothing. We South Africans are not the type to bend over backwards for anyone.Respect is not something you can just demand without earning it,until Nigerians start respecting themselves and the rules of their hosts they will always be looked down upon, the guy can go where his ego will be stroked, not in SA

Our leaders aren't deluded , they know most Nigerians in South Africa are involved in criminal activities , and we also kill each other like flies and the fools back home think it's South Africans when we on the ground know the reality. No sane leader would chase away investors because greedy fools who always mess up every society they enter. We should first look at punishing ourselves before we point at others. No "innocent " Nigerian gets killed in South Africa, they are always involved in dirty deeds with local criminals or fellow Nigerians.

Lol, our economy is only bigger on paper bros. Have you seen our budget $24bn budget for 180m , and them $143bn for 55m people undecided. Lets stop making silly excuses , SA is more developed than Nigeria. Most African countries benefited infrasture from white people including Nigeria, the difference is that we chose to destroy the little they left us when countries like South Africa are bust fixing the underdeveloped places. South Africa has built more infrasture since the mid 90s than the former regime , that's why today about 90% of them enjoy 24hrs of light, almost 90% have access to tap water and sanitation , where are we huh. South Africans are not beating their chests comparing themselves to other nations like we are doing, they are busy making sure all of their neighbourhoods including the poor ones have basic amenities which is what development is about, quality of life and better standards of living for all, can we compare ourselves with them when most of us use generators in this day and age , I have never seen a generator in a South African home . Over 70% of us "big economy" don't have toilets or tap water , no South African unless villagers use borehole. Lol@ we are bosses , bosses who live in abject poverty? . Even our Lebanese and Chinese built infrasture we can't match what is happening on the ground in South Africa, forget it. Soweto a slum ? grin. The same Soweto that hosted the world on two occasions , first the soccer world cup and over 90 world leaders for Mandela memorial service grin. The same Soweto that has one of the biggest malls in Africa. The same Soweto that has world class brt system. The same Soweto that is one of South Africa's biggest tourist destinations? Would Europeans and Asians travel all the way to Africa to visit a dangerous slum ? grin. Winnie Mandela died living in the " slum". The owners of the biggest and best paying soccer clubs in Africa live in Soweto, Kaiser chiefs and Orlando pirates grin. When you want to discredit others atleast know what you are talking about. We have more billionaires who benefited from politithifians not geniuses just like the white billionaires that looted SA during apartheid .but SA has more millionaires than Nigeria and Egypt and most are black, I would rather we have a number of millionaires than have a handful of billionaires and a majority poor people, that should tell you something . More populated, is that one an achievement when majority are dirt poor ? . What influence ,? Last time I checked the culture that is more recognised outside Africa are Zulus, massai and ashantis .music ? SA is the home of grannies in Africa. The first African to commercialise music is Miriam makeba a South African legend . They produced lucky dube , Brenda fassie etc besides fela who can stand those names in naija ? Politics ? South Africa is the king in the SADC region and a player in African union like we are in west Africa and AU, they are also in brics , where are we? . South African indigenes have been making their country proud in and outside the continent for decades even during apartheid, so I don't understand what you are on about .lol, you are deluded , we are enduring self enduced hardship , other nations aren't stupid enough to do that , they find solutions instead of surviving under harsh conditions. Who are we leading in Africa? In what ? . Education , it's SA , egyt , Ghana, Kenya and others . In healthcare samething, electricity samething , number of millionaires SA and Egypt. Access to basic amenities, SA , Botswana, Gabon, Mauritius, we are nowhere. What do we fckn lead in Africa besides poverty , criminal activities, chest beating huh. They don't respect us because we don't respect ourselves in their country , they don't owe us anything. Lmfao , our future looks brighter than others huh grin grin grin wtf ? When we are busy regressing to stone age. Just shut up please.

Rossikki:

This is patently false and very surprising coming from an eminent analyst like you.
Nigeria was already a regional power with great potential in 1960.

We had sent troops to Asia in WWII and later to Congo.
We had great rail infrastructure crossing the nation.
We had the highest number of power engineers per capita in the world.
We had opened the first TV station in Africa.
We were an agricultural Juggernaut.
We had one of the best universities in Africa (UI) with more on the drawing board.
We had a substantial and growing diaspora that comprised mainly of students and intelligentsia.
Our writers, diplomats, professors and artists were preeminent on the continent.
We led huge diplomatic efforts on and off the continent. We were at the frontline of UN, OAU and the non-aligned movement.
We had vibrant industry of every kind. - UAC was the largest conglomerate in West Africa and soon would be the largest in Africa. There was also Leventis and John Holt.
We had a large and growing expatriate population.
Our own population was the largest in Africa at 55+ million.

(South Africa was a military power true, but with serious internal issues and an economy built on expropriation that had to be propped up by the British. It's GDP measured white wealth and did not account for the millions of blacks living in townships)

How does that translate to being a 'backwater' ?

Coupled with the fact that Nigeria was a "Big Brother" in the fight to liberat South Afica from White Aparthied (same thing all the Arab/Islamic countries could not do to palestine today!), we bankrolled the ruling ANC PARTY, virtually all SA leaders of today, were at one time or the other, FULL SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS in a Nigerian University, at Nigeria's expense.

If the phrase INGRATES, describes anyone best, it is the 'Black South African'.

You're right. Did you know that Mandela's final arrest and trial occurred when he returned from visiting Nigeria for help ?
If not for useless politicians this country was destined for greatness.
