Why should a Christian not drink alcohol? It is good for the body, even many foods we eat are converted to alcohol in the body.
The major issue is use and abuse, just like every other thing.
And another point to note is that the fact that something is bad does not make it a sin.

Today we take the new testament as it is because Jesus have done all the amendment the old testament deserve. All the support given to alchogolic were almost done by the new testament written by people who knows the old law.
