If you are shy and you know it, raise your hand. Admitting to being a shy person is the first step to overcome that awkward feeling of shyness. I don't want you to take being shy and being introverted as the same thing because they are two parallel lines that should never meet.

I won't be going into details about their differences since that's not the main purpose of this thread.

This thread is for SHY people who are ready to break from that shell, have a high self esteem and exploit the world around them without feeling awkward. We kindly implore those who were once there to share their experiences and how they were able to overcome it.

10 SIGNS THAT YOU ARE A SHY PERSON:
A list of this type is going to be subjective, so we don't pretend ours is definitive. It's meant to be the beginning of a conversation, not the final word. So tell us what you think:

1. Little or no eye contact during communication.

2. Talking To Unknown People Is Nearly Impossible: bad at starting conversations and probably pretty insecure

3. Silent Lovers.

4. We may not talk, but we see everything with uniqueness.

5.We don’t speak much but be our buddy and you’ll wonder why we can’t stop talking.

6. Avoid parties.

7. We question the importance of our Facebook statuses, Twitter updates and yes, even Linkedin posts.

8. When someone takes our photo, we feel like we need a bucket.

9. We don’t laugh at funny parts of movies or television series to avoid unnecessary attention.

10. We exhibit nervous behaviours, such as touching your hair or face a lot.

So we call on all experts both far and near to have to their say on this matter. Thanks

I am a shy person and one thing I know is Shy people make use of the internet alot

Little or no eye contact doesn't necessarily mean you're shy though. It could mean pride too.

Also being quiet or reserved or being introverted shouldn't be misread as being shy either. You may be intelligent and ordinary chatter/people bore you to death.

Most of us think of shyness as something bad. Some of us would go so far as to say that it’s a curse. Maybe a few of us even feel like it’s ruining our lives. But have you ever stopped to think that shyness might not even be anything bad at all?

Shyness itself isn’t bad. Being cautious and reserved around other people isn’t a bad thing. Shyness is only bad when:
1) it holds us back.

2) when we think it’s bad.

If your shyness is stopping you from doing the things you want to do and it’s making you unhappy, that’s not good. And if your shyness stresses you out and makes you feel like a rubbish person, that’s not good. That’s something you want to change.

I'm also a shy person but I've been graced to lead a section with over 20 people at work and represent them on occasions. that responsibility is wot is doing it for me, pushing me out of my comfort zone...I think the best cure/remedy to shyness is just to be saddled with responsibilities.
