Minimum wage was N800 when Abacha died in 1998.

N5,000 per month in 1994 was a lot, this was a time you can buy good "Belgium" Peugeot 505 for about N50,000. As a newly qualified Chartered Accountant in 1987, my monthly salary was N1,000 per month and was very good then.

Just because of a choice he made in 1994, he made a history in LASU. Sometimes, it's not all about the money, it's all about the future. Although I don't really like him too much in Youruba films, but I just liked him for the choice he made in 1994.

You must definately be a kid or part of these indomie generation. Those days,lecturing/teaching jobs were nothing to write home about as most of them lived from hands to mouth.I could remember some lecturers riding bicycle to campus in UI.Its was OBJ that revived lecturing jobs and made it rewarding in 1999.Thats one of achievement of OBJ till date. Those days hardly you see someone that wants to become a lecturer/teacher because their salary was very little. You must have heard the slogan"teachers/lecturer"s reward is in heaven"?

Some people will just talk nonsense and will expect their audience to believe them. As if the audience don't have cognition. Imagine Sola saying that he left acting of 150k for lecturing of 5k. The 150k is it monthly or annually. If annually, I may not be able to ascertain the veracity of that claim but if it's monthly, it's not true. Artist don't earn salary but by production. This is incredible.
How much were actors and actresses earning in 1994? Is not much now..... How much did Eucharia earn for her prostitu'te role in Glamour Girls. My dad bought a paper where Zack Orji and Eucharia were interviewed about their illicit role in the film, along the line Eucharia was asked the amount she was paid to act that movie and she said it. It was not much now but mega then but not up to 50k I suppose. What am I saying, 50bail, in 1994. That was huge. These are artist that played major role. I will get you the paper when I go back to Ibadan.

My point, Sola couldn't have been earning 150k in 1994. This I am sure of.

50 naira was the highest denomination then...It was introduced by IBB regime..The money is popularly known as BETTER LIFE..related to first lady pet project for women then.
When OBJ came into power he introduced #100,#200 etc... I remember then,a king-size bread goes for #2..

Sir, I don't think Prof Fosudo is the one that made the opening post of this thread as it was taken from a news site, so he probably wouldn't see this. I think you'd have to find an alternative means of contacting hin.

Is he d one that posted this topic on nairaland? Why not tell us the minimum wage in 1994 if u know it. Calling him a liar is unfair if u can't buttress ur point with facts.

What if he featured in different movies. Definitely he was one of the prominent actors acting in nollywood, yoruba and TV series as at that time. Only few actors had such versatility then, so he could be earning way better than his colleagues. U can't be sure..
