Dear tech guys.
Someone close to me somehow got access to message on my WhatsApp and showed me the message to my greatest surprise.

I am thinking it could be when I temporarily disabled the password to my phone, but am very worried also about the possibility that my WhatsApp transactions are being spied on or monitored.

Therefore my appeals for tech savvy guys to pls share tips on how I can determine if someone is reading my WhatsApp messages or listening to my conversations and how to rectify if it is so. Thanks in advance for your help.

The answer is No.
WhatsApp now use End-to-end encryption, which ensures only you and the person you're communicating with can read what's sent, and nobody in between, not even WhatsApp.
May be! just may be he got hold of your phone and removed your sim card and inserted it to another phone and activated your WhatsApp account. I have once done that in a windows phone, just that the messages take time to arrive.
Or you sold an old phone recently and forgot to wipe your data.

Thanks man. However I didn't sell an old phone with my data on it.It must mean then that my sim was inserted in another phone.Permit me to ask how long it takes the messages to arrive as you mentioned. Also is there a Way to check if my account is delivering message elsewhere and deactivate it.

in your whatsapp option, click "whatsapp web" and check if any device is connected to it. if YES, remove it

Done that. The message is visit web.WhatsApp.com on your computer and scan the QR code.

About 10 to 15 minutes per message.
Use Whatsapp Web log option from your main whatsapp account to delete any unauthorized device.

Or enable two-step verification.
To do so go to;
WhatsApp → Menu options at Top Right → Settings → Account → Enable 2 Step-verification.
When someone tries to activate your WhatsApp on another device, he will be asked for a security code that only you know. Without that code, it will be impossible for another person to register your WhatsApp on another computer.

he has probably bugged your phone or managed to screenshot the msgs when you temporarily disabled password.

What am after is the WhatsApp account that I feel is already duplicated, how do I disable it?

Yes you have automatically denied your friend access to your WhatsApp account. Now you are safe. Just remember your pin because WhatsApp will ask you from time to time.
