I blame the Nysc for this angry except if the corpers didn't heed to their warnings.

In every orientation camp, dangerous issues like these are always discussed and appropriate awareness pasted everywhere so as to avoid stories like this.

Over a decade ago before the POP, a certain woman came out and started pleading with the Corp members that they should take extreme caution with the female indigent of akwa ibom cos of the persistent increase in the number of HIV and Aids in the community. She was seriously begging them not to add to the numbers.

Some boys still didn't heed to it and will be doing bush attack(going to villages to pick up teens with N200 for the weekend).

While I was serving, the state coordinator gave a stern warning that wherever you want to go or visit, ask the locals so they will give proper explanation and tells you, if u are to go or not,for those yet to serve please this is a big lesson and to the families of the deceased do accept our condolence.

Tragic. That is why it is best to ask questions esp to the people of that area. I am sure they would have been told of the flash floods.

Don't mind them. And some low IQ will be like NYSC is useless.

It's not by force. Exempt if it's useless.

Don't mind dem.

During my NYSC I supervised the construction work on the MTN cell station in Zauda, FCT. I was part of teams that worked on several more such stations.

I got some good experience and made some cool money while (cough) serving Nigeria.

Well, I was too bust working to gather friends and babes to go picnicking on a river bank, but I had fun in my own way.

No life jackets, nothing

In the US, it is a crime to go boating or go to the river without a life jacket

How would five young corp members die at once, this is clearly murder disguised as a mistake by a professional in the game. Quote me anywhere.

ChangeIsCostant:
This is very sad. A new picture has emerged showing the moment some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who went on a picnic at a river in Mayo-Sebri village in Gashaka Local Government Council of Taraba state, took a selfie at the venue before drowning moments later.

Nine out of the 23 corps members, who went for a picnic on that fateful day drowned. Seven bodies were recovered the following day and two other bodies recovered some days after.

One of the survivors, a male corps member, narrated the tragedy and how he survived. He wrote: “We went for picnic, 23 of us. We went to a waterfall. That was the first place.

“After taking pictures, we went to another side where there are beautiful rocks with clean water flowing under them. The water was very low though. After taking pictures there, eating and drinking, we were about leaving when someone just shouted seeoooh.

“When we turned, we saw very dirty water coming with so much force and speed, the kind of speed I have never seen in my life, coming from a distance of about 100 metres. We were almost leaving the place but within seconds, the water got to our position. I don’t know how I jumped out.”

Meanwhile, Idris Musa, a resident of Mayo Selbe, disclosed that each year, one to two persons lose their lives in the river, giving rise to the nickname Kogin Mutuwa (Hausa for ‘River of Death’). “The water rushes down with great force and speed once it rains up here,” he said, adding that numerous tragedies have been recorded over the years, but were unreported.
