age wise she is ready for mating but of you say she is underweight you can consider skipping this heat. |

@OP I think you may be expecting your dog to be what she's not from a genetic point of view. Judging from your picture I don't think she is underweight at all. A very simple way to assess if a bitch's weight is appropriate before breeding is to examine her chest wall. If you can easily see her ribs through the coat & skin, then she's definitely underweight and it's advisable not to breed her in that case. If, however, you can't see her ribs but can feel them with your hands then her weight is OK. On the other hand, if you can neither see nor feel the ribs, then she's overweight and also advisable not to breed her. Age wise though, she's good to go. 1 Like |
