Yes,I just Googled Barry just now and I was shocked to see the series has just barely entered into it's mid season. Don't fall my hand in this line of argument that I am so pinching my self not to go into but I think you are worth it( u know about films than most guys here,ur series recommendations are worthy).
First, if you notice this is the first time a modern family character did not enter this category which means comedy is something that fans must grow into before it can even earn a nomination not to now talk of winning it.Atlanta season 2 hype was mad crazy unexpected cos we the non shouting original fans of it did not think people would not like the way Donald did the whole series and was kinda praying for a renewal and when the second season premier was announced we did not expect the anticipation frenzy it got. Unlike Barry who you did not even expect to get a nomination cos people do not know about it.

What?? Wtf are you on about? For the fact you that you haven't heard about Barry doesn't mean others haven't. It's on friggin HBO for crying out loud. That's practically synonymous for popularity. I'm gonna forgive this blunder of yours cuz obviously you haven't seen it, so I'm advicing you right now to go do just that, then come back and let's talk. First season of Barry is done and dusted btw, and is currently the rave of the moment.


Anyhoo, your assertion about audience growing into a show before deserving a nomination is wrong on so many levels that it's hilarious. I mean, where do you pluck out this fallacious claims from? Atlanta won several Emmys at it's debut season, or have you forgotten? How about Veep? Shameless, The Office, The Good Place... I could go on and on. What I'm tryna say is lots of shows earned their nomination rights in their debut season for a simple reason - they raised quite a few IMPORTANT eye brows, but in a good way. The fans don't really get a say in the nomination process. If we were allow to vote, it would invariably turn into a popularity contest, and would undermine the merit system the whole shebang is suppose to be based on.

Atlanta earned it's emmy nomination because the 2nd season acting was freshed out and even more provocative than the first installment. I knew after watching the creepy "Teddy Perkins" episode, that Danny Glover is gonna get a nomination. However, I don't think he did enough to deserve a win.

And btw, Modern Family didn't get a nomination cuz it didn't deserve to. It's a show that is on it's last legs and as such, the actings were dire and redundant.

Ant-Man and the Wasp


Alright alright alright. This latest MCU installment may not be as robust as other MCU marquee offerings, but it's got two things going for it: zippy energy and unconventional humor. The movie is disjointed and cluttered in parts, but it's also very entertaining, exciting and funny. It's not memorable, but a worthy palate cleanser (esp) after the much weightier Infinity Wars. Overall, it's a little step-up from the first "Ant-Man".

Breadwinner


It has such a promising premise, but the plot failed to knock my socks off. It just didn't pack much of an emotional punch as advertised. I don't know what certain people gleaned in this animation a la the rave reviews, but I gotta say, je n'etais pas impressionne, I wasn't impressed, at all. However, I will say it's a good movie to show your KIDS. A positive message from the real world. Overall, nice try but no cigar.

Mission Impossible: Fallout.


Okay, I'd start with the bad first. The plot pacing could be better and the dialogue can get confusing sometimes. If you don't pay close attention, what is being discussed will go over your head.

Now the good: This is Hollywood at it's finest. Top tier sets, top tier action sequence, top tier stunts, top tier actors, top tier camera works. I'll be damned if this ain't the best ation sequence I've seen in the whole franchise. The hand-to-hand combat was spot on. The storytelling apart from slight pacing issues is fast paced, smart, treats the audience like adults, and very enthralling the entire 150 minutes. The new additions to the cast also added so much, especially Henry Cavill, just his stature and size makes him so intimidating. Overall, it's arguably the best movie in the franchise.

- Stephen Dilliane (Stannis) hated his time on GoT, and the show in general. Doesn't approve of the gratuitous sex and violence.
- Angus T Jones (Jake) called Two and A Half Man filth.
- Katherine Heigl thrashed Grey's Anatomy in an interview. No surprises there. The woman's a diva.
- Mandy Patinkin doesn't think highly of Criminal Minds, Chicago Hope, & Dead Like Me. The man is a walking serial malcontent. He goes by "Saul Berenson" nowadays (Homeland). He probably hate the Showtime espionage drama too.
- Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) hated being Buffy by season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I felt kind of weird when I heard about this.
- Blake Lively hated her character on Gossip Girl. Tbf, her character, "Serena Vanderwoodsen" was very annoying. So, she's not alone.
- James Spader (best known as Red on "The Blacklist" nowadays) hated his role on The Office and only stayed on because he needed the cash to fund some other project he was working on.
- Stana Katic hated Castle, and the actor portraying Castle.
- Jeffery Donavan and Gabreille Anwar hated each other on Burn Notice Oh the irony. Two main protagonists that are written to be in love with each other, but hated each other's guts instead, and have to fake being in love with each other the whole time. Wow.
- Teri Hatcher hated all her castmates in Desperate Housewives. Loved the show though. Credits it for saving her career.
- Michael C. Hall (Dexter) hated being Dexter Morgan in the later seasons. He wanted to pursue other passions, but Showtime was more interested in running the show into the ground.
- Bradley Cooper hated his time on Alias.
- Nicole Beharie hated her time on Sleepy Hollow. One of two leads, and they treated her terribly. She left, they had one season without her. It tanked and got cancelled. Karma.

FACTS YOU PROBABLY DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE MAKING OF YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES

- Three people were struck by lightning during the filming of The Passion of The Christ.
- In Alien Resurrection, Sigourney Weaver really did make that no look, over the shoulder basketball shot. Ron Perlman almost blew the take because he was so wowed!
- In Avengers, Robert Downey Jr would hide food around the sets and eat them while filming. The crew would attempt to find his stashes but never did. All those times he was eating on screen were unscripted.

- District 9 was almost completely unscripted. They had the story plotted out, but when it came to shooting scenes, they would just sorta wing it. Sharlto Copley, the star, had never really acted before. He was a TV producer who Neill Blomkamp worked for as a teenager.
- In the Dark Knight, Heath ledger asked Christian Bale to actually beat him up during the interrogation scene.
- The scientists for Interstellar did so much theoretical physics to get the wormhole and black hole effects
right that their work was published into a scientific paper.
- In Friday, a lot of scenes got ruined because of the crew on the set kept bursting out laughing during Chris Tucker scenes, so they had to film Chris Tucker scenes with no crew on set.
- James Cameron got his start in movies doing special effects. He was helping to make a horror movie and was filming live maggots. To get the maggots to be more active, Cameron would run an electric current through the table and the maggots would become super active. One day he was filming maggots as a producer was watching. He would say, "Action!" to the maggots and they would magically begin moving. The producer was so impressed that he asked Cameron to direct Piranha 2. Thus, starting his directing career. True story.

RANKING ALL DEADPOOL 2 CHARACTERS

- 14. Yukio: As a pretty capable mutant herself, it boggles the mind why they didn't cast her to play a heavier role, instead of a prop bouncing off hellos repeatedly at Deadpool.
- 13. Negasonic Teenage Warhead: After coming off of a fairly important role in the first installment, the grumpy mutant is essentially relegated to being an extra with her new girlfriend.
- 12. Weasel: Awesome in part 1 with his vulgar unfiltered jokes. Plain boring in part 2 with what was basically the same act. A testament to the fact that repetitive jokes get boring pretty quick.
- 11. Sergei, Bedlam, Zeitgeist, Black Tom Cassidy, Vanessa: Props to keep the plot going.
- 10. Blind Al. The character suffered from the introduction of so many new characters who take up more space. Managed to be memorable from the few screen time she got nonetheless. A well written character.
- 9. Firefist: Cute kid, poor actor.
- 8. Domino: She's proper fit, but she could have done much better with her character. Given too much screen time for her own good.
- 7. The Headmaster: The villainous character did what was expected of him, and did it well.
- 6. Dopinder: Inspite of introduction of several new characters, Deadpool's chauffeur and sidekick managed to grab a lot of screen time, and shined in all. We have the phenomenal chemistry between the actor and Ryan Reynolds to thank for this.
- 5. Colussus: Improved on his role in the first installment. Not a glorified babysitter anymore.
- 4. The Vanisher:The fact we didn't actually get to see him, until the last few seconds he got electrocuted in made the character perfect.
- 3. Juggernaut: Badass. Nothing more to add.
- 2. Cable: Brilliant. Charismatic. Slightly disappointed that he didn't break the 4th wall like in the comics. And the height... should be much taller. Apart from these, Josh Brolin nailed it.
- 1. Deadpool: Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool.

MOVIES THAT WERE RUINED BY SEQUEL(S)

- Karate Kid (1984): A testament that greedy producers milking a blockbuster till the last drop didn't start today. The sequels, Karate Kid 2 & Karate Kid 3 were terrible. and have all but ruined a great legacy. A new KD continuation, Cobra Kai, debuting earlier this year in a tv show format, has done a commendable job in pairing some of the damage though.
- Tremors (1990): Awesome survival movie, conclusive ending. Yet, some genius came up with a "brilliant" ideal to create a sequel. Terrible idea. Kevin Bacon refused to reprise his lead role, and it unsurprisingly tanked in the box office. They tried with another followup, and it tanked even more than the 2nd. They tried again. It tanked again. I think at this point, the f**kers don't care much about the ruined legacy any more. They are in it for the quick cash grab.
- Independence Day (1996): What in the actual f**k?! Everyone thought this epic alien invasion movie is done and dusted. Legacy intact and all. What we didn't factor in is the unassuageable greed of Hollywood producers. The sequel was a pile of hot garbage, and completely decimated the legacy of the original.
- The Rocky franchise: How such a classic movie franchise - in fact, one of the best all-time movie franchises - could put out a giant turd like Rocky V is beyond me. Now, when millennials think of Rocky Balboa movies, they are more likely to think of the more recent epic colossal f**kup than the classics. Now, that's how to ruin a great legacy.
- Terminator 1 and 2: The sequels ruined two great movies, esp the iconic Terminator II.
- Transformers 1 and 2: The first 2 Transformer movies were great, but the sequels were gigantic robot p*rn without the feel good factor. Epic fail, directly proportional to ruined legacy.
- Taken 2008: A revenge movie but with an happy ending. A massive hit. A recipe for disaster as it turned out. The sequels should never have happened, and have all but ruined what would have made for a perfect standalone movie.
- Home Alone 1 and 2: The first two were iconic. The multiple sequels however, were disasters.
- REC (2007): The first one is a fantastic horror movie that is brilliantly paced, and a fear of the unknown is present throughout. The sequel start filling in blanks that were better left empty, and the third one almost seems like a parody. Legacy ruined.
- Man of Steel (2013): The sequel was really terrible, and I feel sorry for Henry Cavill.

GREAT MOVIES THAT COULD BE RUINED BY 2019 SEQUEL(S)

- It: Based on Stephen King novel of the same name, everyone knows there is more to come, yet this is a typical example of a movie that can easily be ruined by the planned sequel.
- Den of Thieves: Would have made for a decent standalone, but somehow, a sequel is planned, and could massively ruined what is presently a decent heist movie with a twist.
- Unbroken trilogy: The last part of the trilogy Glass is billed to premiere early 2019, and could well go very wrong, thereby ruining the legacies of the earlier 2.
- Avengers franchise: The newest bit of the Avengers franchise is planned for next year, and could either be force majeure or a colossal f**kup that could ultimately send the whole franchise toppling down.
- Toy Story: Toy story 1, 2 and 3 were really good and could have made for a perfect trilogy. Alas, the newest sequel planned for 2019 could very well ruin all that. Here's to hoping it won't tank.
- Top Gun: The original Top Gun introduced me to Tom Cruise, and has gone on to be inspirations for many flight movies. Such an enviable legacy may become all but history if the sequel planned for next year were to bomb in the box office.
- John Wick: The last bit (I hope) will be on theaters early 2019, and could be catalytical in the worst possible way.

MOVIES WITH MEMORABLE UNEXPECTED ENDINGS

- I Am Legend: When Will Smith's character finally realized he was the monster, and not the vampires he ruthlessly hunted and killed for so long.
- The 6th sense: I didn't see it coming. M. Night Shyamalan at your service.
- The Departed: The ending shocked me. Three times in quick succession.
- 10 Cloverfield Lane: Had me guessing until the end. I was like, maybe he's crazy or maybe he's telling the truth? Turns out he was both.
- Momento: Didn't anticipate the ending... (the beginning?) at all.
- Sorry To Bother You: Yup. Movie basically just goes "F**k your expectations". Hardest curveball I’ve ever seen in a movie.
- No Country for Old Men: It actually confuses you at first, like there was an editing mistake in ending it like that. Until you realize that the main character was just as insignificant in the end as anyone else.
- The Usual Suspect: The ending threw me.
- Enders Game: I was like wtf?! The ending came as a massive shock to me.
- Se7en: The final scene was horrifying, but amazing at the same time.
- The Others: I never saw that coming. Night Shyamalan-esque.
- Gone Girl: What blew me away was that it wasn't even the ending: it was a second act twist that led to another 20 minutes of craziness.
- SAW: The first one. The guy who was "dead" in the middle of the bathroom was Jigsaw.
- The Mist: The ending was heartbreaking.
- Tropic Thunder: Not the ending per say. The closing credits. Imagine my surprise when I realized that the bald potty-mouthed man was TOM F**kING CRUISE??!! Didn't see that one coming.
- The Prestige: One word: amazing.
- Fight Club: That sh*t blew my mind to pieces.
- Split: No reference or relationship to Unbreakable, and then, POW!
- Million Dollar Baby: You expect the movie to be a "rise from the ashes" success story, and then you get the ending...
- Upgrade: An expected ending that actually made sense, and didn't do surprise just for the heck of it.

TV SHOW ENDINGS THAT ANNOYED A LOT OF FANS

- Angel: The show's unexpected cancellation left a bitter aftertaste in it's wake, esp as it was cancelled in the middle of it's best season yet.
- How I Met Your Mother: Took 9 years for us to finally find who the mysterious mother is, only for her to die. What's the point? Why not come right out and reveal it at the onset and save everyone the trouble of pissing away 9 years of their life anticipating an anticlimactic conclusion?
- Dexter: The ending of this show is so anticlimactic. 8 seasons of character development comprehensively ruined in one incoherent episode.
- Hemlock Grove: Netflix first original tv show had a great first season. The 3rd season however, was a total clusterf**k. The ending was even more bizarre, and left a bad taste in our mouths.
- Scrubs: A victim of greedy executives trying to squeeze out more money from a spent show. The show has ended with all loose-ends nicely tied up... then, season 9 happened, out of the blue. Suffice to say, the disaster of the ill-planned season is astronomic of epic proportions. A perfectly good ending was thus ruined.
- Chuck: 5 exciting seasons, only to end in a a cliffhanger. Really, guys?
- Lost: The ending left a lot of people very unsatisfied and more bewildered than ever.
- In the Flesh: Lots of unanswered questions.
- Major Crimes: Very anticlimactic incoherent season. The takeaway is all kind of f**ked-up too: live by the rules, have a successful career, and die an untimely terrible death and be forgotten. Break the rules, be selfish, and you can get away with murder.
- Mad Men: The open ending kinda ruined it at the end. Should have had a conclusive ending.

MOVIES WITH GREAT PLOTS BUT POOR ENDING

- The Circle: Great movie concept, terrible ending that explained nothing.
- Wonder Woman: DC just can't seem to catch a break.
- Knowing: Very intriguing 100 mins, however, the last 20 mins is basically a "f**k y'all, suckers"
- Hancock: The movie is like 2 different scripts glued together. First half is brilliant, 2nd half is cartoonish, and rushed.
- I AM Legend; Compelling story, anticlimactic ending.
- Harry Potter and The Deadly Gallows: Great franchise. Great movies. Sadly poorly-made ending. The last fight between Harry and Voldemort should have been better imo.
- Remember Me; Complex relationship only to end on 9/11. The ending is not only silly, but also pretentious.
- Mama: Would have been a damn good horror, if the ending hadn't sucked. The movie literally fell apart when they showed "mama". She looked so goofy that I couldn't bring myself to take her seriously.
- Now you see Me: Movie was quite fun, but the ending completely undermined literally everything else that had happened in the film. It made no sense whatsoever.
- Batman v Superman: Obviously.

White Boy Rick


This is probably one of the most boring, if a tad poignant movie I've watched this year. I yawned through the muck, and the guy behind me even fell asleep. I knew, because of the predator-esque snores emanating from his palate. I appreciated the poignant essence of the storytelling, but it's an uneven mix of family drama and crime drama, and I felt like the family drama got more screentime which was the less interesting of the two. Overall, I wish it was shorter, and less bipolar.

Overall Score: 6/10

Predator 2018



- Intro: It's not a classic, far from it, but entertainment-wise, it kept my interest the whole way through. I enjoyed it for what it was. I recognized the fact it's not an "intellectual" movie. Turning off your brain for anything remotely plot or exposition related is key. Maybe this initial mindset played a significant role in mellowing my regular cynicism.

- Pacing?: It's got pacing issues. In fact, loads, but again, it's perfectly normal for a movie like that to have events going too fast in one montage, and too slow in the next. Movie editing is a sonofab*tch, so I'ma cut the film a slack on this one.

- Plot -wise, it's alright. I mean, I came cross several plot holes, but none were exactly plot crippling, in fact, if anything, they added to the fun overall. 

- Dialogue?: It's alright. The writers infused a lot of army humor in it. I particularly appreciated the army puns.

- Acting? Olivia Munn isn't a bad actress, but she's particularly bad in this film. It's almost like she deliberately half-assed the whole thing. Apart from her, The acting of all of the main cast was serviceable, and good. The autistic kid impressed me.

- Casting? Few roles were miscast. Olivia Munn esp.

- Overall verdict/conclusion: While no masterpiece, it was more enjoyable than the AVP and recent Alien installments. Going in with zero expectations is the only way to watch it. Just turn off your brain and enjoy the ride.

- Overall Score: 7/10

So the 2018 Emmys results are out, and I gotta say, many of my predictions didn't materialize. Lots of stunning upsets and unexpected wins.

- Jeffery Donavan and Gabreille Anwar hated each other on Burn Notice Oh the irony. Two main protagonists that are written to be in love with each other, but hated each other's guts instead, and have to fake being in love with each other the whole time. Wow.
- Teri Hatcher hated all her castmates in Desperate Housewives. Loved the show though. Credits it for saving her career.
- Michael C. Hall (Dexter) hated being Dexter Morgan in the later seasons. He wanted to pursue other passions, but Showtime was more interested in running the show into the ground.

THE MOST TERRIFYING MOVIES EVER MADE

- 28 Days Later: Imagine waking up to a world where you're an endangered specie?
- REC: Found footage Spanish Horror thriller about a documentary film crew following a team of firefighters. It started slowly, but once it kicks into high gear, it becomes a relentless, claustrophobic, violent hellride of atrociousness. And the ending... my God!
- Event Horizon: The first 20 mins is your normal sci-fi movie stuff, then, things got... eerie. This movie would scare you even on a bright sunny day.
- The Exorcism of Emily Rose.: If you watch this film, you'd never look at 3:33 (twenty-seven minutes to four/three thirty-three) the same again. Creepy as they come, this movie.
- The Ring: You think you're tough? Watch this after-dark with the lights turned off, then. I dare you.
- The Exorcist: No cheap jump-scares, just pure evil. Don't let your young kids see this movie, cuz it will f**k them up... 100%.
- Hereditary: It's very recent. I know, I know, it's not everyone's cup of coffee, but the horror creeps up on you.
- Threads: If you aren't afraid of a nuclear war, and it's ramifications, watching this movie will fix that ignorance, and then, some.
- The Grudge: Creepy as they come.
- Jacob's Ladder: I always recommend this movie any time horror comes up. What sets it apart from most of the others in the list is the fact that it's not only a horror, but is also a deep psychological mystery... mindf**ker, if we go the informal route.
- Sinister: Well... it's aptly named.
- The Outbreak; Showing how quickly a virus could spread, and it's ramifications.
- It Follows: Very creepy. The kind that stays with you for days.
- The Descent: Imagine getting lost in an underground cave, and realizing there are humanoid fresh-eating things down there with you? The moment they realize they are stuck in an unknown cave system... wow!
- Paranormal Activity: This movie is frigging terrifying, and more so, because of the handy-cam film style it employed. The documentary style makes the experience more real, like it actually happened.
- Dead Silence: Makes a strong case for the much derided jump-scare horrors.
- Insidious: The buildup of suspense is incredible.
- The Conjuring: A safe bet to scare horror newbies.
- The Blair Witch Project: There is something about documentary-styled horrors that just sets it apart from others. The realism factor is certainly an A+.
- The Autopsy of Jane Doe: Best to watch after-dark, alone, with the lights turned off.

Halloween 2018

Genre: Horror, Thriller



Well, this was so much better than I expected. Nick Castle killed it as Michael f**king Myers! I was at the edge of my seat for most of the experience, cuz the film did a great job of building up tension. I enjoyed most of it, but there are a few things that put me off:

- Too lengthy: The movie did an excellent job building up tension, but, dallied on reaching resolutions a number of times.
- A subplot that went nowhere: The movie dedicated quite a few minutes developing a character that I thought would turn out to be the protagonist, only for the character to up and disappear.
- Gratuitous dilution of horror scenes with comedy: While it may have consistently worked for MCU, they have the budget to pull it off. Didn't work here, and kinda ruined the experience a number of times.

Overall, I really enjoyed it, and had a blast from start to finish. It made a huge case for the much derided slasher-themed horrors.

- Rocket Raccoon (GoTG) was originally a very self aware genetically created anthropomorphic raccoon. He lived on a world with many other anthropomorphs just like himself. They were created to take care of and protect the insane humans who lived there with them. The planet was essentially an insane asylum with comfort animals as caretakers.
- All four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles originally wore red bandanas. The 1987 cartoon changed that to the colors we know today.
- Jean Grey clone and Scott Summers were pulled from the present to the far future, by their daughter Rachel Summers, now an old woman on life support. But they were also given the chance to raise their son, Nathan, who Rachel also brought to the future a few years back since his has an advanced sickness that can only be cured in that era. They were together as a family for 12 years before Rachel finally dies and the couple was sent back to their original timeline. Nathan was left behind and eventually became the man we now call Cable.
- Peter Parker doesn't drink alcohol and he has a long lost little sister.
- It is stated by a few time travellers (Cable being the most notable), that in the Marvel Universe, Spider-Man is considered the greatest and most revered superhero in the future.
- One of Deadpool 's powers is that he is fully aware that his reality is fake and that he's in a comic book. It leaves him very depressed most of the time. Professor X once looked into his mind, attempting to stop him in a fight, and saw this truth. Which left the Professor braindead from the sudden shock as a result.
- Thanos was one of the very few super villains to accomplish that one really strange goal: Complete Annihilation. As he floated in the endless void he realized how boring and lonely it was. Realizing that he enjoyed the pursuit more then anything he brought everything back to the way it was and semi-retired.
- Ghost Rider 's penance stare doesn't works on Punisher nor Deadpool and Dr. Doom. Frank Castle has no regrets on his actions. Deadpool's insanity makes the Rider transform back in his human form. Dr Doom is super strong-willed.
- DC has a HERO named Bueno Excellente who rapes people to death.
- Batman has had 7 Robins at minimum.
- Judge Dredd was given an undead enemy simply because they wanted a repeat Vivian for him to fight but since he kills pretty much everyone they needed one he could not kill no matter how many times he shot at him.
- Batman once nearly killed Poison Ivy. When she pointed out that he doesn't kill he replied that he doesn't murder and her status as human was fairly debatable.
- Lex Luther is bald because an artist got his character confused with one of his henchmen. He was meant to have red hair.
- Thanos is a Sorcerer on the level of Dr. Strange in the comics.
- In an alternate timeline Tony Stark became a tyrant and killed most of the Marvel Universe. He wore Dr. Doom 's cape as a trophy.
- Green lanterns can turn their entire suit black.
- Luke Cage once successfully fought the fantastic four in order to steal their flying craft. He then used it to fly to Latveria, and beat up Dr Doom because he owed him $200.
- Marvel once owned the rights to the word “Zombie”.
