@vcole Hey Mama. I intend to have my baby in early 2019 but can't prove 3 months residency because I returned to Naija after landing and would likely return to Naija shortly after having my baby too so would likely pay cash.
I know you answered a similar question but I can't locate the response but how do I go about it. Do you also advise that I use midwives? Thanks
Hey rainazoe. I have no idea how paying out of pocket works. If you already applied for a health card, you would be unable to pay cash because your services would be automatically billed to your provincial health insurance.

Thanks Mom. I didn't apply before I left because I was not literally going to stay for 90days. Thanks

Hello landed seniors, thanks so much for all you do to guide us. So we did a soft landing in May, opened bank accounts with RBC and are back in Nigeria. Now we received a "declaration of Tax residence for individuals " form and there's a section where they are asking if we are tax residents of any other country? Of course the answer is yes because we both work and pay our taxes here in Nigeria. Please what is the implication of this? Has anyone else experienced this? We would just like to know what to expect after declaring this please?

How did you buy your ticket ? Did you use a credit card? If you did try and get authorization from the owner of the credit cards before you travel . If not you risk having your flight canceled

Thanks.. Please two more clarifications. I heard that with the FRSC Letter, you can skip G1; please confirm. 2. Does my driver's licence need to show date of issuance at least two years. I am confused about the two years of driving experience. My fear is that if I reissue my licence, it will show new date of issue as 2018 and my experience may be in doubt. Please clarify.
Blackbuddy:

Hi, it is possible to conclude the G1 and G2 within a month depending on your ability to pass them in that time. Once you present your valid Nigerian drivers licence as soon as you land and register for the G1, you wont need to present it again even if you don't get to G2 within a month. All the best.

It depends on your family size but N20m in readily available funds seems like a fair sum. See the expected funds one needs to have in place while processing an application for permanent residence through Express Entry below and at this link, https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html

You will also learn a lot more about Express Entry by following this thread on Nairaland, https://www.nairaland.com/4657743/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/78

Hello seniors in the house

Is it necessary to get reference letters from the companies one has worked with in Nigeria before landing?

Will Canadian employers ask for it?

Hi, it's a good idea to get it if you can. Smaller employers will find it useful in getting an idea of what your previous supervisors think about you. I've seen recruitment decisions swayed in favor of applicants because they were able to present favorable reference letters at face to face interviews. For some bigger employers, they tend to contact/write directly to past employers/supervisors in some cases and get the reference.

It's got nothing to do with the payment. Same happened when I tried to check in with KLM a couple of weeks ago. I called customer service about it, and they advised it was a random check to confirm visas or PR card holders before allowing the passenger to check-in. It only means you cant check-in online, which is very annoying if you like to select your seats early. You will get checked in at the airport once they view your PR card.

Hello Seniors,

To God be the glory, my PR card got approved on my profile today. On the average how many days does it take for card to arrive mail box after approval?

Also, is there a way I can verify the address the PR card will be shipped to online or by phone?

Thank you in advance all...

Hi, you could receive the card in 3 to 8 weeks but there's a 6 months ceiling stated on their website where you can change your address to receive the card, https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/new-immigrants/pr-card/canadian-address.html

Thank you for your response.

Although, from my research it's around 8 weeks from landing not from when application is approved on ones profile. I am already 55days post landing.

Am hoping for something shorter o!

My response was based on landing date when you would indicate an address to receive your PR card after activating PR at PoE. You are able to change the given address to receive the card within 180 days of landing, this is indicated in the link I provided you.

Hi @ blackbuddy. Thank you for the information. I am grateful. However, I still want to know if I will need to renew my driver's license before I come to Canada. It expired in 2016. If yes, do you think a temporary license will suffice as a validated driver's license in Canada.
Thank you once again as you answer my question
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Mohddd: 11:29am On Aug 14, 2018
Please how will you know when the account is completed. Was yours completed before you got the account number? And how was the charges like when you transferred money into it. Sorry for the many questions

@Maziude opened one before landing. Below is his post:

"For those who wants to open a Canadian bank account, you can also try National Bank of Canada. I got my account number on Monday. I only filled the online account opening form for new comers on Sunday and by Monday afternoon, I got my account number and instructions on how to wire funds should I need to. As usual, I can't withdraw unless I arrive Canada".

Caveat: "If the account opening process is not completed within three months of your account opening application, your account will be closed. To recover any funds in the account, you will have to comply with all of National Bank's requirements, including identification by an agent (you will receive the necessary form and additional information by email at that time), and assume the applicable fees".
